Abstract

Education nowadays more emphasizes a nation character and value. Nation character and value is the accumulation of local character and value from indigenous in Indonesia. The local tradition has wisdom value. The apllication of nation character and value requires teachers to be wise in choosing the right learning resources to the character of the students with regard to the character and local area. Based on those research background, one of many ways developing student character is exploring local wisdom and implementing as a lesson source. This research aims to reveal local wisdom values from Anak Dalam tribe tradition in Jambi province conducted in group vice tumenggung Bajeloin the village of Bukit Suban, Sarolangun, Jambi toward the cultivation and then implemented as a learning resource biology. This research was conducted by in-depth interviews, participant observation, documentation studies, and field notes were analyzed by triangulation techniques, with data collection, data reduction, and data display. Activities undertaken in the agricultural fields was mancah (slashing), matiko ukor (lethal root), nobong (overthrow), ngengong totobongon (drying), bekor (burning), menugal (puncture), maintenance and weeding. Based on the identification of farming activities, it is founded that values of local wisdom relating to environmental protection, such as: the value of harmony, balance value, the value of environmental conservation, sustainable values, and the values of mutual cooperation. These values are implemented as a biological learning resource which derived from the  competences standard of analyze the utilization and conservation of the environment.Keywords: Local Wisdom Value, Suku Anak Dalam Jambi, Source Of Biology Learning

Abstract

The objectives of the research are (1) the disclose the relationship between metacognitive skill and biology concept understanding of Grade X student during the application of PBL and RT strategies and (2) to illustrate the different regression equation between metacognitive skill and biology concept understanding of Grade X students during the application of PBL and RT strategies. The population of this research is all of Grade X students at SMA Brawijaya Smart School Malang. The sample of research is X-3 class for application of PBL strategy and X-5 class for application of RT strategy. The application of learning strategies implemented for 10 weeks on the Monera, Protista, and Fungi material. Data collection was performed before and after each application of learning strategies. Metacognitive skill measured with special rubric of metacognitive that integrated with achievement test developed by Corebima (2009), while understanding the biological concept of learning outcomes measured by the rubric of biology. Result of research indicates that (1) there is positive relationship between metacognitive skill and biology concept understanding during the application of PBL and RT strategies in orderen manner 81,6% and 66,7% and (2) PBL and RT have same potential to improve metacognitive skill and also biology concept understanding and it form a line pattern which matches with regression equation and the line is closely parallel and coincide.Keywords: Problem-based Learning Strategy, Reciprocal Teaching strategy, metacognitive skill, biology concept understanding

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims at finding out the effect of the learning strategy Jigsaw IV toward the metacognition skill  and the effect of the academic ability toward the metacognition skill This study was quasi experimental design with factorial 4 x 2. The procedure of the experimental study was pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. This study included independent and dependent variables. Independent variables was learning strategy Jigsaw, lower and upper acadmic ability.. Dependent variables were the metacognition skill The metacognition skill was measured through rubric. Abstract

ABSTRAK   Penelitian survei yang menggunakan angket ini diberikan pada 27 guru Biologi di 12 SMP Negeri dan Swasta di Tondano Kabupaten Minahasa. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan respon guru biologi terhadap strategi yang mampu memberdayakan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar siswa. Berdasarkan jawaban responden, yang mengemukakan sangat penting melibatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam pembelajaran (11,11%), penting (51,85%), dan jawaban kurang penting (0%), serta sisanya (37,04%) tidak memberikan jawaban. Responden yang menjawab telah mengembangkan strategi berpikir kritis dalam pembelajaran (62,96%), yang belum (3,70%), sedangkan (33,33%) tidak menjawab. Dalam pemberdayaan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa, responden menjawab: sangat penting ( 14,81%), penting (48,15%), dan kurang penting (0%), serta tidak dijawab (37,04%). Lebih lanjut, yang menjawab benar bagaimana langkah-langkah memberdayakan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa 48,15%, sedangkan sisanya (51,85%) tidak menjawab. Hal ini mengindikasikan sangat perlu lebih dikembangkan suatu strategi yang mampu memberdayakan kemampuan berpikir kritis, meskipun terdapat (59,26%) responden menjawab adanya kendala dalam memberdayakannya. Hal ini terkait pula dengan penilaian hasil belajar terkait cakupan tiap domain kognitif, afektif dan psikomotorik, di mana (7,41%) responden menjawab benar cakupan tiap domain, dan (44,44%) menjawab tidak benar, sedangkan (48,15%) tidak menjawab.   Kata Kunci : Berpikir Kritis, Hasil Belajar.

Abstract

ABSTRAKTujuan dari penelitian ini adalah Meningkatkan keaktifan diskusi siswa dalam pembelajaran biologi melalui penerapan prinsip Attention, Relevance, Confidence and Satisfaction ARCS di kelas RSBI sebagai sebuah bentuk inovasi pembelajaran.Penelitian merupakan Classroom Action Research dilakukan di dua lokasi dengan dua inovasi pembelajran berbeda tetapi masing-masing menerapkan prinsip ARCS dalam komponen-komponennya.  Kedua lokasi yaitu 1)kelas RSBI SMA Negeri 1 Surakarata melalui penerapan prinsip ARCS dalam pembelajaran aktif tipe cardsort dan 2)kelas RSBI SMA MTA Surakarta dengan penerapan ARCS disertai LKS.  Penelitian dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus.  Data berupa hasil observasi, wawancara, angket keaktifan diskusi siswa dan angket performance guru.  Data dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik triangulasi.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan prinsip ARCS di kelas RSBI dpat meningkatkan keaktifan diskusi siswa. Besar peningkatan rata-rata 3.19% dari siklus I 73.12% ke siklus II  76.41%. Kata kunci : ARCS, keaktifan diskusi, RSBI

