Abstract

The  research  aims to determine  rate of water  infiltration and   soil run off  on agroforestry,  parennial  and annual  monoculture  cropping systems was conducted at  Jeru village Malang Refency. The water  infiltration rate was measured  by infiltrometer  and the soil  run off  was measured  simple ranfall simulator to make run off  on the soil.  The run off water and  soil  flowing  was   sheltered  into  a  glass   and   then weighing the dry mass of the soil.  Parameters observed  were plant species, trees architectures model, the amount of litter in the land. The results   showed  that  the  highest  water  infiltration rate  and  the lowest  soil run off  was  on multiculture agroforestry each 63,5 cm.h-1 and 0,3 g.lt-1  whereas  the  lowest  water infiltration  and  the highest  soil run off  was on  perennial  trees monoculture  cropping  system  each 30  h-1 and  2,9 g.lt-1 . The multiculture agroforestry  was  dominated by ‘waru  gunung’ (Hibiscus macrophyllus), ‘mindi’ (Melia azedarach), ‘mahoni’ (Sweitenia macrophylla), bamboes and cassava (Manihot esculenta)  that have different  tree architecture  models.  The diversity of  the tree species also  caused   varying litters  produced.  Key Word : infiltration, run off, architecture, litter

Abstract

Aim of this research is to know the effectiveness of using student worksheet in subjek matter human regulation system contains Islamic material toward the motivation and biology’s achievement of students’ cognitive in XI grade students of MA Sunan Pandanaran and to know the students’ responds. The type of this research is a quasy experimental with pretest-posttest control group design. The technique of sampling is using simple random sampling, and applying two classes, there are experiment class which using student worksheet contains Islamic material and control class which using school student worksheet. The method of collecting data use test and questionnaire. The method of analysis data use Mann Whitney U-Test, Independent Sample T-Test, and description analysis. The result of this research includes: 1) the average of learning motivation score experimental class is 79,62 and control class is 71,5. The analysis of Mann Whitney U-Test p < 0,05 means significant, so using of the student worksheet in subject matter of human regulation system contains Islamic material effective toward  learning motivation. 2) the average post-test score of experiment class is 82,9 and control class is 77,5. The analysis of Independent Sample T-Test posttest score p < 0,05 means significant, so using of the student worksheet in subject matter of human regulation system contains Islamic material effective toward  learning achievement. 3) the XI grade students giving positive responds with the percentage of the result of students’ respond in questionnaire is 79% (high category). Keywords: Islamic material, learning achievement, learning motivation, students worksheet.

