The Indonesia Journal of Business Administration(IJBA) is a business journal that bridges the gap between business research and practice, evaluating and reporting on new research to help readers identify and understand significant trends in their fields. The IJBA seeks to publish papers relating to business, broadly defined. It publishes articles that address both theoretical and practical issues in the broad areas of Business Strategy and Marketing, People and Knowledge Management, Entrepreneurship and Technology Management, Decision Making and Strategic Negotiation, Operation and Performance Management, and Business Risk and Finance.Contributing academicians and researchers are encouraged to address a variety of concerns relating to all areas of business. We also encourage students to use an interdisciplinary approach to analyzing a topic, which often yields interesting and novel papers. The published articles provide valuable insight into matters of broad intellectual and practical concern to academicians and business professionals. The Journalis published three times a year: in April, July and October. The journal is mainly an outlet of MBA ITB students to publish their final project works, although it also accepts articles written by students at masters level from other institutions. A published paper is an honor that will be unambiguously beneficial for professional and academic careers, especially for those who want to attend graduate/professional schools. This means that papers written in relations to Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Management, Operations Management, Information Systems, Business Law, Corporate Ethics, and Public Policy all qualify for submission. Information on the journal format can be found in the journal's website. The number of pages must be at 10 pages. Abstract

Abstract. At this time the request for Sertifikat Laik Operasi (SLO) at PT PLN (Persero) Certification Center continues to increase, but the SLO published not optimal. There is occurs because the certification process take a long times for finished the job like looping process still found in the certification process.  The longer of certification process will be impact to publishing SLO that will be longer too and its causes pending item each year. To know the causes of certification process takes a long time the first phase is mapping the business process of this company. After mapping the business process then search the root cause using current reality tree diagram. The next phase is solve the problem using Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) so the each task will more clearly. The result of this study is to improve the business process in this company more efficient. It can be seen from the lead time that faster than before which is from more than 125 days to 123 days so that the pending item can be finished. Abstract

Abstract---This study aims to formulate the company's distribution strategy. To develop distribution strategy, internal and external corporate environmental analysis and Strategy Diamond Model are performed. The analysis begins with data collection process using interview method. Interview data is processed using qualitative research methodology Analysis result stated that PT Pupuk Indonesia's business process does not have a reliable stock procurement planning and does not integrate distribution operation activities, so currently there are fertilizer scarcity complaints in mass media. Therefore, PT Pupuk Indonesia is recommended to send the fertilizer according to the six precise principles, develop a comprehensive stock and distribution plan, implement integrated distribution control, optimize fleet usage and distribution equipment, conduct joint auction synergies, establish internal partnership between PT Pupuk Indonesia and with external parties, implement long-term service contracts, and determine optimal stockpile of fertilizers.  Keywords: Distribution, Strategy, Fertilizer, Diamond Model, Six Precise.

Abstract

Abstract - Ciputra Artpreneur is one of the subsidiaries owned by Ciputra Group, that serves as the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) of the company to concentrate in the arts business. It was built as a dedicated arts center that consists of the museum, the gallery and the theater. As the first of its kind, Ciputra Artpreneur’s challenge is to build the sustainability of itself in the disruptive era. Ciputra Artpreneur are in the state where it relies on the arts appreciation levels of Indonesian public, and in the era of competition where competitors can be considered unknown, thus making Ciputra Artpreneur’s challenge is to implement efficient and sustainable business strategy. This research will be conducted using mixed method, where the objective of this research is to identify the best business strategy and improvement needed by Ciputra Artpreneur to achieve sustainability, as well as to manage the expectations of the public. Research results show that Ciputra Artpreneur need to improve and enrich the capabilities and growth of employees as the core in handling the business units, and externally to do the integration between the three business units, and producing or bringing constant events that can strengthen Ciputra Artpreneur as a brand and as a dedicated arts center in Jakarta, Indonesia. Ciputra Artpreneur also has to have a two to five-year plan, as a guidance in establishing the goals of each year to reach sustainability in the future. The competition is getting fiercer, as many competitors are starting to see the arts business as a new potential line of business. Now is the right time for Ciputra Artpreneur to improve its strategy and implement new ideas and ways to achieve sustainability in the future.Keywords: Arts business, business strategy, sustainability, content management, improvement

