Abstract

Rainfed rice farming communities feel the impact of climate change because they rely on rainfall as the main source of agricultural activities. The uncertain timing of the planting season due to changes in rainfall is one of the causes of the crisis, namely crop failure so that it is difficult for farmers to meet their food needs and poses a threat of food insecurity. One of the efforts that the community can do in facing the threat of a crisis is to preserve the food barn institution. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of food institutions in the community of rainfed rice farmers in Jati Agung District in dealing with the impacts of climate change. The research was conducted by survey method, using quantitative and qualitative data. Respondents and informants were selected by simple random sampling as many as 100 community members. The research location was chosen purposively in Marga Kaya Village, South Lampung. This study found that the institutional granary plays a role in social and economic aspects. The role of the food barn institution for the rainfed rice farming community is as a supporter of food availability, as a delay in selling, providing capital loans and a role in supporting the resilience of the farming community. Kata kunci: food barn, institution, rainfed rice farmer

Abstract

Moringa plant (Moringa Oleifera Lam.) has long been cultivated by the Muna people on Muna Island and used as a portion of vegetable food. The purpose of this article is to reveal the existence of Moringa against Muna people who migrate to the southeast peninsula of Sulawesi Island. The theory for reading data is Foucault's thinking about discourse. The results of the study, Muna people who migrated to mount Jati Kendari City are still cultivating moringa. While the Muna people who migrate to Ulunese Village, East Kolono District no longer cultivate Moringa because nature is less supportive. As a result, traditional knowledge and skills of cultivating and utilizing Moringa disappeared. Moringa plants have been scientifically proven to contain highly nutritious nutrients. One of them is to overcome malnutrition in toddlers, which can increase hemoglobin (Hb) levels in adolescent girls. Currently, Moringa has been consumed by other tribes such as the Tolaki, Bugis, Bajo, Moronene, and Javanese. Ideally, these conditions are an economic opportunity for the people of Muna. But in reality in Gunung Jati Village, Kendari City, Moringa is only for family consumption and does not make them cultivate moringa more widely. Similarly, the Muna people in Ulunese Village do not try to cultivate Moringa to meet the needs of consumers. The government should be able to provide counseling on moringa economic opportunities.

Abstract

Pekarangan Pangan Lestari (P2L) is an activity carried out by community groups that jointly work on their yard as a source of food in a sustainable manner to increase availability, accessibility, and utilization, as well as income. There are three indicators that influence farmers' response to extension media, namely cognitive, affective and psychomotor. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence Farmers' Responses to Extension Media in the Sustainable Food Yard Program (P2L) and to analyze the level of Farmers' Responses to Extension Media in the Sustainable Food Yard Program (P2L). The research was conducted in Juwet Manting Hamlet, Parangargo Village, Wagir District, Malang Regency. Respondents were determined as many as 39 people from a total population of 65 people. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results showed that the factors that influence the response of farmers to media extension in the Sustainable Food Program (P2L) are interest which is an affective variable and the level of response of farmers to media extension in the Sustainable Food Program (P2L) is high.

Abstract

Cayenne pepper and large red chili are complementary food commodities that are always needed, and their prices fluctuate. This research was conducted to determine farmers' preferences in choosing large red chilies and cayenne peppers. The method used in this study was conjoint analysis which was used to analyze the preferences of 36 farmers in selecting large red chilies and cayenne pepper. Commodity levels of importance no. 1 and no. 2 are the same regarding resistance to pests and diseases and market prospects. For the following order, it is a difference between sizeable red chili and cayenne pepper commodities. In terms of the combination of attribute levels, the utility estimate value between the two commodities has different values, so a correlation test is produced where the significant value of Pearson and Kendall's bird's eye chili is smaller than 0.05 compared to large red chili. High pests, long plant life, high input prices, ease of obtaining seeds compared to large red chilies, and high prices in the market.

Abstract

One of the surviving non-animal timber forest products is honey produced by bees (Trigona sp). The cultivation of kelulut honey produces an economic source for the community through the sale of the proceeds from the kelulut honey itself. This is an opportunity for the community to be able to cultivate honey bees in order to improve the welfare of the community. To be able to increase the production of honey kelulut, an analysis of the feasibility of farming is needed. The purpose of this study is to analyze the cost, revenue, income and feasibility of the kelulut honey bee farming business run by farmers in Nanga Kebebu Village. The sample in this study was 35 farmers in Nanga Kebebu Village who met the criteria as analyzed by researchers. The method in this study is included in quantitative descriptive research. Farm feasibility analysis to calculate cost, revenue, revenue, BEP and R/C Ratio. The results of the analysis show that the kelulut honey farming business in Nanga Kebebu Village is feasible to be cultivated with an average yield of farmers' net income of Rp. 16.033.671/ farmer / year, with an average receipt of Rp. 21,771,429 / farmer / year and an average cost of Rp. 5.737.757/ farmer / year, production yield of 54 liters / year > BEP production of 0,76 liters / year. Furthermore, the selling price is IDR 400,000 / liter > BEP the price is IDR 304.402/ liter. While the R/C result is 3,79. Kata kunci: Non-timber forest products, Farming feasibility, Honey Bee.

Abstract

Given the highly volatile commodity prices, growing cayenne pepper is a risky business. The study aims to determine the level of price and income risk of cayenne pepper farming in Kediri Regency. The research location was determined purposively, namely in Pagu Village, Pagu District, Kediri. The sampling technique was carried out by sample random sampling method with a total sample of 64 respondents. The data analysis method used to determine the level of risk is by determining the value of the coefficient of variation (CV). Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the level of price and income risk at the research location is high with a CV value of more than 0.5. To anticipate price and income risks, farmers can use alternative combinations of inputs that minimize costs and establish a partnership system in marketing crop products. Thus farmers can do farming more safely and securely from farming risk.

Abstract

Kolaka Regency is an area that is the center of pond fishery production, including vannamei shrimp commodities. Some sub-districts in southern Kolaka that are the center of vannamei shrimp production are Pomalaa District, Tanggetada District and Watubangga District. As one of the fishery commodities with an export orientation, shrimp commodities are very vulnerable to price fluctuations. Apart from demand and supply factors, the price of production inputs can also affect the price of vannamei shrimp commodities indirectly, where when the price of production inputs increases, the amount of production will tend to decrease. The decrease in the amount of production will eventually have an impact on increasing the price of vannamei shrimp in the market as a result of a decrease in supply in the market. The purpose of this study is to determine the fluctuations in the price of vannamei shrimp in the South Kolaka area in 2017 – 2021 and to find out the price trend of vannamei shrimp in the South Kolaka area in 2017 – 2021. Data analysis performed using Two Stage Linear Square (2SLS) analysis. The results showed that shrimp prices in Kolaka Regency are very volatile. The price fluctuative is caused by the unstable amount of production in the market, where shrimp prices will tend to increase when the amount of production produced is smaller than market demand and it is known that the results of price trend analysis show that in the last 5 years (2017 to 2021), The price of vanname shrimp in Kolaka Regency continues to increase, where the price increase in the last 5 years is Rp 2,500 per kg.