Abstract

Sycanus annulicornis Dohrn. is an important predatory insect in controlling plant pests especially in soybean and rice plants. These predatory insects have a wide range of prey, especially of the order Lepidoptera. This study aimed to evaluate the growth and development of S. annulicoris fed on Tenebrio molitor L. larvae, as well as to study the mating behaviour. Growth and development of S. annulicornis reared in the laboratory were evaluated by observing the egg incubation period, fecundity, fertility, development stage and number of nymphs, nymphal mortality, sex ratio, longevity of adult insects, and the life cycles. The results showed that the egg incubation period of S. annulicornis was 15–19 days. Females laid eggs 6–9  days as much as 1–4 days after copulation egg groups containing an average of 81 ± 40 eggs for each group of eggs. The average time of the development of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th instar, respectively, were 16.6 ± 1.5; 15.1 ± 2.5; 12.0 ± 2.9; 12.4 ± 2.3; and 19.8 ± 2.1 days, with the sex ratio of male : female was 3 : 4. The nymphal mortality only was observed on 1st and 2nd instar with the precentage, respectively, were 35.2 ± 6.5% and 1.2 ± 1.6%. The mean longevity for female and male adults was 48 ± 6 and 39 ± 5 days, respectively. The life cycle of S. annulicornis for male and female were 141 ± 7 and 127 ± 8 days, respectively. Mating behaviours observed on these species comprised arousal and approach (5.2 ± 3.4 min), riding over (5.8 ± 2.7 sec), copulation (14.8 ± 3.2 min), and post-copulation (149.6 ± 188.3 min). Post-copulatory cannibalism was not observed in this species.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are to (1) To produce science learning media based Macromedia Flash 8 on the subject matter environmental pollution for students of grade VII junior high school, (2) To know the quality of science learning media based Macromedia Flash 8 on the subject matter environmental pollution can be used in science learning for student of grade VII junior high school. This research is development research (Research and Development) by using model of ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The research instrument is used a questionnaire.. The quality of instructional media is assessed by reviewers (1 media expert, 1 material expert, 1 science teacher, And response from 30 students of grade VII junior high school 5 Tuban through large and small group trial). The quality value data obtained was analyzed using qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis based on the ideal assessment category. The result of the research based on criteria of validity according to (Khabibah 2006) can be concluded that Macromedia Flash 8 based learning media on environmental pollution material is included in the valid criteria, because the average total validation result from teacher, material expert, or media expert get more score than 4. Student response data on large group trials showed 86, 66%. Based on the criteria of positive responses of students according to (Khabibah 2006), it can be concluded that the response of students to media based learning Macromedia Flash 8 environmental pollution material is included in the category very positive, because more than 85% of students give a positive response. Based on the assessment of media experts, material experts, science subjects teachers and Student response reviewed from all aspects showed the quality of science learning media based Macromedia Flash 8 including excellent category . Based on the Assessment can be concluded that the science learning mediabased Macromedia Flash 8 on the subject matter of environmental pollution developed feasible use in science learning.

Abstract

ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini untuk rneningkatkan kualitas proses dan hasil pembelajaran biologi konsep Organisasi Kehidupan dengan menerapkan Peer Mediated Instruction and Interventton (PMII) tipe Class Wide Peer Tutoring (CWPT) dan teknik evaluasi Index Card Match.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan desain penelitian yang dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus berdasarkan alur proses dari Kemmris dan Mc. Taggart. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 22 Surakarta, pada semester genap tahun pelajaran 2008/2009. Subyek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII F yang terdiri dari 38 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kajian dokumen, observasi, penyebalan angket, catatan lapangan wawancara dan hasil tes kognitif. Data dianalisis secara dekriptif kuantitatif dan kualitatif.Hasil observasi selama berlangsungnya Proses pembelajaran menggunakan model pembelajaran PMII Tipe CWPT menunjukkan perubahan afektif yang nyata pada siswa. Hal ini berdasarkan atas hasil observasi selama berlangsungnya proses pembelajaran, catatan lapangan selama penelitian diperkuat dengan respon siswa berdasarkan penyebaran angket. Secara afektif, kualitas proses pembelajaran mengalami peningkatan prosentase pada tiap-tiap siklus, yaitu 52.63 % pada siklus I, 78.95%, pada siklus II, dan 89.41% pada siklus III.Aspek afektif dalam penggunaan teknik evaluasi Index Card Match baru menampakkan hasil yang positif pada saat dilaksanakan secara berkelompok pada siklus III. 100% siswa telah turut terlibat secara aktif dan memahami sepenuhnya pelaksanaan teknik evaluasi Index Card Match. Hasil tes kognitif rnenggunakan teknik evaluasi Index Card Match juga baru menampakkan hasil yang nyata pada siklus III. Dari 4 kelompok yang dibentuk dalam satu kelas, 3 kelompok siswa mampu nrenyelesaikan dengan tuntas seluuh soal yang tersedia atau 75o/o siswa telah tuntas. Selanjutnya, ketika dilaksanakan evaluasi akhir pada konsep Organisasi kehidupan ini, siswa yang mendapat nilai di atas Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal mencapai 28 siswa atau 73,68% dari total siswa di kelas VII F.Kata Kunci: classwide peer tutoring, hasil pembelajaran biologi, Index card match.

