Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has encouraged the integration of various interactive learning media, one of which is YouTube. As a video-based platform, YouTube has the potential to enhance students' learning motivation by providing engaging, accessible, and flexible learning resources. However, empirical evidence regarding its influence on learning motivation in economics education at the senior high school level remains limited. This study aimed to examine the effect of YouTube use in economics learning on the learning motivation of tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 4 Bone. A quantitative approach with an ex post facto research design was employed. The population consisted of 200 tenth-grade students, while a sample of 30 students was selected using the simple random sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, and documentation. The research instruments met the validity and reliability requirements and were analyzed using simple linear regression with IBM SPSS Statistics. The findings revealed that the use of YouTube in economics learning had a positive and significant effect on students' learning motivation. Furthermore, YouTube contributed to improving students' learning motivation, although other factors beyond the scope of this study also influenced students' motivation. These findings suggest that YouTube can serve as an effective learning medium to promote more engaging, interactive, and student-centered economics instruction. This study provides empirical evidence supporting the integration of digital learning media in economics education and offers practical insights for teachers in optimizing YouTube to enhance students' learning motivation.

Abstract

The low level of student engagement in Economics learning, which remains predominantly teacher-centered, may negatively affect learning outcomes. One alternative to improve students' participation and academic achievement is the implementation of the Picture and Picture learning model, which utilizes visual media to facilitate the learning process. This study aimed to examine the effect of the Picture and Picture learning model on students' learning outcomes in Economics at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 15 Bone. This research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental design with a One-Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The sample consisted of 34 students from class X.G selected through random sampling. Data were collected using a learning achievement test and a student response questionnaire and were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test because the data were not normally distributed. The results indicated that the implementation of the Picture and Picture learning model improved students' learning outcomes, as reflected in the increase in the mean score from 49.81 on the pretest to 87.84 on the Posttest. Furthermore, the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test revealed a significance value of p < 0.05, indicating a statistically significant effect of the Picture and Picture learning model on students' learning outcomes. In addition, most students expressed positive responses toward the implementation of the learning model. Therefore, the Picture and Picture learning model can be considered an effective instructional alternative for improving students' learning outcomes in Economics.

Abstract

Extracurricular activities provide students with opportunities to develop discipline, leadership, character, and active learning habits beyond formal classroom instruction. Scout extracurricular activities are particularly relevant because they combine experiential learning, teamwork, responsibility, and character formation that may be associated with students’ motivation to learn. This study examines the relationship between participation in Scout extracurricular activities and student learning motivation in an Islamic senior high school context. A quantitative ex post facto design was employed involving 48 students who actively participated in Scout activities, with all members of the population included through saturated sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed through descriptive statistics, validity and reliability testing, normality and linearity testing, and simple linear regression analysis. The findings indicate a positive and statistically significant relationship between Scout extracurricular participation and student learning motivation, with a significance value below 0.001. The regression model produced the equation Y = 30.049 + 0.488X, while the coefficient of determination of 0.364 indicates that Scout extracurricular participation accounted for 36.4% of the variance in student learning motivation. These findings suggest that structured extracurricular participation is associated with stronger learning motivation and may support schools in fostering discipline, responsibility, engagement, and positive learning attitudes through experiential activities.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of Canva-based microlearning on students' knowledge retention in the Basic Vocational Subjects course for tenth-grade students of the Computer and Network Engineering Program at SMK Negeri 4 Bone. This study employed a quantitative pre-experimental approach using a one-group pretest–posttest–retest design. The participants consisted of 20 students selected through total sampling. Data were collected using validated and reliable achievement tests and classroom observations. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, and the paired-samples t-test to determine the effectiveness of the learning intervention. The results reveal that students' learning achievement improved after the implementation of Canva-based microlearning, as indicated by higher posttest scores compared with pretest scores. The delayed retest also demonstrated a high level of knowledge retention, indicating that most of the acquired knowledge was maintained one week after the learning intervention. Statistical analysis further confirmed significant differences between students' pretest and posttest scores as well as between posttest and retest scores, demonstrating the effectiveness of the intervention. The findings of this study suggest that Canva-based microlearning effectively enhances students' conceptual understanding while supporting short-term knowledge retention through concise, structured, and visually engaging learning materials. These findings provide empirical evidence of the effectiveness of Canva-based microlearning in promoting sustainable learning outcomes in vocational education.

Abstract

Local history integration in Environmental and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning at elementary schools remains limited, particularly in 3T (frontier, outermost, disadvantaged) areas such as SDN Kecil Buntu Kaiyang, Enrekang Regency. This study aimed to analyze the needs for local-history-based digital media in IPAS learning, viewed from the needs of students, teachers, the curriculum, and the characteristics of content and media design. A descriptive qualitative approach with a need-assessment design was employed. Data were collected through classroom observation, semi-structured interviews with three homeroom teachers, the school principal, 26 students of grades IV–VI, and two community/cultural figures, a focus group discussion (FGD) with the homeroom teachers, a supporting student-interest questionnaire, and curriculum document analysis. Data were analyzed descriptively through data reduction, categorization, and source-and-technique triangulation. The results show that IPAS learning has followed the Merdeka Curriculum, but local-history content remains largely undocumented and under-integrated, constrained by limited local media, digital materials, and the school's 3T geographic conditions. Teachers, the principal, students, and community figures agreed on the strong need for contextual, interactive digital media rooted in Massenrempulu history, local kingdoms, adat traditions, and local historical figures, prioritizing video, animation, illustrated stories, digital maps, and interactive quizzes that remain usable under limited connectivity. The findings provide an empirical basis for developing a local-history-based digital media blueprint for IPAS learning in 3T elementary schools.
