Abstract

English speaking skills are crucial for academic and professional success, yet college students face internal (e.g., lack of confidence, fear of judgment) and external challenges (e.g., limited practice opportunities). This study explored the use of educational drama to enhance these skills through Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. Activities included role-playing, improvisation, and real-life simulations. Results showed marked improvements in speaking accuracy (Cycle I: +47.49%, Cycle II: +13.17%) and fluency (Cycle I: +18.51%, Cycle II: +14.30%). Student engagement rose from 70.6% to 99.6%. Despite challenges like low participation and classroom management, adjustments in Cycle II proved effective. The study highlights educational drama as a transformative approach to building confidence, vocabulary, and fluency, recommending future research on motivation and classroom optimization

Abstract

The type of research is a survey. The location is at the Barombong Maritime Polytechnic campus, Makassar, South Sulawesi. The population is 204 people. A sample of 51 people was drawn using a purposive random sampling technique. Data collection techniques: questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques: frequency tables, simple linear regression, and multiple regression. Conclusions of the study: (1) character building, worship discipline, worship motivation, and worship behavior in cadets of the Barombong Maritime Polytechnic, Makassar, South Sulawesi are categorized as moderate or need to be improved in worship activities as a Muslim, (2) character building, worship discipline, and worship motivation have a good effect both individually and together on worship behavior in cadets of the Barombong Maritime Polytechnic, Makassar, South Sulawesi. Character building, discipline, and motivation in worship according to Islamic teachings help cadets to behave positively and avoid negative behavior. Cadets will realize that committing sins will bring bad consequences, both in the world and in the hereafter. This can motivate cadets to avoid behavior that is detrimental to themselves and others. One of the efforts to improve character building, discipline, and motivation of cadets, Barombong Maritime Polytechnic has formed a character building center for cadets and students in the form of a permanent daily command (PHST) for cadets. Implications of the study: (1) factors of character building, worship discipline, and worship motivation were found to influence the worship behavior of Barombong Maritime Polytechnic cadets. Therefore, it is necessary to get attention from leaders, lecturers, instructors, and cadet mentors so that the worship behavior of cadets can be further improved, (2) participation of parents and families is very necessary, especially when cadets are on cruises so that they continue to pay attention to worship behavior when at home, and (3) the factors studied in this study are still limited. Therefore, it is necessary to continue to study other factors that are different from this study.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of green intellectual capital on job performance and financial performance, with employee innovativeness serving as an intervening variable. Employing a quantitative approach, the research utilizes primary data collected through questionnaires distributed to employees of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and their subsidiaries in the logistics services sector, ranging from top management to staff levels. The findings reveal that green intellectual capital has a direct and positive influence on employee innovativeness, financial performance, and job performance. However, employee innovativeness does not mediate the relationship between green intellectual capital and either job performance or financial performance. The study underscores the importance of an employee-centric strategy for enhancing workforce performance, innovation, and financial outcomes. Policymakers and corporate leaders are encouraged to prioritize intellectual capital development within their organizations. The results affirm that robust intellectual capital contributes significantly to heightened employee innovativeness, improved job performance, and stronger financial results. Consequently, companies must take proactive steps to cultivate and sustain intellectual capital that drives both organizational and individual success.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an effective whistleblowing model for internal auditors at regional inspectorates across the Province of Bangka Belitung Islands. The development of the whistleblowing model is based on the Theory of Planned Behavior, with social influence serving as a moderating variable. Social influence is measured through the dimensions of conformity, compliance, and obedience. The study involved 227 auditors and Regional Government Administration Supervisors (P2UD). Data were collected using Google Forms and analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method to test the hypothesized relationships between variables. The results show that attitude towards behavior has a positive and significant effect on whistleblowing intention. Subjective norms also have a positive and significant effect on whistleblowing intention, as does perceived behavioral control. Whistleblowing intention has a positive and significant effect on whistleblowing behavior. Whistleblowing intention mediates the effects of attitude towards behavior, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control on whistleblowing behavior. The dimensions of conformity, compliance, and obedience significantly manifest the construct of social influence. Social influence has a direct positive and significant effect on whistleblowing behavior. However, social influence does not significantly moderate the effect of whistleblowing intention on whistleblowing behavior.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine and analyze whether Budget Implementation, Human Resource Competence, and Internal Control System directly influence Budget Absorption at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia. Additionally, it seeks to test whether Organizational Commitment can moderate the relationships between the three independent variables and Budget Absorption. This study employs a descriptive quantitative approach with a confirmatory nature. The population includes all employees in the Supreme Court during 2023, with a research sample comprising 230 respondent selected using probability sampling techniques. The results reveal that Budget Implementation, Human Resource Competence, and Internal Control System have a significant positive effect on Budget Absorption. Organizational Commitment does not moderate the relationship between Budget Implementation and Budget Absorption. However, Organizational Commitment plays a role in moderating the relationships between Human Resource Competence and Internal Control System with Budget Absorption at the Supreme Court. The contribution of this research highlights that Budget Absorption can be optimized when budget implementation is conducted transparently, human resource competence is enhanced, and the internal control system is effectively executed. Furthermore, organizational commitment to governance must function properly and equitably.

Abstract

The gender inequality still exists in the workplace, where women face barriers to improving a higher career path. One of the barriers comes from the institutional environment in the form of gender gap, which make it increasingly difficult for women to reach leadership position. Gender stereotypes halt women’s career advancement, resulting in a glass ceiling phenomena. This study examines the effect of gender inequalities on career satisfaction towards Papuan women leadership during their employment among public institutions. Descriptive qualitative approach was used; the participants selected were female leaders in public institution including education, government, health, and libraries sector. Pattern across the study showed that women remain underrepresented in upper-level management position because they feel unfairly treated by the institution. Barriers generally outweigh opportunities for career advancement; these including glass ceiling phenomena in the workplace by asserting that men make better leaders. Consequently, more women are rising into leadership roles at all levels, including functional public service positions. Given these results, leaders need to build high quality relationship with employer and employee to prevent a glass ceiling in the workplace, resulting in promoting gender equity more broadly within the public whom they serve.

Abstract

Bungin Island, located in Alas District, Sumbawa Regency, NTB, is known as one of the most populous islands in the world with a unique tradition, namely the practice of building coral to expand the land. This tradition, which has been going on for generations, provides challenges in efforts to develop sustainable ecotourism. This research aims to understand the status of sustainable ecotourism development on Bungin Island and formulate a harmonization strategy between preserving local traditions and environmental conservation needs. This research uses a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews, observation and literature study methods. The research results show that although Bungin Island's cultural and ecotourism potential is enormous, there is a conflict between traditional practices that risk damaging marine ecosystems and environmental conservation efforts. The proposed strategy involves empowering local communities, environmental education, and implementing environmentally friendly technologies to maintain a balance between preserving traditions and developing ecotourism. With a holistic approach, it is hoped that Bungin Island ecotourism can become a model for sustainable tourism management in Indonesia's coastal areas