Abstract

Biologi merupakan ilmu pengetahuan alam yang mempelajari tentang kehidupan organisma, termasuk struktur, fungsi, pertumbuhan, evolusi, distribusi dan taksonomi. Dewasa ini perkembangan biologi sangat pesat dan saling berkaitan dengan ilmu pengetahuan lain seperti kimia, fisika dan matematika. Perkembangan biologi menghasilkan percabangan ilmu baru seperti biokimia dan biologi molekul yang menjadi motor laju perkembangan biologi. Biokimia yang sering disebut sebagai kimia biologi merupakan pengeta huan tentang proses kimia dalam dan berhubungan dengan organisma hidup, seperti reaksi kimia dalam sel dan proses metabolisme untuk menghasilkan energi. Sedangkan biologi molekul merupakan cabang biologi yang membahas tentang aktifitas biologi yang berbasis pada tingkatan molekul. Biologi molekul berhubungan sangat erat dengan biokimia, genetika, fisika dan matematika. Biologi molekul memfokuskan dalam interaksi sel termasuk interaksi antara molekul DNA, RNA dan protein serta regulasi interaksinya. Adanya penemuan struktur dan fungsi materi genetik DNA yang mengatur proses biokimiawi sel dan pesatnya perkembangan penelitian tehnik biologi melekul, telah menghasilkan teknologi baru dalam bentuk multidisiplin bioteknologi. Bioteknologi tidak saja diartikan sebagai suatu teknik eksploitasi potensi biomikiawi organisma, tetapi merupakan suatu tehnik memilih dan mengembangkan sifat genetis unggul suatu organisma. Pengembangan bioteknologi ini baik dalam bidang biologi kedokteran, hewan, mikroba maupun tanaman telah dirasakan manfaatnya bagi kehidupan manusia. Bahkan terintegrasi dengan bidang dasar fisika dan matematika, mampu mengembangkan bidang kajian bioteknologi molekul yang dapat digunakan untuk mempelajari proses biologi secara tepat dan menghasilkan produk baru yang lebih bermanfaat. Aplikasi bioteknologi molekul ini berhasil mengembangkan obat-obatan, vaksin, terapi, diagnosa penyakit serta aplikasi bidang pertanian dalam konsep molecular farming dan bidang industri. Pesatnya perkembangan biologi menuntut pemahaman dan pembelajaran yang tepat dan memadai. Saat ini mempelajari biologi tidak cukup h anya pada tingkat ukuran meter, sentimeter atau mikrometer. Pada era nano-teknologi, suatu molekul biologi DNA, RNA ataupun protein dapat ditentukan struktur dan fungsinya, sehingga dapat dipelajari mekanisme interaksi molekul dan reaksi biokimianya secara tepat. Oleh karena itu pembelajaran dan pemahaman bidang dasar biologi molekul sangat penting dalam rangka pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi. Pada kesempatan seminar ini juga akan dibahas tentang keberhasilan pengembangan bioteknologi kesehatan, industri, lingkunga n dan pertanian termasuk keberhasilan pengembangan bioteknologi tebu di Universitas Jember

