Abstract

Introduction: Elopement (menik) is a traditional wedding tradition in the Gayo community, Central Aceh. This tradition often involves young women who are not physically and mentally ready to marry and have children. This research aims to analyze the impact of reproductive health on young women who elope (menik) in the Gayo community, Central Aceh Regency, Indonesia, using a phenomenological approach. Methods: This research was conducted using qualitative phenomenological methods. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with 15 young women who eloped (menik) and 5 key informants. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. Results: Research findings show that elopement (menik) has a negative impact on the reproductive health of Gayo young women. These negative impacts include: Poor reproductive health: Young women who elope (menik) are at greater risk of experiencing pregnancy and childbirth complications, reproductive tract infections, and sexually transmitted diseases. Pregnancy and childbirth at a young age: Young women who elope (menik) generally become pregnant and give birth at a young age, which can endanger the health of the mother and baby. Lack of access to reproductive health services: Young women who elope (menik) are often prevented by stigma and social norms from accessing reproductive health services. Conclusion: Elopement (menik) has a significant negative impact on the reproductive health of Gayo young women. Preventive efforts must be made to reduce the number of elopements (menik) and increase adolescent girls' access to education and reproductive health services.

Abstract

AI chatbots have emerged as a transformative tool in public service delivery. This study aims to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of existing literature to assess the effectiveness of AI chatbots in improving efficiency, response time and user satisfaction in various public service contexts. A comprehensive literature search was conducted on the Scopus database, limiting studies published between 2018 and 2024. Inclusion criteria included quantitative studies that evaluated the impact of AI chatbots on at least one of three outcome variables: efficiency, response time, or user satisfaction. Data were extracted and effect sizes (in this case Standardized Mean Difference - SMD) were calculated for each study. Moderator analysis was conducted to investigate the influence of the type of public service, the complexity of the chatbot's tasks, the type of AI, and the level of human interaction on the effectiveness of the chatbot. Meta-analysis of 30 studies (N = 9,380) shows that AI chatbots have a significant positive effect on the efficiency of public services (SMD = 0.35, 95% CI [0.25, 0.45]), reducing response time (SMD = -0.40, 95% CI [-0.50, -0.30]), and increased user satisfaction (SMD = 0.50, 95% CI [0.40, 0.60]). Moderator analysis revealed that AI chatbots were more effective in healthcare and for simple tasks. Machine learning-based chatbots also show higher effectiveness than rule-based chatbots. In conclusion, AI chatbots offer significant potential to improve various aspects of public services. However, their effectiveness varies depending on the implementation context. These findings provide valuable empirical evidence for policymakers and practitioners to effectively design and implement AI chatbots in public services.

Abstract

E-government has become a global initiative to improve public services and citizen participation. Social media offers an interactive platform that has the potential to strengthen e-government implementation. This research aims to quantify the effectiveness of social media in various aspects of e-government through meta-analysis. A comprehensive literature search was conducted on Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar for quantitative studies published between 2018-2024. Inclusion criteria included studies that measured the impact of social media on citizen participation, transparency, collaboration, or public trust in an e-government context. Data were extracted and effect sizes were calculated for each study. Meta-analysis was performed using a random effects model. Of the 40 studies that met the criteria (N = 22,698), meta-analysis showed that social media had a moderate to large positive effect on e-government implementation. The largest effect size was seen for transparency (0.51, 95% CI: 0.33-0.70), followed by community participation (0.47, 95% CI: 0.38-0.55), public trust (0.48, 95% CI: 0.40-0.57), and collaboration (0.45, 95% CI: 0.37-0.52). Subgroup analysis revealed that Facebook was the most effective platform, especially in increasing participation. The effects of social media tend to be stronger in developing countries. Moderator analysis shows that the level of internet penetration and digital literacy do not significantly moderate the effects of social media. In conclusion, social media has proven to be an effective tool in improving e-government implementation, especially in the context of public participation and transparency. Governments are advised to strategically integrate social media into e-government initiatives, taking into account the type of platform and local context.

Abstract

The humanitarian crisis experienced by the Rohingya ethnic group has prompted a massive exodus, including to Indonesia. This research aims to analyze juridically the protection of the rights of Indonesian citizens (WNI) and Rohingya refugees in Indonesia, with a focus on humanitarian and security aspects. The meta-analysis was carried out by reviewing literature from 2018-2024, including scientific journals, government reports, and international legal documents. Qualitative analysis is used to evaluate the protection of the rights of Indonesian citizens and Rohingya refugees based on humanitarian and security principles. The results of the analysis show that there is a gap between the national and international legal framework in protecting the rights of Rohingya refugees in Indonesia. Humanitarian aspects are often ignored in policies that prioritize security aspects. This has a negative impact on the basic rights of Rohingya refugees, such as the right to life, health, education, and work. This research recommends a more comprehensive approach to protecting the rights of Indonesian citizens and Rohingya refugees, by integrating humanitarian and security aspects. Legal and policy reforms are needed to ensure the protection of the rights of Rohingya refugees in line with international standards.

Abstract

The principle of equality before the law is a crucial basis for protecting human rights, including for people with disabilities. However, its implementation still faces challenges in realizing substantive equality in the eyes of the law. This research aims to analyze studies of legal protection for people with disabilities through principles equality before the law with a thematic qualitative meta-analysis approach to identify dominant themes, trends and research gaps. This research uses a meta-analysis method by collecting data from 20 relevant simulation studies from 2018 to 2024. These studies were selected based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were analyzed qualitatively thematically to identify dominant themes, patterns and relationships between themes. Thematic analysis yielded three main themes: (1) Accommodation and accessibility, (2) Access to justice, and (3) Awareness and participation. The Accommodation and Accessibility theme is the most dominant theme, showing the importance of ensuring the physical environment, information and technology are accessible to people with disabilities. The access to justice theme highlights the need for a justice system that is inclusive and fair for people with disabilities. Meanwhile, the awareness and participation theme emphasizes the importance of increasing public awareness and participation of people with disabilities in the decision-making process. This research concludes that legal protection for people with disabilities is through principles equality before the law still requires continued efforts. Further research is needed to explore underrepresented themes, such as health rights, property rights, and protection in emergency situations. In addition, research also needs to evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions and policies proposed in these studies.

Abstract

In the competitive landscape of the Indonesian pharmaceutical industry, companies are required to continue to innovate and improve performance. Total quality management (TQM), a holistic management approach that focuses on continuous quality improvement, has been identified as a potential driver of corporate performance. However, the mechanism of how TQM influences performance, especially through competitive advantage, is still not fully understood in the context of the pharmaceutical industry. This research aims to fill this gap by investigating the mediating role of competitive advantage in the relationship between TQM implementation and company performance at PT Kimia Farma Tbk, one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in Indonesia. This research adopts a quantitative approach with a survey design. Data was collected from 128 employees of PT Kimia Farma Tbk who were randomly selected using a stratified random sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with the help of SmartPLS software. The research results reveal that TQM has a positive and significant influence on competitive advantage and company performance. Furthermore, competitive advantage is proven to partially mediate the influence of TQM on company performance. These findings underline the important role of TQM in improving the performance of pharmaceutical companies through developing competitive advantage. The managerial implication of this research is that it is important for PT Kimia Farma Tbk and other pharmaceutical companies to continue to strengthen the implementation of TQM and strategically utilize the resulting competitive advantages to achieve superior performance in an increasingly competitive market.
