Abstract

horticultural plants which are cultivated. However, there was a decrease in production due to pest attacks. This research aimed to determine the effect of giving Saliara stem extract (Lantana amara L) and Takokak fruit extract (Solanum torvum) as a botanical pesticide for fixing pests and diseases on horticultural crops in Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara. This researchwas conducted for 3 months, starting from May to July 2020, and implemented in Samarinda. Research with Randomized Block Design  (RDB), consisted of five treatments including control with five replications, T0 is the control, T1 is a mixture of water and detergent, T2 is the administration of Saliara stem extract (Lantana camara L.) with a concentration of 50%, T3 is the administration of takokak fruit extract (Solanumtorvum) with a concentration of 50% and T4 is the provision of a combination of extract and stem Saliara (Lantana camara) with 50% concentration of takokak (Solanumtorvum) fruit. Then data from observations and calculations are analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANAVA) and treatment tested with Least Significant Differences (LSD) at the 5% level. This study indicated a mixture of Saliara stem extract and Takokak fruit extract is a very significant effect in reducing pests in long bean plants with the most effective concentration of 50%.

Abstract

Ekosistem Mangrove merupakan ekosistem unik di pesisir sebagai pelindung daratan baik pelindung dari abrasi, intrusi dan sebagai habitat berbagai macam spesies. Besarnya fungsi mangrove ini akan sangat disayangkan ketika terjadi kerusakan karena akan berdampak ke berbagai aspek seperti matinya spesies, berubahnya garis pantai karena abrasi, masuknya air asin ke air tanah dan lain sebagainya sehingga perlunya pemeliharaan ekosistem ini. Pemeliharaan ini perlu dilakukan dengan pengenalan kondisi kawasan ini sehingga tindakan yang akan dilakukan lebih tepat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengenali kondisi ekosistem mangrove dan lingkungannya antara lain ancaman, kerentanan dan kerusakan yang bisa terjadi. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan analisis kualitatif semi-kuantitatif dengan statistik sederhana.. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan analisis data sekunder dan observasi lapangan. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan indeks ancaman gelombang terhadap ekosistem mangrove meliputi tinggi gelombang, arus, bentuk garis pantai dan ada tidaknya karang penghalang. Indikator tersebut merupakan indikator yang memperkuat besarnya energi gelombang. Kemudian mengguanakan indeks kerentanan mangrove dari gelombang meliputi luasnya vegetasi mangrove, zonasi mangrove dan fungsi hutan mangrove. Indikator tersebut akan memperkuat kondisi kerentanan mangrove dari gelombang. Selanjutnya tingkat kerusakaan menggunakan persamaan bencana, dimana tingkat ancaman dan kerentanan saling menguatkan terhadap kerusakan. Hasil analisis setiap indikator diklasifikasikan ke dalam 3 kelas menurut Rumus Sturgess, sedangkan tingkat kerusakan terhadap gelombang dikelaskan menurut matrik Peraturan KA BNPB No 02 Tahun 2012 yang dimodifikasi. Hasil penelitian antara lain (1) Ancaman gelombang terhadap ekosistem mangrove di Kawasan Konservasi Pulau Dua pada tingkat sedang (2) Kerentanan ekosistem mangrove terhadap gelombang di Kawasan Konservasi Pulau Dua pada tingkat sedang (3) Berdasarkan kondisi ancaman dan kerentanan maka dapat dilihat tingkat kerusakan pada kelas sedang. Dengan pengenalan kondisi ini diharapkan dapat menjadi pedoman bagi pemerintah maupun masyarakat untuk bertindak sebagai upaya pengantisipasian dan pengurangan kerusakan ekosistem mangrove dikarenakan gelombang.Keywords: ancaman, kerentanan, mangrove

