Abstract

Toilet training is an important stage in toddler development that requires the readiness and knowledge of parents, especially mothers. However, many mothers still have limited knowledge about proper toilet training practices. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the animation video modeling method on the level of mothers’ knowledge in training toilet training for children aged 2–3 years in the Central Suwawa Health Center area. This research used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 48 mothers who had children aged 2–3 years, divided into an intervention group and a control group using cluster sampling. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis and the Independent Samples T-Test. The results showed that the average knowledge score of mothers in the intervention group increased from 6.95 before the intervention to 10.71 after receiving the animated video modeling method. Statistical analysis showed a significant effect with a p-value < 0.001. These findings indicate that the animation video modeling method is effective in improving mothers’ knowledge regarding toilet training in toddlers. Therefore, animated video-based health education can be recommended as an effective educational strategy in maternal and child health programs.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a key role as the main driver of the economy in North Sumatra, especially in ensuring stability after the pandemic. Although the local government has allocated billions of rupiah for capital and infrastructure support, the implementation of these programs is still hampered by issues of professional ethics and a lack of transparency. This study aims to assess the implementation of the code of ethics and information disclosure in MSME strengthening programs in the area. Using a descriptive qualitative method, this research found significant differences between the policies established and the reality in the field. Serious issues such as allegations of misuse of grant funds for the construction of MSME Square and acts of intimidation by officials against small business owners are major obstacles. The results of this study show that the success of government assistance is not only determined by the amount of funds available, but is also greatly influenced by the integrity of employees and ease of access to information for the community. This study recommends the need for an independent monitoring system and digitization of information to restore the trust of MSME actors and ensure more inclusive and responsible economic growth.

Abstract

Post-immunization pain is a common physiological response among toddlers caused by tissue trauma following injection procedures. This condition may lead to discomfort, prolonged crying, and increased parental anxiety, potentially affecting adherence to subsequent immunization schedules. Therefore, effective and safe non-pharmacological interventions are needed to minimize pain. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of warm and cold compresses on pain levels among toddlers after immunization at the Mongolato Village Integrated Health Post, Gorontalo, Indonesia. A quantitative quasi-experimental study with a two-group pretest–posttest design was conducted involving 40 toddlers selected through purposive sampling and divided into warm compress (n = 20) and cold compress (n = 20) groups. Pain levels were measured using the FLACC observation scale. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test followed by paired t-test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that both warm and cold compress interventions significantly reduced pain levels (p = 0.001). However, warm compress therapy demonstrated greater effectiveness, with a larger reduction in mean pain scores compared to cold compress therapy. Warm compress intervention can be recommended as an atraumatic care strategy in community-based immunization services to improve children’s comfort and support immunization program success.

Abstract

This study employs the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to conduct a technical evaluation of disaster risk in the selection of sites for Permanent Housing (HUNTAP) for survivors of the 2018 earthquake, tsunami, and liquefaction disaster in Palu, Central Sulawesi. The analysis integrates five main disaster criteria (floods, landslides, tsunamis, earthquakes, and liquefaction) and 31 sub-criteria compiled from literature and expert judgment. The AHP results show that flood risk is the dominant factor in relocation decisions (relative weight 47.07%), followed by landslides (23.85%), tsunamis (12.52%), earthquakes (11.19%), and liquefaction (5.38%). Key sub-criteria such as lowland areas, river border zones, and drainage conditions are the most significant flood risk indicators. This research provides a structured, multi-criteria decision-making framework to ensure that post-disaster relocation prioritizes the most critical hazards, thereby enhancing the safety and sustainability of settlements in complex disaster-prone regions like Palu. The findings recommend targeted, risk-based mitigation strategies for each hazard priority.
