Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The increasing cases of sexual violence and abuse against minors, particularly in Semarang City, reflect a lack of sexual education and weak supervision from their immediate environment. This design project aims to provide a visual solution in the form of educational media that raises awareness among both children and parents about the importance of early self-protection. This study employs a qualitative research method with data collection techniques including observation, literature review, documentation, and interviews. The design approach follows Robin Landa’s creative process, which emphasizes development from research to production. This research is limited to the Semarang area, targeting school-aged children, teenagers, and parents. The final output includes a main media in the form of an illustrated storybook, supported by additional media such as stickers, tote bags, and pouches. The book delivers sexual education through bright illustrations, appealing characters, and simple language. Evaluation results indicate that the design is effective in delivering educational messages and enhancing parental involvement in child supervision. It is expected that this media can serve as an initial step in preventing sexual violence against children.

Abstract

Kerinci Regency in Jambi Province has rich natural and cultural potential, but its tourism image and management remain suboptimal. This study demonstrates that a social campaign based on graphic design can serve as an effective educational tool to raise public awareness of smart tourism. Using educational posters, Incung-based ambient media, infographics, and website interface design, educational messages highlight that tourism is not only for recreation but also a learning experience, delivered attractively, communicatively, and consistently with visual art principles. The study also emphasizes the integration of local cultural elements into media design, such as interactive and educational use of the Incung script. The combination of persuasive communication strategies, consistent visual selection, readable typography, and relevant narratives is expected not only to strengthen Kerinci’s tourism visual identity but also to encourage engagement from the community and visitors. By applying a creative concept developed through field observations (5W+1H method), SWOT analysis, the A.I.D.A. model, and market segmentation, the campaign aims to increase the destination’s visibility, improve its image, and support sustainable tourism development. This integrated approach highlights how visual and cultural strategies can enhance both public education and the overall attractiveness of Kerinci as a unique tourist destination.

Abstract

Video is a form of mass media that has characteristics like a film. Music videos are videos that have a short duration as an accompaniment to music or songs. "Akhir Tak Bahagia" is a music video that tells the story of someone who loves the wrong person in her life. " Akhir Tak Bahagia " applied visual compositions in building a dramatization of sadness so that the message of the song's lyrics can be conveyed to the audience. This research discusses the application of visual composition in creating a dramatization of sadness to support the message in the music video "Akhir Tak Bahagia". The research method used is qualitative, while the approach uses a purposive sampling approach. The theory used is the theory of visual composition proposed by Gustavo Mercado. The research was carried out by elaborating the song lyrics, visual composition, and meaning as an emphasis on the dramatization of sadness, which supports the message of the lyrics of the music video song "Akhir Tak Bahagia". From the research conducted, it was concluded that the application of visual composition was in the form of a rule of thirds with empty areas and visual balance that showed scenes of sweet memories from the main character. The scene shows sweet, painful memories. On the other hand, the composition takes the form of a rule of thirds with a narrow area and visual continuity applied to the scene when Misellia sings a song with sadness. By applying this visual composition, the dramatization of sadness is conveyed so that the message of the song lyrics can be conveyed.

Abstract

Tanah Liek batik, as one of Minangkabau's cultural heritages, faces serious challenges in the era of globalization due to the dominance of modern visual products that are more adaptable to the digital market. This research begins with the problem of the weakness of visual communication strategies that are able to represent cultural identity in a contextual and relevant manner for today's audience. To address this issue, the research developed an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based visual marketing strategy oriented towards strengthening cultural identity while increasing product competitiveness. A qualitative-descriptive approach was used through a series of stages including the creation of an AI-based visual design prototype, which was then validated through brainstorming with the store manager as the research partner. The results of the study show that the integration of cultural values with AI technology can produce visual branding that is not only aesthetically appealing but also strengthens the cultural narrative inherent in Tanah Liek batik. The AI-based design prototype proved adaptive to digital trends, while the brainstorming provided practical validation regarding the design's relevance to market needs. In conclusion, an AI-based visual strategy can be an innovative model for cultural preservation and marketing of local products in the digital era.

Abstract

Abstract The declining interest of young generations in wayang art highlights the need for new media capable of bridging traditional cultural values with contemporary visual trends. This study aims to redesign the Pandawa Lima characters in the Metabharata game using a semi-cartoon–semi-realist visual approach as a medium for introducing wayang culture to young audiences. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with visual design stages that include reference collection, sketching, coloring, digital rendering, and revisions based on feedback from cultural experts and teenage audiences. Primary data were obtained through semi-structured interviews with two audience groups general teenagers and design students while secondary data were derived from literature and visual references related to wayang. The results show that the redesigned Pandawa Lima characters successfully combine Javanese cultural values with a modern visual style that appeals to younger audiences. Validation by cultural experts ensured accuracy in relation to wayang conventions, while audience feedback reinforced the visual relevance within the digital media context. The implementation of the designs into 2D in-game assets demonstrates that integrating local culture through game media can serve as an effective strategy for preserving and reintroducing wayang values in the digital era. Abstract

This research examines photography as a medium to visualize emotions through a symbolic approach and creative movement techniques within sunset portraiture. Employing a qualitative descriptive method and a phenomenological approach, this study explores how visual elements such as color, light, texture, composition, and movement are capable of representing complex emotions, including loneliness, self-reflection, and acceptance. The findings indicate that creative movement techniques amplify visual dynamics and establish an emotional connection between the artwork and the audience. Each visual element functions not only for aesthetic appeal but also as a symbol that non-verbally conveys emotional and philosophical messages. These results affirm the role of photography as a visual communication medium capable of deeply transmitting inner experiences. The study concludes that color in sunset photography functions as a strong visual element capable of conveying emotional messages through nonverbal communication mechanisms. Drawing upon Roland Barthes' semiotic framework, the analysis shows that the colors present in the sunset gradient operate not only at the denotative level as an observable natural phenomenon but also at the connotative level as culturally and personally embedded symbols that evoke emotional associations. The findings reveal that warm colors like orange and red elicit feelings of warmth, longing, and hope, while darker hues such as purple and deep blue evoke meanings related to contemplation, solitude, and introspection. This interpretation is reinforced by insights from interviews with Fitrian, who emphasizes that visual elements including color, composition, creative movement techniques, and lighting are intentionally constructed by the photographer to guide the audience’s perception and emotional interpretation.