Abstract

The teacher candidates must have public speaking skills in order to be able to deliver the subject matter to the students. But there are still many teacher candidates who are dare not to speak public. For that reason, it is necessary to do learning innovation which facilitates to develop speaking skill of teacher candidates. The purpose of this study was to analyze the response of teacher candidates when they implemented the PechaKucha technique at presentation. This research is a qualitative research by taking ethnography as its approach. Teacher candidates in 4 grade which amounted to 20 people is object of research. Data collection is done by observation, interview, discussion, and assessment task to obtain comprehensive data. Triangulation-based analysis data, which are fundamental in this ethnographic study. The results showed that 25% of teacher candidates stated that PechaKucha implementation was very useful in the presentation, 55% of teacher candidates stated useful and 20% stated normal, and no teacher candidates stated that there is no benefit in implementing PechaKucha presentation. So it can be concluded that the implementation of PechaKucha technique is very useful for teacher candidates to develop speaking skill.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the differences mastery of concepts and creative thinking skills among students who get through the implementation of cooperative models jigsaw with the assignment mind map and students who get through the implementation of the conventional model with assignment mind map. The method used is a quasi-experimental research design with pre test-post test control group Design. The sampling technique is done by cluster random sampling of 60 students consisting of 30 students control class and 30 students experimental class. Data collected through preliminary tests (pretest) and final test (posttest) mastery of concepts and creative thinking abilities of students. Data analysis used Mann Whitney test. Based on the results of data analysis, found the results of the first study, there were significant differences between the experimental class concept mastery and control classes (sig = 0,000 < α = 0.05), the significance of the differences between the students' ability to think creatively experimental class and control class (0.039 < α = 0.05). The conclusion was that the use of a model cooperative jigsaw with the assignment mind map better than the use of conventional models with the assignment mind map.Keywords: Jigsaw, Mind Map, Mastery of Concepts, Creative Thinking.

Abstract

Vitamin E  ditemukan oleh Evans dan Bishop pada tahun 1922 sebagai nutrisi penting dalam fungsi reproduksi mamalia. Kemudian ditemukan kembali pada tahun 1950 oleh Klaus Schwarz dalam konteks sistem antioksidan  seluler (bersama asam amino dan selenium). Vitamin E yang meliputi tokoferol dan tokotrienol, merupakan molekul larut lemak yang memainkan peran penting dalam kesehatan mamalia, namun  hingga saat ini, pemahaman mengenai mekanisme  kerja dan fungsi hayatinya masih terbatas. Vitamin E hanya disintesis oleh organisme fotosintetik, salah satunya tumbuhan hijau. Kajian ilmiah ini mengupas fungsi  hayati  vitamin E  pada tumbuhan serta perannya pada  mamalia  (meliputi  peran baru  di luar antioksidan),  didasarkan pada aspek ekofisiologis.  Vitamin E  pada tumbuhan diketahui  memiliki peran sebagai pelindung tilakoid dari cekaman oksidatif, serta sebagai antioksidan dalam respon pertahanan fotosintesis. Hal ini serupa dengan peran pada hewan, bahwa vitamin E mencegah terjadinya penyakit kronis, terutama yang terkait komponen cekaman oksidatif: penyakit jantung, aterosklerosis, dan kanker. Melalui kajian ilmiah secara komprehensif dan mendalam ini, ditemukan beberapa fungsi vitamin E di luar fungsi spesifiknya sebagai antioksidan pada tumbuhan maupun mamalia, terutama peran penting yang ditemukan pada tokotrienol.  Vitamin E  mencegah peroksidasi lipid selama masa dormansi benih, perkecambahan, dan perkembangan awal benih  (pada tumbuhan), memiliki peran dalam ‘cell signaling’, daya proteksi DNA, lemak, protein, dan berperan dalam respon imun  (pada mamalia).   Tokotrienol, sebagai salah satu jenis vitamin E, perlu mendapatkan perhatian lebih karena memiliki fungsi anti-oksidatif, anti-hiperkolesterolemik, anti-angiogenik, dan neuroprotektif yang berbeda dengan tokoferol. Penelitian tambahan diperlukan untuk menentukan situs intraseluler spesifik yang mempengaruhi fungsi tokotrienol untuk sepenuhnya memahami mekanisme efek anti-kanker dan apoptosis. Selain itu, nilai potensi senyawa ini sebagai agen kemoterapi dalam pencegahan dan pengobatan berbagai kanker perlu diteliti lebih lanjut.  Kata kunci: Vitamin E, Fungsi Hayati, Tumbuhan, Mamalia

Abstract

ABSTRAK   Pengenalan struktur tumbuhan diawali melalui pengenalan struktur makro berupa habitus dan bentuk hidup. Bentuk hidup (life form) menurut Raunkiaer’s penting dalam pengenalan struktur makro variasi pola khusus kehidupan tumbuhan. Kajian ini bertujuan mengetahui hubungan tingkat pemahaman bentuk hidup Raunkiaers dengan pemahaman struktur tumbuhan mahasiswa. Analisis hubungan pemahaman bentuk hidup Raunkiaer dengan tingkat pemahaman konsep esensial dalam struktur tumbuhan dilakukan pada perkuliahan Struktur dan Perkembangan Tumbuhan semester genap 2011-2012 mahasiswa Program Studi Biologi dan Pendidikan Biologi Fakultas Saintek Universitas Islam Negeri Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. Tiap mahasiswa memiliki tingkat pemahaman bentuk hidup Raunkiaers tertentu. Tingkat pemahaman habitus dan bentuk hidup Raunkiaers mahasiswa ternyata berhubungan signifikan (r=0,223) dengan tingkat pemahaman konseptual teoritik struktur morfologis dan anatomis tumbuhan melalui test opsional. Tingkat pemahaman habitus bentuk hidup Raunkiaers juga berhubungan signifikan (r=0,239) dengan tingkat pemahaman konseptual visual struktur tumbuhan melalui tes esay. Pemahaman habitus  dan bentuk hidup Raunkiaers tumbuhan dapat digunakan menjadi salah satu komponen indikator tingkat pemahaman dan konstruksi konsep pada perkuliahan struktur tumbuhan.   Kata Kunci: Raukiaer’s Life Form, konstruksi pemahaman struktur tumbuhan, analisis pembelajaran.

