Abstract

ABSTRAK Albinisme merupakan kelainan genetik autosomal resesif  berupa gangguan sintesis melanin yang terjadi pada manusia. Albinisme dibagi menjadi dua kelompok besar, yaitu Ocular Albinism (OA) dan Oculocutaneous Albinism (OCA). Berdasarkan gen yang mengalami mutasi, OCA dibedakan menjadi 4 tipe yaitu OCA1, OCA2, OCA3 dan OCA4. OCA4 disebabkan mutasi pada gen MATP. Penelitian yang telah dilakukan dengan PCR-SSCP (Polymerase Chain Reaction-Single Stranded Conformation Polymorphism) mendeteksi adanya mutasi pada ekson 5 gen MATP, pada penderita albinisme di Wonosobo, Jawa Tengah. Sekuensing ekson 5 gen MATP dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi tipe mutasinya. DNA diisolasi dari sampel darah penderita dan digunakan sebagai template untuk amplifikasi ekson 5 gen MATP dengan metode PCR. Produk PCR selanjutnya digunakan sebagai template untuk sekuensing dengan metode Sanger. Hasil sekuensing dianalisis menggunakan program Clustal-W dan dibandingkan dengan sekuens ekson 5 gen MATP dari International DNA Data Base (nomer akses AF172849.1). Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya pada perubahan basa nukleotida no.1122 dari C menjadi G (c.1122 C>G) yang mengakibatkan mutasi missense, yaitu fenilalanin menjadi leusin, pada asam amino nomer 374 (p.374 Phe/Leu).   Kata kunci : OCA4, mutasi, ekson 5, gen MATP

Abstract

Tourism is a prime sector that is one of the most important factors in the region development and the communitywelfare improvement in a country, which has continuous expansion and diversification and become one of thelargest growth sectors in the world. Increased tourism destinations make the tourism as a key factor in revenue,job creation, business and infrastructure development so that required more advanced planning. This tourismplanning is not intended to damage the environment but it must be planned and implemented to the environmentthat supports the sustainable development. One of the technologies used in some tourism research is GeographicInformation System (GIS) technology. Utilizing GIS technology is expected to be able to analyze the spatialaspects of an area so the existing of tourism potencies can be developed into an optimal object and touristattraction that can attract tourists both domestic and foreign. The aim of this article is to determine the benefitsof Geographic Information System technology in tourism development based on literature studies of previousstudies.

Abstract

Gastropod is a biotic component which is important in river ecosystem. Gastropod will respond the changes of physical and chemical condition of the river so that it can be the bio-indicator of the contamination. This research is aimed to know the diversity of gastropod as bio-indicator of contamination of leachate of Jatibarang dumping ground in Kreo river Semarang City. This research was conducted on April until June 2015. Gastropod sample was got using purposive sampling using Surber Net. Gastropod sampling was conducted in three station with three sampling spots in each station, physical-chemical factor measurement including temperature, brightness, pH, COD, DO and BOD was also conducted in every station. The analysis of research result showed that diversity index and the number of gastropod decreased in station which was contamined by leachate. The contaminated station was station II. Diversity index was 0,66094 and the number of gastropod was 114 ind/m2. This condition was different compared to station I which had not been contaminated. In station I, diversity index was 1,03255 and the number of gastropod was 175 ind/m2. So was the station which got the recovery, the station III, where diversity index was 0,82691 and the number of gastropod was 140 ind/m2. Statistical analysis result also showed that gastropod diversity correlated strongly to temperature, brightness, pH, COD, DO and BOD on Kreo river. This result showed that gastropod responded the changes of physical-chemical condition of Kreo river which was caused by the contamination of leachate of Jatibarang dumping ground. From the research result, it can be concluded that gastropod diversity on Kreo river can be used as bio-indicator of the contamination of leachate of Jatibarang dumping ground.Keywords: leachate, Jatibarang dumping ground, gastropod, Kreo river

Abstract

The purpose of this research to describe the strength and the weakness factors from microteaching activities which held in Mathematics and Science Faculty Laboratory, Surabaya State University. This descriptive research use in-depth interview technique and questionnaire. The data were obtain from 25 lecturers of Field Experience I Subject, 100 students who already take this program and also 15 learning laboratory crew on Mathematics and Science Faculty. The result of this research report that: (1) The strength of microteaching activities in Mathematics and Science Faculty werelean on the lecturers who doing shooting and editing by him/herself which already trained through workshop, and video learning of the result microteaching used by student and lecturer for reflections, (2) The weakness of microteaching activities in Mathematics and Science Faculty were the quality of result microteaching video should be improve. Keywords: microteaching, Mathematics and Science Faculty State University of Surabaya

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian pengujian enam jenis insektisida nabati terhadap trips (Thrips palmi) pada tanaman kentang dilakukan di Laboratorium Kelompok Peneliti Hama dan Penyakit, Balai Penelitian Tanaman Obat dan Aromatik Bogor, sejak bulan Mei sampai Juli 2010. Penelitian bertujuan untuk memperoleh insektisida nabati yang efektif terhadap hama trips (T. palmi) pada tanaman kentang . Minyak nabati yang digunakan adalah minyak cengkeh, minyak serai wangi, minyak kayu manis, formula minyak cengkeh dan minyak serai wangi (2 formula), serta formula minyak cengkeh dan minyak kayu manis. Minyak cengkeh, serai wangi dan kayu manis sebelum diuji diformulasi dengan xylen dan tween 20 masing-masing formula insektisida nabati konsentrasi 0,5%. Aplikasi dilakukan ke tanaman kentang (Solanum tuberosum) yang sudah diinfestasi dengan trips (T. palmi), masing-masing ulangan 10 ekor. Selanjutnya dikurung dengan kain kasa dan diikat dekat pangkal batang. Pengamatan dilakukan dengan cara menghitung mortalitas trips (T. palmi) pada hari ke 1, 2, 3 dan 4 setelah aplikasi. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 7 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua insektisida nabati yang diuji efektif terhadap trips (T. palmi), dengan mortalitas tertinggi 100%. Abstract

