Abstract

ASIH is a blend of essential oils of citronella and clove. Clove leaf essential oil containing eugenol and citronella essential oil containing Geranial and citronelal can be used as an insecticide plant. One of the pests that became the enemy of the onion farmers is Spodoptera exigua. These pests cause crop failures in the planting of onion. One way to overcome the pest Spodoptera exigua by applying insecticide plant. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of essential oil of clove leaf (Syzygium aromaticum) and essential oil of citronella (Andropogon nardus) on mortality pest Spodoptera exigua This type of study is experimental with completely randomized design (CRD), which consists of 16 treatments with 3 times repetitions. Sampel research is Spodoptera exigua tail number 480 is divided into 16 treatments, 0%. 10%. 20%. 30% concentration of citronella. While the concentration of clove 0%. 5%. 10%. 15%. Each treatment contains 10 tail Spodoptera exigua and performed 3 repetitions. Observations were made after 24 hours and counted the number of dead caterpillars. Data which obtained from analysis F-test gain the best treatment essential oil of citronella 30%:clove 15% mortality rate (death) in the pest Spodoptera exigua highest at 90%. Where as the control treatment (cloves 0%: citronella 0%) showed caterpillar mortality rate is very low.Keywords: Spodoptera exigua, clove leaf and citronella essential oil, insecticide plant.

Abstract

This study aims to improve learning outcomes by biological learning models play a role in the biology of learning in students of the Faculty of Biology Education Teaching and Education Bung Hatta University. This type of research is action research (PTK), using four stages: planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The experiment was conducted two cycles, each cycle consisting of two meetings and one-time test. Research subjects consisted of students who take courses Animal Taxonomy I semester 2013/2014 as many as 28 people. The research instrument is a matter of learning tests, observation sheets learning outcomes affective and psychomotor aspects. The results showed that the average value of learning outcomes in the cognitive aspects of the first cycle of 68.0 to 64.0% mastery learning, assessment of learning outcomes affective aspects average 73.2 and 72.9 psychomotor. In the second cycle increased cognitive learning outcomes an average of 78.1 with 79.6% completeness Study abroad. So is the affective aspect of learning outcomes increased to 77.6 and 78.6 psychomotor. The results of this study it can be concluded that the role-play learning model to improve learning outcomes of students in biology courses Animal Taxonomy I. It is suggested that teachers / lecturers are expected to use the model of learning to play a role in the material or different subjects. Keywords: models, learning, role playing and learning outcomes

Abstract

Abstract - Plants Binahong (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) is known as a medicinal plant by the community. Purpose of this study was to obtain endophytic bacteria producing antibacterial isolates from leaves binahong and continued with the characterization and identification of isolates. Antibacterial activity was determined using the paper disc assay method on the media NA is by using the supernatant of endophytic bacteria isolates tested on pathogenic bacteria Escherichia coli ATCC 35216 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29 523. Retrieved 9 bacterial isolates and 3 of them are isolates E5, E7, and E8 was selected as superior isolates were able to inhibit the growth of test bacteria . Results identification of isolates using the matching profile showed that isolates E5, E7, E8 respectively including members of the genus Staphylococcus, Pseudomonas, and Bacillus. Keywords: isolation, identification, endophytic bacteria, binahong (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.)

Abstract

Natural disasters because of the climate change have an impact on increasing vulnerability in the community. The location of the study in Gemblakan Atas Village located beside of the Code River, the location makes the condition of the population vulnerable to the danger of flooding and landslides. The purpose of this study was to determine the social vulnerability and adaptation to climate change. Social vulnerability was analyzed by comparing vulnerability on the sub-district scale using the Geographic Information System (GIS) with scoring and weighting methods. Whereas to find out the climate change adaptation in the method used in this study is a qualitative research method. Sources of data used are obtained from primary data, namely through interviews with resource persons. While secondary data comes from document data, archives, and other sources related to research. Social vulnerability represents a condition of the level of social fragility in the face of disasters. Vulnerable social conditions can cause large losses if a disaster occurs. In this study the indicators of social vulnerability used include population density, the dependency ratio of the elderly and toddlers to the productive age, sex ratio and disabled people. Based on the calculation results the highest social vulnerability index value occurred in 5 (five) sub-districts and 10 (ten) other districts with moderate vulnerability index values. So based on this analysis the Gemblakan Atas Village is located in Danurejan District which has the highest level of social vulnerability in Yogyakarta city (IKS Value 0.86). In the face of disasters due to the effects of climate change, several adaptation activities carried out by the people in Gemblakan Atas Village include planting the tree, water conservation, household waste management, and making environmental protection posters.