Abstract

Abstract – The barbershop industry is still a promising industry because it has good growth. Increasing purchasing power of the people, supported by the ease of disseminating information about lifestyle, fashion, men’s trend, and more through the internet is one of the factors supporting the growth of this barbershop industry. This good growth makes the barbershop business becomes an attractive business for many people. As the result, many new barbershops pops up and makes competition in the barbershop industry even tighter. As a newcomer to the barbershop industry, Three Brothers Barbershop which has been open since August 2017 has difficulty finding its market share, despite its strategic position, which is located at Jalan Karang Tengah Raya, South Jakarta city. It's been a year since its opening, but Three Brothers Barbershop still suffers losses every month. This study aims to help Three Brothers Barbershop formulate its business strategy to find its market share, create a huge customer base, and gain profit. In this research, some internal analysis and external analysis will be conducted. Internal analysis was carried out using Value Chain Analysis and Business Model Canvas methods, while external analysis was carried out using PEST Analysis and Porter Five Forces methods. Results from internal and external analysis will then be summarized in the SWOT method.The results of this study indicates that actually Three Brothers Barbershop has a good assessment of its customers, but the lack of marketing efforts led to Three Brothers Barbershop. Improvements in terms of marketing, both offline and online marketing must be done by Three Brothers Barbershop to gain market share.Keywords: Barbershop industry, business strategy, internal analysis, external analysis

Abstract

Abstract - Mix Diner & Florist is a company which conducts business in the food and beverage industry, specifically the industry of restaurant chain. Mix Diner & Florist was established in 2013, and has started to gain mainstream recognition since the beginning of 2015 due to larger mass media exposures, resulting in sharp increase in revenue and profits. Nonetheless, recently Mix Diner & Florist has been experiencing relative stagnation in its revenue, while at the same time; the overall cost has been steadily increasing overtime. The stagnation in revenue may be attributed to the recent increase in the level of rivalry among competitor in the industry. Consequently, the profit margin of Mix Diner & Florist has declined. In order to overcome the current problem, it is necessary for Mix Diner & Florist to formulate strategies to increase its revenue, reduce cost and attain sustainable competitive advantage. In order to achieve the aforementioned objectives, effective business strategies need to be formulated by conducting external and internal analysis on business environment through appropriate frameworks. The analysis in this paper is conducted through two main methods: qualitative methods, which includes interview with the management team of Mix Diner & Florist and, literature review of related journals and books, secondary data obtained from various sources, as well as primary data obtained directly from Mix Diner & Florist and first-hand research.  Based on the analysis, appropriate business strategies and recommended modified business model are formulated, which are focused mainly on increasing revenue, reducing cost, and attaining overall competitive advantage. Afterwards, the formulated business strategies are further derived to create implementation plan which caters to the above mentioned goals. The implementation plan includes, among others: price adjustments, creation of new menu offerings, partnership with service companies, operational improvement, and regular training for employees. Keywords: Business Strategy, Revenue Increase, Cost Reduction

Abstract

Abstract. B-Donat is a small company that produces cakes and donuts for middle-to-lower market segments. Founded in 2012 by Effendi Ritan with a traditional small factory. The main buyer of the product from B-Donat is reseller agents who resell the donuts to end consumers through cooperation with various stores, ranging from roadside stores to traditional food stalls. Dependence on its buyers makes the company unable to determine the price for its products and must follow the market's preference for the price of the donuts. Economic downturns and volatility such as the weakening of the Rupiah exchange rate, subsidies reduction, rapid changes in socio-economy, and also the emergence of new competitors decrease the company’s net profit margin, threaten business sustainability and reduce its performance. The company wants to jack up its revenue and get the maximum profit for all of its stakeholders through enhancing its performance. Researcher gathers key issue, and their implications for the company then give proposed solutions to achieve the desired growth of the company’s performance. The company needs a set of activities to enable it performs on the desired performance which the researcher delivers in a business strategic direction.Keywords: business strategic, donuts, developing, small and medium enterprises

Abstract

Abstract—A start up training provider company has been running for one year and planning to incorporate experiential learning approach to improve its product so their client (learners) will have better learning outcome. Company needs to understand how experiential learning can deliver an optimal outcome to be gained by the learners (clients). Field research hence took place among manufacture workers at Cikarang Plant as one of Company’s clientele in December 2017. Research is designated to identify learners’ current learning styles and how they can gain benefit from experiential learning program. Analysis is using Learning Styles Questionnaire (LSQ) test by Honey & Mumford.  Test is performed among 30 employees with age ranging from 18 to 53 years old having high school to undergraduates as their last education and have working experience between 0 to 35 years. Conclusion is that 60% of their learning style is Activist-pragmatist. This style preference is caused by their age background and cognitive quotient accumulated throughout their life experience. There are two experiential learning solutions offered to enable an effective improvement of their learning styles. Those are audio-visual and on-line simulation game to be implemented by Company’s facilitators and adapted into identified learning styles.  Keywords: Learning Styles Questionnaire (LSQ), Experiential Learning, employee development, training program