Abstract

Black rice (Oryza sativa L.) is one of germ plasm where there are many found in Indonesia. The popularity of black rice growing in line with public awareness for consuming a functional food. But the scientific study of black rice germ plasm in Indonesia still classified as low, especially the scientific study of the molecular genetik diversity. Information of molecular genetik diversity adequately on black rice germ plasm is one of the cornerstone for the development of action strategies for conservation the varieties of black rice in Indonesia in a sustainable way. The scientific study which is expected to be implemented in the form of research on black rice molecular genetik diversity is an approach of DNA barcode. Most of the genes that utilized as DNA barcode on plants is on chloroplasts DNA (cpDNA). cpDNA having the benefit characteristics for genetik diversity study compared with nuclei DNA (nDNA ) and mitochondria mtDNA. Characteristic of these is (1) the cpDNA genome have a small size and stable structure, (2) More conservative with lower average nucleotide substitution and (3) no recombination and uniparental heritable. This article discussed a potential DNA sequences of nucleotides from chloroplast DNA to give information on the genetik diversity of black rice, namely rbcL gene. Until now, NCBI database collected 143 partial sequence of rbcL gene. The number of partial sequence that has been collected is using as comparation facilitate to investigation the genetik diversity of Indonesia black rice. Abstract

This research aims to enhance Scientific Writing Skill (SWS) of students on biology through the application of guided inquiry learning with reading assignment. This research was a three cycles Classroom Action Research (CAR). Each cycle consisted of four phases, i.e. planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of this research are 30 students of Grade X MIA 7 of SMA N 4 Surakarta, consists of 11 male and 19 female students. The assessment were analyzed using scientific writing skill’s rubric adapted from Toppen (2014), which will measure the ability to develop writing creatively, use spelling and grammar correctly, communicate knowledge which consuct, and connect science and technology with whole world. This research target is the average percentage increase to 65 %. The result of this research is guided inquiry learning had effectively increased student’s SWS. The average percentage increased from 38,13 % in pre-cycle to 77,29 % in third cycle. Keywords: Guided Inquiry Learning, Reading Assignment, Scientific Writing Skill

Abstract

Anggrek merupakan tanaman yang  termasuk dalam bunga-bungaan, yang terkenal memiliki bunga yang indah, yang perlu dijaga kelestariannya.  Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menginventarisasi  flora di Kediri, khususnya anggrek di Hutan Irenggolo. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode jelajah, dengan teknik Purposive Sampling pada kawasan Hutan Irenggolo, yang dilakukan mulai September 2012  – April 2013. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah  ada  4 genus anggrek yang dtemukan di Hutan Irenggolo Kabupaten Kediri, yang terdiri anggrek terestrial, yaitu 1 Dendrobium dan anggrek epifit, yaitu 2 Cattleya, 6 Dendrobium, 5 Dendrocbilum, dan 1 Ascocentrum.  Kata Kunci : Inventarisasi, Anggrek, Irenggolo Kediri

Abstract

Globalization and the development of science and technology causehuman needs increase. This has an effect on land use, especially in watershed areas. Serayu is one of watershed in Central Java which is have problems related to land use, which occurs in the upper of the watershed.Agricultural Intensification, deforestation, an increase in population are factors that drives land use change in the upper of Serayuwatershed.Utilization of watershed areas that ignore spatial rules causes pollution and land degradation. That condition happened and this makes the Serayuwatershed one of the priority watersheds for rehabilitation in Indonesia.Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are tools that used to analyze land use changes that occurred in 2009-2019. Land use classification is derived from the interpretation of Sentinel Image 2 and land use maps in 2009. Land use is classified into six classes; water bodies (rivers, lakes, ponds), built-up areas, shrubs, forests, agriculture (rice fields, fields), empty land.