Abstract

ABSTRAK   Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan: keaktifan dan hasil belajar biologi siswa kelas VII E SMPN 1 Gondangrejo pada pokok materi Organisasi Kehidupan, Tahun Ajaran 2011/2012 dengan menerapkan strategi pembelajaran Lightening The Learning Climate (mengurangi suasana belajar formal). Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (Classroom Action Research) yang terdiri dari perencanaan tindakan, pelaksanaan tindakan, observasi, refleksi, dan evaluasi dengan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran aktif yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis data deskriptif kualitatif yaitu dengan cara menganalisis data perkembangan siswa dari siklus I sampai dengan siklus II melalui tiga tahapan yakni reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan keaktifan dan hasil belajar di setiap siklus. Rata-rata kelas hasil belajar aspek kognitif siklus I sebesar 74,06 dengan prosentase ketuntasan 62,5%, siklus II sebesar 81,56 dengan prosentase ketuntasan 93,75%. Rata-rata kelas hasil belajar aspek afektif siklus I sebesar 12,69 (termasuk katagori berminat), siklus II ranah afektif sebesar: 15,09 (termasuk kategori berminat). Sedangkan prosentase afektif siswa yang bekerjasama dalam kelompok pada siklus I mencapai 37,5%, pada siklus II meningkat sebesar 78,13%, keberanian siswa dalam menjawab pertanyaan dan mengemukakan pendapat pada siklus I mencapai 18,75%, pada siklus II sebesar 46,88%, perhatian siswa saat guru menjelaskan pada siklus I sebesar 34,38%, pada siklus II sebesar 90,63%, keaktifan dalam bekerja sistematis siklus I sebesar 78,13%, siklus II mengalami peningkatan menjadi 93,75%.  Berdasarkan dari penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan strategi Lightening The Learning Climate dapat meningkatkan keaktifan dan hasil belajar biologi materi organisasi kehidupan pada siswa kelas VII E SMPN 1 Gondangrejo Tahun Ajaran 2011/2012.   Kata Kunci: Strategi Lightening The Learning Climate, Keaktifan dan Hasil Belajar.

Abstract

The selection of proper learning design can determine the student’s achievement of High Order Thinking Skills(HOTS). The development of creative-productive learning design becomes one of the strategies to achieve students' HOTS skill. Students were facilitated and given the responsibility to be able to develop HOTS skills effectively. Students are taught to doing science-based learning activities in various ways such as observation, discussion, or experiment, and trained to be creative and productive in interpreting natural phenomenon. The purpose of this research was to develop the creative-productive learning design as a strategy to improve students' HOTS skills in biology learning. This research used Quasi-experimental design  with the population of XI grade student of Senior High School in Banyumas Regency. The students' HOTS skills that being developed include student skills in observing objects, analyzing, identifying, explaining, and communicating the results of their learning activities. The results of this research shows that creative-productive learning design can develop high-level thinking skills (HOTS) of students with varying degrees of achievement