Abstract

Abstract. Roffee’s Dessert was established in Bandung City since November 2013. This company sells a new kind of dessert called soft pudding. The difference is it has a really smooth texture that will melt in the mouth.  Compared to the competitors Roffee’s Dessert has some advantages that are offer a high quality product with an affordable price. As a startup company Roffee’s Dessert encountered several issues which are low distribution, low brand awareness, and store location that is not strategic. All these issues affect the sales performance of Roffee’s Dessert. In order to solve the issues, the author analyzes the company’s condition using Porter’s 5 Forces, 5P’s Marketing Mix, and Competitor analysis. After analyzing the condition of the company, it is found that the root cause of the problems are there is no well planned marketing program and all the activities are still done by the owner alone. In order to generate the strategies, the author use SWOT analysis and TOWS matrix. After that STP process is used to as a tool to create the 5P’s marketing mix that is derived from strategies generated in TOWS matrix. The solutions proposed in this thesis is in the form of new 5P’s marketing mix that will attract customers, widen distribution, improve branding, and increase brand awareness. The proposed solutions for are open new store, improve value proposition, redesign the packaging, create marketing plan, make promotion programs, and hire marketing employees to increase the number of consignment places. All the solutions are planned to be implemented in 12 months. By implementing all of the solutions, it is expected that after 12 months all the issues that currently encuntered by the company will be resolved and the sales performance will be improved. Keywords: Dessert, Food, Marketing strategies, Marketing Mix

Abstract - United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Indonesia is an international organization work as one of the representative program by United Nations. UNDP Indonesia was founded on 22 November 1965 in Jakarta together with the head office. United Nations Development Programme Indonesia is the international organization with multicultural diversity. The employee including the managers and the staff at United Nations Development Programme Indonesia working based on the work culture inside the organization. Multicultural diversity at United Nations Development Programme Indonesia make the managers used to think how to get engage with the staff that have cultural diversity. Managing employee engagement with cross cultural leadership style would be a challenge for the managers, and the staff support the manager job together to reach the objectives. This research using qualitative method to gain the data more complex. In this research, there are eight of UNDP Indonesia employees that supporting as the informants, including two expatriates manager, two local managers, two local staffs, and two expatriates staff. Abstract

Abstract -  GCG implementation was believed will help companies and countries which were in a cricis condition rising towards to a better conditions, competitive and restore the investor confidences. Therefore, the improvement of GCG implementation in Indonesia, especially for Publicly Listed Companies became main priority because it was one of the companies’ key to successful growth as well as giving long term benefits for the companies to win the bussiness competition. Many efforts were made to improve awareness of all parties about the importance of GCG implementation in Indonesia, as well as IDX which always try to improve GCG implementation of Listed Companies.This research was done to find out the impact of GCG implementation to the market performance of the companies which listed in IDX. GCG implementation will be proxied by the value of Corporate Governance Perception Index (CGPI). While company’s market performance will be proxied by PBV ratio. Besides, this research also try to find out the impact of fundamental factors, such as ROE, ROA, DER, growth and firm size to PBV. It was done to know what should be done by IDX to improve GCG implementation of the Listed Companies. This research uses multiple regression model in SPSS to test the correlation of GCG implementation, fundamental factors and company’s market performance. The samples are companies which listed in IDX from 2010-2013, have complete financial datas, and have CGPI value which released by The Indonesia Institute of Corporate Governance (IICG) from 2010-2013. The result shows that only ROE and DER variables which have significant impact to PBV at the level of significance (α) 10%. While CGPI, ROA, growth and firm size variables do not have significant impact to PBV. Those  results show that the benefit of GCG implementation to create added value to the stakeholders is still can be reflected well yet in Indonesia because of the variation of the GCG implementation that caused by the lack of strict legal rules regarding to the GCG implementation and also lack of awareness about the need of GCG implementation. Hence, IDX as one of the regulator in Indonesian Capital Market is expected to have a strict rule regarding to GCG implementation of Listed Companies and able to improve the awareness of Listed Companies, investors, and all parties in Indonesian Capital Market about the importance of GCG implementation through educational programs, seminars, and the other forms of coaching as well as incentive and reward programs. The budget to implement those plans could use budget of routine activities as well as budget specialized for workshop or seminar activities in IDX. Keywords: Good Corporate Governance (GCG), Corporate Governance Perception Index (CGPI), ROE, DER, Multiple Regression , Bursa Efek Indonesia (IDX).
