Abstract

Background: Antibacterial is a substance that can interfere with the growth or even kill bacteria by interfering with harmful microbial metabolites. The skin of the Harum Manis Mango (Mangifera indica L.var. arum sweet) contains flavonoid compounds which are known to have antibacterial activity. Objective: This study aimed to determine the antibacterial activity of the ethanol extract of Harum Manis Mango skin against the antibacterial activity of Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi. Methods: The research method used in this study was the well diffusion method to determine the antibacterial activity of the ethanol extract of the Harum Manis mango skin Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi using chloramphenicol 250 mg used as a comparison of antibacterial activity. Results: The results of the antibacterial activity of the ethanolic extract of Harum Manis mango skin against Escherichia coli showed the diameter of the inhibition zone as follows: 20% concentration (12.83 mm), 30% concentration (12.93 mm) and 40% concentration (13.91 mm), while against Salmonella typhi with a concentration of 20% (11.63mm), a concentration of 30% (12.5mm) and a concentration of 40% (13.5mm).Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that the ethanol extract of the skin of the Harum Manis Mango (Mangifera indica L. var. arum sweet) has antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi bacteria. The most effective concentration against Escherichia coli at concentration of 40% (13.91mm) and Salmonella typhi at a concentration of 40% (13.5mm) with strong inhibition.

Abstract

Self efficacy is someone who has high confidence where individuals are able to direct behavior to be active and more diligent with all academic activities. Positive ability to reason is a disposition or conduct that is possessed to have the option to settle on decisions by utilizing a solid and clear psyche that starts or emerges from positive energy and furthermore sees everything with regards to its decency. This study expects to decide if there is a connection between self-viability and positive ability to reason. The exploration strategy utilized is connection with cross sectional methodology, the quantity of respondents is 53 individuals. This retrieval techniqueiis done by using questionnaires that are distributed directly. Sampling using simple random sampling with aitotal of 53 respondents. Their results showed that most of the respondents with High Self Efficacy were 43 people (81.1%) with the ability to think positively in the high category as many as 25 people (47.2%). Thelr results of the Fisher's Exact Test correlation test with a p-value of 0.488 (p <0.05) means that there is no significant relationship between self-efficacy and the ability to think positively in adolescents at Karya Bhakti Junior High School, Tarabintang District, Humbang Hasundutan Regency. The conclusion is that the self-efficacy of Karya Bhakti Junior High School students is very high, while students who have very low positive thinking skills are expected to be better able to change attitudes or behavior to improve their ability to think positively and apply self-efficacy in each individual.

Abstract

Coffee contains polyphenols as antioxidant compounds. The content contained in temu giring is a compound of alkaloids, flavonoids, triterpenoids, saponins and tannins as antioxidants. Ginger contains gingerol, beta-carotene, caffeic acid, curcumin as antioxidants. The purpose of this study was to determine whether coffee drink combined with ginger extract (Zingiber officinale) and temu giring extract (Curcuma heyneana) had antioxidant capacity and was favored by volunteers. This research experimentally prepares a coffee drink that combines ginger extract and temu giring extract and demonstrates the discovery of simplicia, the production of ginger extract and temu giring extract, as well as formula optimization using SLD (simplex lattice design) and conducting a survey of respondents on each formula. The yield of ginger simplicia was 500 g and temu giring 750 g with a weight of 88.8 g of ginger extract and 98.2 g of temu giring extract. Determination of formula optimization using SLD is based on the antioxidant activity of the optimal formula, namely the ratio of ginger: temu giring (1/4: 3/4) formula II and the hedonist result of each formula is formula IV with a ratio of ginger: temu giring (3/4). : 1/4).

Abstract

Cikala acid fruit is fruit of kecombrang plant (Etlingera elatior) which phenolic compounds including flavonoids and has strong antioxidants activity. Antioxidants are nutrients in the form of vitamins and minerals that function to prevent and repair damaged body tissues. Antioxidant compounds are generally used in cosmetic products. The purpose of this study to determine the antioxidant activity of the ethanolic extract of the cikala fruit was formulated into a moisturizing cream. This research is experimental, covering extract manufacture, phytochemical screening, manufacture and testing of cream preparations as well as testing of antioxidant activity in moisturizing cream. The cream formulation formula was made with a concentration ratio of 1.5%, 2%, 2.5% and blank. Chemical compounds from the ethanolic extract of cikala fruit are alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids and triterpenoids; has a homogeneous cream dosage form with a pH range of 5.7-6.1 after short storage and  12 weeks of storage; and has antioxidant activity with inhibitor concentration value of 19.92 g/mL at concentration 2.5%.

Abstract

Compounds that function as free radical scavengers are known as antioxidants, which inhibit the oxidation process of chemical reactions and work by taking an electron to reduce the negative effects of these free radicals. The Mahkota Dewa plant (Phaleria macrocarpa), a member of the Thymelacaccae family, is known to have potential as a natural antioxidant.Various treatments prior to the extraction process of the Mahkota Dewa leaf affect the level of antioxidant activity was observed to have an effect on Both groups of leaves were extracted by maceration after part of the leaves were air-dried and partially extracted from fresh leaves. Yields were determined and phytochemical and antioxidant tests used the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryhydrazyl method and gallic acid as a comparison. Test results showed yield values ??of 13.6% w/w (dried extract) and 9% w/w (fresh leaves). Mahkota dewa leaves contain alkaloids, flavonoids and phenolic active compounds. An antioxidant activity (IC50) value was obtained at 108.05 ppm (dried leaves). 90.97 ppm (fresh leaf) and 4.04 ppm (comparison compound). Fresh leaf sample extracts have higher antioxidant activity values ??than dried leaf sample extracts.
