Abstract

In the rise of the digital age, microteaching is an excellent factor in education. Education usually uses microteaching as their teaching method because this study described the experiences encountered by Math preservice teachers in microteaching. This study utilized the qualitative approach using phenomenological design. The study participants included ten math preservice teachers who underwent microteaching for the school year 2021-2022 and were selected through purposive sampling. The researcher used a researcher-made interview guide to elicit data from the participants using Moustakas' structured method of data analysis. Results revealed four themes: 1.) Mixed Emotions in Preparing for Microteaching; 2.) Efficiency of Learning Materials for Microteaching; 3.) Technical Difficulties in Actual Teaching 4.) Realizing One's Ability in Teaching. This study concluded that microteaching helps math preservice teachers in their teaching careers and develops abilities and strategies that they acquire to enable them to become effective teachers. However, they also encountered negative experiences in microteaching. The math preservice teacher developed negative emotions in preparing for microteaching and experienced technical difficulties in the actual demonstration. The study recommends that teachers explore other microteaching techniques in advance programming for editing digital materials and platforms, including Office 365 and Google Suite, and let the math preservice teacher with no laptops and unstable internet connection use the Media Resource Laboratory. Future researchers must conduct another study exploring the factors of developing negative and positive reactions in microteaching.

Abstract

This research analyzes the relationship between school-based financial management and the quality of educational services in secondary schools in Penajam Paser Utara. A qualitative approach using a case study method is employed to gain an in-depth understanding. Primary and secondary data were collected through interviews with school principals, treasurers, and teachers. The findings indicate that financial planning begins by identifying the sources of school income, such as Operational Assistance for Schools, Regional Operational Assistance for Schools, School Canteen, Endowments, School Housing Assets, and School Cooperatives. The formulation of the School Budget Plan is carried out through meetings to develop school programs. Fund allocation takes into account priority programs, and the organization of financial management involves consensus in forming personnel for school financial execution. School principals build effective relationships among personnel through the delegation of tasks. The implementation of school-based financial management involves expenditure procedures aligned with planning and transaction recording for accountability. Supervision is carried out through monthly financial report examinations, appreciation for successful actions, and accountability through accountability letter reports and audit results. Financial reporting and accountability are publicized on the school information board to demonstrate the overall effectiveness and accountability of the financial management process.

Abstract

This study uses the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as a theoretical framework to investigate the significant effects of online instruction during the COVID-19 epidemic at the University of Cape Coast. The main objective is to look into how the effectiveness of online learning environments affects crucial student outcomes like behaviour, engagement, technology assistance, and overall performance. The study utilised a quantitative cross-sectional design, and data collection methods included simple random sampling procedures. The study's primary focus was the unique environment of Ghana's University of Cape Coast. The Technology Acceptance Model led the inquiry, and SPSS was used for statistical analysis. The study's findings show that the efficiency of online learning environments has a significant and favourable impact on students' performance, behaviour, and technological support. This highlights the critical role that effective online instruction plays in influencing favourable student outcomes and laying the groundwork for well-informed decisions about instructional strategies. The study's application highlights the strategic value of funding efficient virtual education systems. Educational institutions can use these insights to enhance online instruction, make the most of technology support services, and fine-tune curriculum design to improve student outcomes.

Abstract

The study identified the communication strategies (CS’s) used by the teachers in expressing themselves in English in teaching Oral Communication in Context, compared the assessments of the student-respondents and teacher-respondents, and tested if there were significant relationships among the interplaying variables. It was found out that student-respondents identified asking for clarification as Always used and message abandonment as Rarely used by the teachers. The teacher-respondents identified asking for clarification and asking for repetition as Always used and message abandonment as Rarely used by them. A Mann-Whitney U test examined the significant difference in the assessment of oral communication strategies used by teachers in expressing themselves in English while teaching the identified SHS course when student-respondents are grouped according to gender. The analysis revealed that variables such as paralinguistic devices, literal translation, code switching appeal for help, use of fillers, asking for clarification, and asking for repetition, yielded statistically significant results at .05. Kruskal-Wallis H test was done to examine if there was a significant difference in the scores in terms of oral communication strategies used by teachers in expressing themselves in English when student-respondents are grouped according to academic strand. Few identified variables such as circumlocution, message abandonment, topic avoidance , and asking for clarification, yielded statistically significant results at .05. It is recommended that teachers use only the identified most useful CS’s and avoid those that are useless.
