Abstract

Dug well water is one of the sources of clean water that is used by the community as a water supply facility in daily life. However, the water quality of dug wells often does not meet the requirements, especially in chemical parameters, especially iron content (Fe). High iron levels in water can reduce water quality and increase health and economic problems, so effective, safe and environmentally friendly water management efforts are needed. Corn cobs can be used as activated carbon which acts as a bioadsorbent against iron ion (Fe) pollution. This study aims to test the effectiveness of corn cob charcoal powder in reducing iron (Fe) levels in dug well water with variations in corn cob dosages of 10 grams, 15 grams and 20 grams. The type of true experimental research with a pre-test-post test approach. Iron levels were determined using the spectrophotometry method with three repetitions. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal Wallis test (alpha = 5%). The results of the study showed that the decrease in iron content in the water of the dug well after treatment with a dose of 10 grams with an average value of 0.2341 Mg/L, a dose of 15 grams with an average value of 0.1859 Mg/L, and a dose of 20 grams with an average value of 0.2076 Mg/L This study shows that corn cob charcoal powder is effective in reducing iron levels in dug well water and the dose of corn cob charcoal powder that is effective in reducing iron (Fe) levels in dug well water is the dose 15 grams with a p-value of 0.026 < 0.05, iron content reaches 0.1859 Mg/L and the effectiveness reaches 82%. It is suggested that the community can use corn cob waste as an adsorbent in reducing iron levels and modifying the management of corn cob waste.

Abstract

Hemodialysis is a crucial procedure for patients with chronic kidney failure, but it can cause anxiety due to uncertainties related to the therapy, duration, and costs. Coping mechanisms play a role in managing this anxiety. This study aims to analyze the relationship between coping mechanisms and anxiety levels in hemodialysis patients at RSUD Dr. M.M. Dunda Limboto. Using a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach, a sample of 30 respondents was selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Chi-square tests. The results show that 50% of patients use adaptive coping mechanisms, while 50% use maladaptive ones. A total of 55.26% of respondents experienced moderate anxiety, while 44.74% experienced severe anxiety. The Chi-square test indicates a significant relationship between coping mechanisms and anxiety levels (p-value = 0.003, p < 0.05). This study suggests the need for psychological interventions to help patients develop adaptive coping mechanisms to reduce anxiety and improve their quality of life

Abstract

Low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding not only impacts infants but can also reduce the achievement of optimal nutritional status for mothers and infants during the breastfeeding period. Mothers and children are vulnerable to declining nutritional status. This is due to several factors, particularly the increased nutritional needs of mothers during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as well as the rapid growth and development of children aged 0–6 months. The study aimed to determine the effect of exclusive breastfeeding on the nutritional status of mothers and infants. The research design used a quantitative correlational cross-sectional method. The population in this study were all mothers with infants aged 0–6 months. The sample was drawn using a purposive sampling technique, resulting in 57 respondents. Data analysis used the Chi-square test with a significance level of 0.05. The results of the study showed that on average, 33 mothers (57.9%) had normal nutritional status, and 35 babies (61.4%) had normal nutritional status. There was an influence of Exclusive Breastfeeding on the Nutritional Status of Mothers and Babies with a p value of 0.000 < 0.05. It can be concluded that there is an influence of exclusive breastfeeding on the nutritional status of mothers and babies in the Telaga Health Center work area.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the complexity of the rehabilitation process among female drug users, which is influenced by psychological, social, and stigma-related factors, thereby affecting the dynamics of motivation in undergoing rehabilitation. This study aims to analyze the process of therapeutic communication in enhancing rehabilitation motivation and to identify the barriers faced by female drug users at Yayasan Cahaya Putra Selatan Palembang. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through non-participant observation, in-depth interviews with the program manager, counselors, female clients, religious figures, and police officers, as well as documentation. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis. This study applies Symbolic Interactionism Theory and Self-Determination Theory (SDT). The findings show that therapeutic communication occurs gradually through empathetic and non-judgmental relationships that build trust, which then develops through individual and group counseling to encourage openness, reflection on experiences, and changes in clients' self-perception, leading to the formation of rehabilitation motivation over time. However, the process faces internal barriers such as emotional resistance, shame, and negative self-concept, as well as external barriers including lack of family support, economic pressure, parental responsibilities, and social stigma
