Abstract

This paper reports on the English Language Teaching (ELT) in Indonesia and the significance of a proposed approach to the ELT, that is, World Englishes. Library research was conducted to answer principal questions regarding “which prestigious variety should be used, the local English teacher (non-native English teacher) and inner-circle teacher debate (native English teacher), and impact of English affecting local languages. The report concludes with recommendations on how to deal with the three issues”. The first recommendation is to incorporate World Englishes teaching method into ELT in educational institutions nationwide hence provide first-hand experience of varieties of Englishes used in other countries. Secondly, it was suggested that it is more efficient to have both native and non-native English Teachers to teach at a language institution. Lastly, as English travels worldwide it may affect heritage languages thus Jenkins (2015) proposes, students should be made aware of their native languages as their identities and function it together with English (Jenkins, 2015, p. 176). Ultimately, bilingualism is essential in order to employ English as the international language but not forgetting to maintaining local languages as students’ important cultural asset

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the empowerment of coffee farmers in Bokon Village, Tiom District, Lanny Jaya Regency, Papua, as an effort to improve community welfare. The urgency of this research lies in the challenges faced by farmers, such as low productivity, limited access to technology and information, and low quality of human resources. This research uses a qualitative approach with a field study method, involving in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document study to collect primary and secondary data. The results show that empowerment through coffee farmer groups has had a positive impact on the income and welfare of local communities. Innovations in cultivation techniques, such as the utilization of shade plants and organic fertilizers, have successfully improved the quality of coffee production. However, the main challenges are still related to the low education level of farmers, the lack of interest of the younger generation to engage in the agricultural sector, and the lack of infrastructure support and market access from the government. The empowerment of coffee farmers in Bokon Village has great potential in improving the socio-economic conditions of the community. Increased government attention is urgently needed in the form of training, technical assistance, and expansion of marketing networks to support the sustainability of coffee farmer empowerment and the regeneration of young farmers in the region

Abstract

Borobudur Temple, an ancient architectural marvel located in Central Java, Indonesia, stands as one of the world’s most significant cultural heritage sites. Constructed during the 8th century by the Sailendra dynasty, Borobudur is an extraordinary representation of Mahayana Buddhist teachings, conveyed through its intricate narrative reliefs. As modern technology advances, methods for preserving and presenting this cultural legacy are evolving. This paper investigates the integration of visual effects (VFX) and audiovisual media in enhancing the understanding of the temple's relief panels. By employing advanced VFX techniques, the narrative stories embedded in the temple’s stone reliefs are reconstructed in ways that offer visitors a deeper, more immersive visual experience. The incorporation of technology not only aids in preserving the cultural history of Borobudur but also facilitates educational outreach by introducing the temple to global audiences through an interactive digital medium. This study contributes to the field of digital art conservation and cultural heritage preservation