Abstract - This research aimed to study the effect of storage temperatures and durations on the physico-chemical characteristics of chilli (Capsicum annuum) puree.The storage was done by using laminated aluminium foil at the storage temperature 5, 28 and 45oC for 10 weeks of storage. The characteristics observed during storage were pH, water activity and Capsaicinoid content of chilli puree. Based on the results, it can be concluded that different storage temperatures gave significant effect on water activity and Capsaicinoid content of chilli puree, storage duration gave significant effect on pH, water activity and Capsaicinoid content of chilli puree. The combination of storage temperatures and durations gave significant effect on the pH and water activity but not on the Capsaicinoid content of chilli puree. Abstract

Maja leaves (Crescentia cujete L.) is one type of plant that has the potential to be antibacterial. The bioactive compounds in maja leaves that function for antibacterials are saponin and tannin. The purpose of this research was to determine the antibacterial effect of maja leaf extract on E. coli and S. aureus bacterial growth. The research method was used experimental research using the basic design of a completely randomized design (RAL) and the data were analyzed using a one-way Anava test. Based on the results of the test it was found that C. cujete L. leaf extract was the most effective for inhibiting the E. coli and S. aureus bacteria growth with 25% leaf extract concentration. The diameter of inhibition zone was formed 10,66 mm in E. coli and 12,33 mm in S. aureus.

Abstract

ABSTRAK   Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada aspek kognitif dan afektif dalam proses pembelajaran Biologi khususnya pokok materi ekosistem menggunakan pembelajaran model Talking Stick. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian tindakan kelas bersifat kolaboratif antara peneliti yaitu sebagai pelaku yang memberikan tindakan kelas dengan guru mata pelajaran biologi sebagai subjek yang membantu dalam perencanaan dan pengumpulan data. Subjek penelitian tindakan yaitu siswa kelas VII D SMP Negeri 3 Kartasura, Sukoharjo yang berjumlahkan 35 siswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus, masing-masing siklus terdiri dari  perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Pengumpulan data dilaksanakan dengan teknik dokumentasi, observasi, dan post test. Analisis data yang digunakan dengan teknik deskriptif kualitatif yang terdiri atas tahap reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan hasil belajar siswa dalam pembelajaran biologi. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari peningkatan banyaknya siswa yang tuntas KKM (≥69) yaitu sebelum adanya tindakan terdapat 7 siswa (20%), pada siklus I meningkat menjadi 23 siswa (65,8%), dan setelah pelaksanaan siklus II menjadi 31 siswa (88,6%) tuntas. Peningkatan ketuntasan KKM siswa menjadikan rata-rata kelas turut meningkat yaitu dari sebelumnya 55,77 menjadi 73,06 dan meningkat lagi menjadi 74,77. Peningkatan pada aspek afektif dilihat dari hasil penskoran tiap indikator yang menunjukkan peningkatan minat belajar biologi. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari peningkatan prosentase ketuntasan siswa, yaitu pada siklus I sebanyak 25,7% menjadi 65,7% pada siklus II. Berdasarkan penelitian tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran model Talking Stick terbukti dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada pokok materi ekosistem kelas VII D SMP Negeri 3 Kartasura, Sukoharjo tahun pelajaran 2011/2012.   Kata kunci : Hasil belajar, Talking Stick, ekosistem.

Abstract

In the curriculum of 2013 critical thinking ability is a demand that must be implemented, but in reality the process of learning in the class has not been empowering students' critical thinking skills. Then besides critical thinking another aspect to note is the aspect of cognitive style. This study aims to determine the ability of critical thinking students cognitive reflective and impulsive style. The subjects of this study are the students of class VII A SMP Negeri 4 Tuban as many as 23 students, with 13 students with reflective cognitive style, and 10 students with cognitive impulsive style. Data collection technique in this research is MFFT (Matching Familiar Figures Test) developed by warli (2010) to know cognitive style and critical thinking test based on Ennis indicator (2011), then data about critical thinking of cognitive-style students Reflective and impulsive, was analyzed using nonparametric statistics through the Mann-Whitney test. The results in this study show the similarities between students who are reflective cognitive style with students who have cognitive impulsive style in students' critical thinking ability, because the result of the students in the same reflective style with impulsive students is because this subject is taken from the sample Class VII A where the class is the preferred class (superior). Thus it can be concluded that students' critical thinking ability with reflective cognitive style does not differ with cognitive impulsive students in Biology learning through SQ3R model (SURVAY, QUESTION, READ, RECITE, AND REVIEW) with pictorial card media

Abstract

Information literacy is one of literacy component in digital age. The puspose of this research was to know the ability of students information literacy in biology education students. This research was descriptive with 172 education biology students as the subject. Data were collected using questionnaires. Based on the result of data analysis students showed the tendency to formalate information necessity was 75,73%, finding and accessing information 66,13%, choosing and sorting information 77,68%, evaluating information as needed 69,87%, and following ethics related to access and using information source 83,86%. Thus it is necessary to improve the knowledge and skills of students in finding and accessing information to support the learning process and need to practice the ability to evaluate the information as needed
