Abstract

Hanjeli Tourism Village, located in Sukabumi Regency, West Java, has great potential for developing nature-based tourism and local culture, particularly through its superior commodity, the hanjeli plant. However, the village faces significant challenges in terms of promotion and management of tourism information, which still relies on conventional methods. This community service activity (Abdimas) aims to increase the competitiveness of Hanjeli Tourism Village by developing a website as an integrated digital platform. This website is designed to improve the accessibility of tourism information, simplify the process of booking tour packages, and promote destinations and local products based on hanjeli. The website's main features include information on tourist destinations, homestays, photo galleries, and local products based on hanjeli plants. The website development is also accompanied by training for village managers to improve their digital and managerial skills in managing this platform effectively. The implementation of this website is expected to increase the number of tourist visits, introduce untapped tourism potential to its full potential, and empower the local community in digital management and online marketing. Furthermore, this website also serves as a platform to promote locally made hanjeli-based products, such as snacks, health drinks, and handicrafts, managed by the village's MSME group. Through website development and digital training, it is hoped that the capacity of the Hanjeli Tourism Village community will be increased in managing and promoting local products more professionally and efficiently.

Abstract

Desa Wisata Hanjeli has significant potential in terms of natural resources, cultural heritage, and local agricultural attractions. However, the management of tourism promotion and services has not yet been optimal, resulting in limited reach to a broader market. This community service activity aims to support the development of Desa Wisata Hanjeli through the application of appropriate technology in the form of website-based digitalization of homestay services and tourism packages. The implementation methods include partner needs analysis, web-based information system design, technology usage training for managers, and assistance in managing content and online reservation services. The developed website presents the village profile, homestay information, thematic tourism packages, and an easy-to-access booking facility for tourists. The results indicate that this digitalization improves the visibility of the tourism village, expands promotional reach, and provides convenience for tourists in accessing information and making reservations. In addition, the local community gains increased capacity in managing digital technology, enabling greater independence in marketing tourism products. Through this implementation, Desa Wisata Hanjeli is expected to enhance its competitiveness, strengthen the community-based economy, and promote sustainable tourism village development through the utilization of appropriate website-based technology.

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has brought significant changes across various sectors, including education. One of the major challenges faced by educators is how to deliver learning materials in an engaging, creative, and interactive manner so that students can more easily understand the concepts being taught. Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), as faith-based educational institutions, play a strategic role in shaping morally grounded and competitive generations. However, teaching and learning processes in pesantren are generally still dominated by traditional methods that lack variety, which may reduce students’ learning motivation. This community service program aims to improve the quality of learning through the implementation of AI-based instructional media at Pesantren Agrobusiness Tunas Quran. The approach integrates digital technology with storytelling techniques to create learning experiences that are interactive, creative, and contextually relevant. The program activities include training teachers in the use of AI for developing instructional media, mentoring the implementation of AI-supported learning in the classroom, and evaluating the effectiveness of the applied methods. The expected outcomes of the program include enhanced pedagogical and technological competencies of teachers, increased learning motivation among students, and the availability of innovative and sustainable instructional media. Furthermore, this program is expected to serve as a model for digital transformation in pesantren, enabling them to adapt to technological advancements while preserving Islamic values. The results of the training demonstrate that the “Training on the Utilization of Artificial Intelligence in Developing Instructional Media at Pesantren Agrobusiness Tunas Quran, Bandung Regency” was highly effective and well received by the participants.

Abstract

The global tourism landscape is witnessing a significant paradigm shift toward authentic, meaningful, and sustainable experiences. In response, Community-Based Tourism (CBT) has emerged as a vital strategic framework. Hanjeli Tourism Village, situated within the Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu UNESCO Global Geopark, offers a distinctive Unique Value Proposition (UVP) through the cultivation of Coix lacryma-jobi L. (Hanjeli)—a nutrient-dense functional food deeply embedded in local cultural heritage. Despite this potential, the destination faces critical branding and digital promotion deficits, resulting in a strategic misalignment between its intrinsic brand identity and its perceived image among prospective travelers. This study examines a strategic marketing intervention leveraging narrative marketing and visual storytelling via promotional videos. By transforming Hanjeli’s core tangible and intangible assets into a cohesive brand narrative, this approach aims to enhance brand awareness and stimulate visit intentions. Beyond marketing objectives, the intervention is designed to catalyze positive socio-economic and socio-cultural outcomes for the local community, fostering long-term resilience and sustainability.

