Abstract

This study aims to determine the linguistic politeness strategies and linguistic characteristics that include formal and informal greetings and language functions in Daniel Cohan's film "Comme un Chef". This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method with a pragmatic approach. The source of the data for this study is speech that adheres to linguistic politeness. This data collection uses the method of listening by systematically observing and recording. The theory used was Brown and Levinson's language politeness theory including four strategies, namely the bald-on record strategy, positive politeness strategy, negative politeness strategy, off-record politeness strategy and silent strategy. The results showed that positive politeness strategies were more dominantly used than other politeness strategies, namely frank politeness strategies, negative politeness strategies, vague politeness strategies, and silent politeness strategies. Positive politeness strategies are realized by giving or asking for reasons and giving gifts (sympathy or appreciation). Negative politeness strategies are realized by minimizing the burden of requests and giving respect. Politeness strategies are vaguely realized by using gestures. Furthermore, linguistic features related to politeness, namely non-formal greetings are more dominantly used when communicating. Then, the language functions that are more often found in each politeness strategy are conative, emotive and referential.

Abstract

Aid programs for underprivileged communities need continuous data collection in overcoming welfare problems, what has happened so far is by providing direct assistance to very poor families in every village in Indonesia. Related to this, the problem that has occurred so far is that the direct assistance program is not right on target, because many deserving families should not receive the assistance. The data obtained from the village government is not accurate, it is found that data is considered invalid. This study aimed to determine the distribution of sewing equipment recipients in the best cluster, for sewing equipment recipients in Greged Village, Cirebon Regency. As one way to improve data accuracy, a computational method or model is needed in the form of a data mining algorithm using the k-means clustering method to generate priority groups among hundreds of citizens or the poor. The stages start from data collection, training data, and testing data that consider several criteria from household information, economic conditions, housing conditions, and the number of household members in Greged Village, Cirebon Regency. The results of the tests carried out using 155 data with the best level of accuracy were in the K3 cluster with the Davies Bouldin Index’s value o: - 0.584. With the K-Means method, it is very appropriate to determine the recipient of the sewing equipment program in Greged Village.

Abstract

Reducing the incidence of childbirth complications requires the role of the family (especially the husband). Besides, the improvement of husbands' participation in reproductive health is to provide husbands with information and to include husbands in every effort to improve reproductive health. One of the activities that husbands can do to improve the health of mothers and children is to accompany their wives during the delivery process. The design of this study was quasi-experimental with a post-test-only control group design. In addition, the treatment given to the respondents was a video "SUMPING" (Husbands’ Support Accompany) to find out the difference in motivation between the treated and non-treated groups. In addition, the sample in this study was part of the birth attendant at PMB Tanjungpinang City, which was divided into two groups: treatment and control groups. Also, the minimum sample is 30 for each group; therefore, the total sample is 60 people. Furthermore, the sampling technique used purposive sampling following the inclusion criteria. Thus, this study concludes that the "SUMPING" video has effectively increased the husband's motivation to accompany the mother during childbirth because it attracts attention, increases respondents' interest, and easy to understand. Hopefully, the "SUMPING" video can be a recommendation as a media for health education to husbands in the pregnant women class program and prepare for husbands to accompany the mother's childbirth