Abstract

The aim of this research is to identify the effectivness of Local Isolate Bacteria from Boyolali (ILB) to decompose organic materials from wasted vegetable and slurry. The result of decomposition werecompared to EM4 for control. The laboratoryresult indicates that Local isolate bacteria from Boyolali were more effective than EM4 to increase N (Nitrogen) contant. The ability of Local isolate bacteria from Boyolali was better than EM4 in degrading organic materials of slurry, particularly, towardsP (Phosphate). The best concentrationof ILBdecomposition is 30 %. Liquid fertilizer produced from Slurrywithdecomposition ILB 30% that applied towards cabbage  increased the weight of cabbage fruit and the length of circumference by 0.5525 gram and 12.67 cm respectively. From the experimental results thatit can be concluded that ILB hasbetter capability in decomposing organic material than EM4. ILB has a good potentialas decomposter toproduces liquid organic fertilizer. Key word: Local isolate, decomposter, EM4, Slurry, cabbage

Abstract

The objective of this research as follow: 1) developing and validating Human Excretion System Module Based Constructivism With Problem Based Learning (PBL) by module expert, and tested personally, before the actual tested to the SMA Laboratorium  UM in the 11th grade; 2) knowing the effectiveness of Human Excretion System Module Based Constructivism With PBL development product that been tested in the actual condition to improve problem solving skill and student learning result of Biology in SMA Laboratorium UM at 11th grade. This research method is research and development with the steps that been adjusted with researcher needs as follow: 1) Define step; 2) Design step 3) Develop step.Location of research is in the senior high school laboratorium Malang;The research result shows that content validation, obtained the percentage average of module feasibility from lecturer of learning material expert lecturer of material expert biology, and teacher in the 11th grade of Natural Science-3 have feasibility. In the personal test, student module has feasibility. Based the actual test, it is obtained the percentage of Lesson Study implemented which increases from the before meeting. Date of PBL implemented has increased 6%. From problem solving skill date, psychomotor learning resultaffective learning result have increased 4% and 3%. Abstract

Abstract - Plants section slides are a method of making mikroteknik slides intended for objects that are big and bold on the plant, so that the tissue can be seen under a microscope. Observations on the tissue of plants section slides big red chili (Capsicum annuum L.) will be more easily if use a dye to staining the tissue. The aim of this staining is to clarify the various tissues of plants, so that it can be distinguished and being reviewed with a microscope. Exploration of exploiting alternative coloring matter of being cheaper and has a high affinity towards cell components is very important, so the use of extracts of rosella petals flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) as alternative natural dyes are expected to produce natural staining alternative to replace staining is usually used. The aims of this research to know the effect of granting the concentration extract of rosella petals flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) as a natural dye to the quality of plants section slides Capsicum annuum L. and to know and compare quality of the picture of the plants section slides Capsicum annuum L. results of extract of rosella petals flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) natural staining with results of safranin synthetic staining.The type of this research is experimental research. This research was conducted in the Laboratory of Biology of University of Muhammadiyah Malang which took place on March 11-March 15, 2014. This research used the concentration of extract of rosella petals flower is 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, and 100% with 3 times repeats. Data collected by direct observation and documentation directly from the camera by using a microscope. Data were analyzed with descriptive qualitative analyses and descriptive quantitative from observations results and documentation of the results directly from the microscope. The results showed there is the staining effect of various concentrations of the extract of rosella petals flower to the quality of plants section slides Capsicum annuum L. Quality of plants section slides Capsicum annuum L. results of natural staining from extract of rosella petals flower has a good quality picture of slides. Comparison of the quality of the plants section slides Capsicum annuum L. results of extract of rosella natural staining petals flower did not vary much with results safranin synthetic staining. Keywords: Extract, Hibiscus sabdariffa L., Natural staining, Section slides, Capsicum annuum L.

Abstract

This research is to know the effect of biology-based inquiry learning to the improveof students critical thinking skillsin State Senior High School 1 Sembalun on academic year 2017/2018.The research was done in State Senior High School 1 Sembalun and sample on research is class X of IPA toward 29 students. Instrument use in this reseach was essay test. Based on research result show gotten a score of pretest average value is 70.31 and a score of critical thinking skills posttest is 89.48, while average value of gain is 0,64 with a middle category. The research can be concluded that biology-based inquiry learning influence improve of students critical thinking skill in class X of IPA.