Abstract

Indonesian Migrant Workers (Pekerja Migran Indonesia-PMI) constitute a vulnerable population that frequently encounters family-law problems, particularly marriages that are religiously valid but not formally registered. From a legal standpoint, marriage registration is mandatory as an instrument to ensure legal certainty and family protection. In practice, however, many PMI marriages abroad remain unregistered due to limited access to legal information, cross-border administrative barriers, institutional fragmentation, and jurisdictional differences. This situation creates legal uncertainty regarding the status of spouses and children, obstructing the fulfillment of civil rights, access to public services, and family-law protections, thus undermining the state’s mandate to protect PMI and their families. This cross-border Community Service Program (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat-PKM) aims to bridge the gap between legal norms and lived realities through an integrated itsbat nikah (judicial marriage validation) service model implemented in Kuching, Malaysia. The program employs a socio-legal approach using a participatory community-engagement design combined with applied doctrinal legal research. Data were collected through regulatory review, field observation, limited interviews with PMI and stakeholders, and administrative and legal assistance. Qualitative analysis connected the regulatory framework of marriage, civil registration, and migrant-worker protection with legal service delivery and the social impacts experienced by migrant families. The program’s outcomes indicate that an integrated itsbat nikah model enhances legal certainty for PMI families through judicial validation of marriage and the integration of legal documentation into civil registration processes. The program recommends strengthening cross-border integrated legal services and updating technical policies to better address the structural vulnerabilities of PMI as part of broader efforts to expand access to justice.

Abstract

The mepasah burial tradition practiced by the Bali Aga community in Terunyan Village, Bali, represents a distinctive form of local wisdom in treating the deceased through open-air placement without burial or cremation. This tradition is grounded in customary village law (awig-awig) and sustained through transcendental communication that constructs symbolic relationships between humans, ancestors, nature, and the local cosmological order. In contemporary social developments, the continuity of the mepasah tradition faces increasingly complex socio-legal challenges, including the declining internalization of awig-awig values among younger generations, the emergence of social friction due to differing interpretations of customary norms, and unequal relations between indigenous communities and external actors, particularly the tourism sector and state institutions. These challenges are exacerbated by the limited operationalization of formal recognition of customary village law within public policy practices, resulting in the marginalization of customary norms when confronted with positivist-oriented health and environmental regulations. This Community Engagement Program (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat/PKM) focuses on strengthening the customary law of Terunyan Village by positioning transcendental communication as a source of normative and cultural legitimacy in the implementation of burial traditions. The program employs a participatory socio-legal approach through the review of awig-awig, participant observation, focus group discussions (FGDs), and in-depth interviews with customary leaders and community members, in line with the constitutional recognition of indigenous communities under Article 18B paragraph (2) of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and the recognition of customary villages under Law Number 6 of 2014 on Villages. The novelty of this program lies in the design of a customary law strengthening model that integrates transcendental communication as a mediating mechanism between customary norms, the state legal framework, and external tourism pressures. The implementation results demonstrate increased collective legal awareness, strengthened social legitimacy of customary village law, and the formation of transcendental communication patterns that function as mechanisms for social conflict resolution and strategies for customary preservation. These findings affirm that the sustainability of local traditions in Bali requires a harmonious integration of customary law, community social dynamics, and transcendental communication as the foundation of equitable customary village governance.

Abstract

This study aimed to strengthen students’ and the general public’s understanding of how artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping work and to promote future-ready competencies, including strategic upskilling and reskilling. The community-service activity was delivered in Indonesia via a Zoom Meeting webinar on 28 November 2025 titled “Shaping the Future Workforce in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.” Content was prepared from key reports on AI and work. Participant registration and feedback were collected using Google Forms (Google LLC). The intervention included expert talks (industry practitioner and academic), moderated discussion, and Q&A. Evaluation used a post-webinar survey with 5 point Likert items and open-ended questions. Participants reported clearer awareness of AI-driven job changes, emerging roles, and the importance of data/AI literacy. Key themes were continuous learning, building practical portfolios, and responsible AI use (bias, privacy, and validating AI outputs). The findings rely on self-reported perceptions from a single webinar, without a pre–post test, objective skill measures, or long-term follow-up. This study offers a replicable, low-cost webinar model for workforce-readiness education and contributes to HR development and digital-talent training by translating AI trends into actionable, practical competency guidance for higher education and community partners.

Abstract

Food insecurity remains a persistent challenge in the Papua Highlands of Indonesia, driven by geographic isolation, limited infrastructure, low agricultural productivity, and high dependence on external food supplies. This study aims to identify priority strategies for strengthening food security through a community-based local food system approach by applying the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The analysis is structured around the four dimensions of food security proposed by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), namely availability, access, stability, and utilization. Data were collected from key stakeholders through pairwise comparison questionnaires, complemented by focus group discussions and in-depth interviews. The results indicate that food availability is the most dominant criterion, followed by access, stability, and utilization. Across all dimensions, Local Food Production emerges as the highest-priority alternative, highlighting the strategic importance of strengthening upstream agricultural capacity to ensure sufficient and sustainable food supply. Infrastructure and Market Access ranks second, emphasizing the role of transportation, storage, and market connectivity in improving distribution efficiency and affordability. Community-Based Food Institutions and Nutrition Programs and Social Protection function as complementary interventions, supporting governance, coordination, and the protection of vulnerable groups. The convergence of the AHP results with the FAO food security framework and the Food Security and Vulnerability Atlas (FSVA) of the Indonesian National Food Agency (BPN) confirms that structural strengthening of local food systems, supported by infrastructure development and institutional capacity building, constitutes the most effective pathway for enhancing food security and resilience in the Papua Highlands. These findings provide an evidence-based basis for formulating integrated and context-sensitive food security policies in remote and highland regions.