Abstract

Teak clonal trial was established at Watusipat, Gunungkidul to obtain best clonal for fast growth in order to increase productivity of privatelly owned forest of teak (Tectona grandis). Tirdty one (31) clonal teak from Thailand and teak forest in Java Island and Muna, Sulawesi Tenggara were tested in this trial. Randomized Complete Block Design, consisting of 5 replications, and 5 tree (clone) per plot were designed in this plot. Data of the teak clonal trial were collected for growth (height and diameter at breast height) in 2 and 4 years old. In view of the variation between clones and genetic variation of growth, the analysis of variance (ANOVA) and genetic parameters were conducted. The results showed that significant differences were found between clones in the trial for height and diameter in 2 or 4 years old. The average of height were 5.10 m in 2 years old and 8.88 m in 4 years old, the average of diameter were 5.86 cm in 2 years old and 9.21 cm in 4 years old. Clonal repeatabilties were low in the trial (H2C=0.07 for height and H2C=0.08 for diameter in 2 years old; H2C=0.13 for height and H2C=0.12 for diameter in 4 years old). Base on these results, it can be conclued that the breeding program of teak can improve the mean annual increment (MAI) while using clonal selection. Therefore, the main goal for increasing productivity of teak privatelly owned forest, will be achieved.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the understanding of senior high school biology teacher of Surakarta against the nature of biology as science. The value of understanding of the nature of biology as science was taken form the test. This study was conducted in April 2014. The sample used was 36 biology teachers that is incorated in MGMP Biologi SMA Surakarta. The results showed that average of the understanding is 2,32 that is classified in C with the standard deviation of 0.42. Overall value of understanding distributed into A as much as 0 (0%), A- as much as 0 (0%), B+ as much as 1 (2.78%), B as much as 1 (2.78%), B- as much as 18 (50%), C+ as much as 10 (27,78%), C  as much as 4 (11.11%), C-as much as 0 (0%), D as much as 1 (2.78%), and D as much as 1 (2.78%). Keywords: biology teacher, the nature of biology as science

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the effect of module based on local potential in ecosystem on the understanding of concept and attitude of care for environment of the X graders. This research was a quasi-experimental with design used was Nonequivalent Control-Group Design from February until May 2016. The population of research was all X gradesrs of SMA Negeri 1 Tanjungsari in the school year of 2015/2016. X-A and X-B class were selected as the sample. Data was obtained from questionairre for attitude of care environment and understanding of concepts test.. Data was analyzed with anacova-test with level of significance 0,05. The result of the research shows that (1) obtained Fa= 43,728 > F0 =4,00. (2) obtined Fb= 15,699 > F0 =4,00. Thus H0 was not supported, and H1 was supported, it means that there was a significant difference of the effect between the use of module based on local potential in ecosystem topic in experiment class and application of conventional learning model with varying lecture in control group on understanding of concepts and the students attitude of care for environment.Keywords:        module based on local potential, understanding of concepts, attitude of care for environment

Abstract

Abstract - Sweet corn - sweet corn ( Zea mays L. ) is one of the world's most important horticultural crops in addition to wheat and rice . Another a source of carbohydrates, corn is also the seasonal crops (annual) . Sweet corn provides a rich source of folic acid; health benefits for pregnant women and fetuses; can prevent underweight newborns , reducing the risk of birth defects , and it is important for fetal brain growth. One of the new breakthroughs to develop products which process them into sweet corn milk that has not been widely circulated in the community . This is because the price of corn in the market are cheap and I get it so easy. The purpose of this program is implemented (1) determine the potential of sweet corn as materials for milk containing folic acid; (2) review the analysis of the quality of sweet corn milk products; and (3) determine the potential of sweet corn milk to meet folic acid during pregnancy. Abstract

Human being and environment are depending on each other. The carrying capacity of the environment requires human being to care for and preserve the environment for the sake of sustainability. . Effort and love for environment have to be taught to children since childhood at school in a form of environmental education. What is meant by environment here is the dominant environment at South Kalimantan; and that is wetland, such as river. There has to be an effort to introduce wetland to students in a form of learning model in order to grow their caring and loving attitudes for the environment. This research is aimed to know how the environmental based learning by introducing wetland at Islamic elementary schools in Banjarmasin have been going recently (teachers’ understanding, design, process, and learning evaluation), and how are the learning model which is based on environmental education on wetland can be developed and implemented at Islamic elementary schools in Banjarmasin. This research is a developmental research with Research and Development (R&D) approach through preliminary research, small scale testing model development, and wide scale testing model validation. The research is conducted at MI Darun Nasihin, MI Sulamut Taufiq, and MI Nurul Islam. The data is collected through documentation, questionnaires, interview, and observation. The data is analyzed descriptive-qualitatively through data reduction, data display, and verification. After wide scale testing on the model which was developed and tried out using learning instrument adapted with the materials about ecosystem balance, the materials were then taught to the six graders of Islamic elementary school through the following implementation steps: orientation, relating, exploration, finding problems, group investigation, work result discussion, clarification, and resolution. The model is proved to be able to be developed at Islamic elementary schools in Banjarmasin, viewed from the students learning evaluation with the percentage in very good category. Students behavior also shows positive influence which means the learning has been able to stimulate students’ positive behaviors such as caring, being open-minded, being appreciative to what people are saying, and being responsible. The model development is also supported by good response from students and teachers towards students’ workbook and teaching learning process.