Abstract

Indonesia is rich in biodiversity , one of which various types of nuts that could potentially be a functional food products , one of which Tolo beans protein sources with high nutritional value (20-25 g/100g), B vitamins (thiamin , riboflavin , niacin , folic acid), minerals (Ca, Fe, P, K, Zn, Mg, etc ), and fiber . Not many products are developed into products Tolo beans yogurt . Yogurt is milk coagulation products produced through fermentation of lactic acid bacteria (Streptococcus thermophilus and bulgaricus Lactobaccilus). The purpose of the study, namely ,i) determine the effect of strawberry extract for quality improvement through organoleptic tests ,ii) determine the content of vitamin C and protein extracts with the addition of strawberryyogurt, iii ) optimizing the addition of strawberry extract to obtain optimum quality yogurt with a distinctive flavor of yogurt . The method used experiments with four perlakua , among others . without the addition , treatment of the second, third and fourth with the addition of strawberry extract 10, 20 and 30 cc/100cc canglo yogurt , with 2 kinds of bacterial inoculum of each 6 ml / treatment . The study design with completely randomized (CRD) of the factor is the addition of strawberry extract . Data were analyzed qualitatively (simple statistics) and quantitatively with Anova one lane . The results showed that the yogurt Canglo acceptable by the panelists . Yogurt canglo with the addition of strawberry extract preferred by panelists with a distinctive flavor and aroma , soft texture , but the most preferred in the treatment BA3 (extract strobery 30 cc) , because it has aroma , flavor , color , texture and acidity right , which indicated the quality organoleptiknya most good . Highest levels of vitamin C yaitu10 , 296 mg/100 cc yogurt , and protein content 4.84 % / 100 cc yogurt . Based on the research it can be concluded that the addition of strawberry extracts affect the quality canglo yogurt , protein, and levels of vitamin C. Suggestions for further research are expected to be more creative in choosing additional ingredients , so as to increase the levels of vitamin C and protein. Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian dalam bentuk longitudinal survei tentang burung yang ada di Danau Meno. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat dinamika populasi burung untuk digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran bio ekologi burung yang ada di Lombok. Pengamatan jenis burung dilakukan secara langsung menggunakan metode penjelajahan dengan bantuan teropong binokuler. Pengamatan dilakukan sejak tahun 2000 sampai dengan 2012. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berbagai jenis burung yang ditemukan di Danau Gili Meno menunjukkan variasi dalam hal jumlah jenis burung maupun kelimpahan relatifnya. Terdapat kecenderungan bahwa jumlah jenis burung yang ditemukan mengalami penurunan dari tahun ke tahun. Beberapa jenis burung yang ditemukan dikategorikan sebagai burung endemik dan dilindungi UU. Ditemukannya jenis  burung dengan kategori ini menunjukkan bahwa Danau Meno merupakan suatu kawasan yang memiliki arti penting sebagai habitat yang mendukung kehidupan jenis-jenis burung  yang bernilai penting dalam konservasi. Sehubungan dengan hal tersebut Danau Meno ini sangat cocok digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran untuk kegiatan pengamatan burung (bird watching) terutama bagi para pemula maupun peneliti yang ingin mendalami Bio Ekologi burung.  Kata Kunci : Burung, Danau Meno, Media Pembelajaran, Lombok Utara

Abstract

Some endophytic fungi live in medicinal plant tissue, include medicinal plant. This research was done to: 1) determine the endophytic fungi position in the Cananga odorata  plant tissue by histological observation; 2) identify the endophytic fungi species isolated from the leaf, twig, and petal flower of C. odorata. The position determination of endophytic fungi in the C. odorata plant tissue is done by microscopic observation. The endophytic fungi were isolated from the leaf, twig, and flower petal of C. odorata  plant by cutted these plant parts, then inoculated on Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) medium and incubated in 27oC during 7 x 24 hours, each fungi that grow on the PDA medium were isolated, then the morphology and microscopic characteristic of each fungi colony isolates were described. Each endophytic fungi isolates were identified. The research result were:  1) the endophytic fungi position are on the epidermis cell wall and on the stomata guard cell wallof the leaf tissue, on the parenchymal cell wall of the twig tissue, and on the epidermis cell wall of the flower tissue; 2) Nine endophytic fungi species were isolated from the C. odorata leaf, twig, and flower petal are: Nigrospora sphaerica, Colletotrichum alienum,Mycellia sterilia1, C. kahawae, Rhizoctonia sp., C. aotearoa, Micellia sterilia2, C. alatae, dan C. queenslandicum.

Abstract

This research aimed to ascertain: 1) inventoring and documenting local plantsin surrounding Muria mountain as an effort to do conservation of local potential in Kudus; 2) utilizing local plants as a source of learning biology. Research started with descriptive exploratory aboutlocal plants surrounding Muria mountain. After it, analyze the potential of local plants as a source of learning. The result from explorative descriptive shows that local plants parijoto, pisang byar, jeruk pamelo, pomegranate, pakis kathok and pakis have great potential to be developed. local plants can potentially be as learning resource for learning biology for high school students based on the study of literature. Keywords: local potential, local plants, learning resources
