Abstract

Herbal Plants (Toga) are plants which have been used as herbal medicine. These plants have the ability to synthesize a wide variety of chemical compounds that are used to perform important biological functions, and to defend against attack from predators such as insects, fungi and herbivorous mammals. Therefore, they have beneficial effects on long-term health when consumed by humans, and can be used to effectively treat human diseases. Even though, herbal can be used to treat human diseases, many people prefer to consume drug that may have bad effect for a long time consuming.  In order to introduce the beneficial of herbal plant and realize many people to use herbal plants that can be found in the garden, TOCAP is very crucial to be done at early age. In doing so, the writers introduce TOCAP for elementary school students. TOCAP is training and educative teaching consider with utilization of herbal plants which covers creating media plant, making a fertilizer, technical how to plant herbal plant, the advantages of herbal plant , and  how to make herbal medicine. The steps of TOCAP include preparation, the introduction about TOCAP, training, guiding, monitoring, and evaluation. Furthermore, this research gives beneficial experience for the student to learn about how to utilize herbal plant that they found around them to increase healthy life style. Keywords: TOCAP, educative teaching, healthy life

Abstract

Abstract- Mouth is considered as a not homogeneous environment. These following aspects may caused a significant contribution towards the cause of infection namely; the mucosal surfaces in the mouth and teeth are not the same, has warm temperatures, moisture and nutrient-rich environment which increasing the growth of microorganisms. Staphylococcus aureus can trigger the occurrence of infectious diseases, which is acute apical abscess. Nano chitosan is a physical modification of chitosan which posses antibacterial capability. The purpose of this study to test the effectiveness of antibacterial nano chitosan in different degree of deacetylation and concentrations against Staphylococcus aureus. This experimental study was conducted with disc’s method and using some concentration of 90%, 45%, 22,5%, 11,25%, 5,625%, 2,812%, 1,406%, 0,703%, 0,351%, 0,175% and 2 control groups, namely positive and negative controls. The statistical analysis using Chi - Square manually. The test results of antibacterial activity against S. aureus is the Minimum Inhibitory concentration (MIC) of nano chitosan DD 89% and 93% at a concentration of 22.55%. Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) nano chitosan DD 89% is at a concentration of 45% , while the nano chitosan DD 93% at a concentration of 22.5% . The results of statistical tests showed there are differences of MIC and MBC at different concentrations but there is no difference on different the degree of deacetylation test. Keywords: Antibacterial, Nano chitosan, S.aureus, MIC, MBC

Abstract

This research aims to increase scientific literacy and decrease student’s misconception at grade X MIA 6 of SMAN 1 Karanganom by applying e-module based on the concept of Problem-Based Learning (PBL). The type of the research was a classroom action research which consisted of two cycles. Each cycles applied: planning the learning activity, implementing the plan, observing the students’ activity and finally complimenting the whole activities in one cycle. The research subject was graders X MIA 6 of SMAN 1 Karanganom, which were 11 boys and 23 girls. The data validation used triangulation method. The data of the research were obtained by formulating the test, observation and interview. The obtained data  were analyzed using the descriptive technique. The results of the research showed the implementation of e-module based on the concept of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) decrease the students’ misconception on the ecology subject with the explanation: the population concept decreased 21%, the comunity concept run into reduction 22%, the ecosystem concept  went down 21% and the ecology concept in ‘Science, environment, technology, and society’ context reduced 26%. The analysed result also indicated that the scientific literacy has increased 20.6%. The result of the research evidenced the implementation of e-module based on the concept of Problem-Based Learning could increase the scientific literation and decrease the students’ misconception on the ecology subject.Keywords: E-module with based Problem-Based Learning, misconception, scientific literacy

Abstract

ABSTRAK   Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memeroleh informasi mendalam tentang strategi pemecahan masalah yang dilakukan guru maupun siswa pada pembelajaran biologi berbasis masalah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan penelitian tindakan partisipatif berupa penelitian tindakan kelas.  Partisipan kunci pada penelitian ini adalah empat guru biologi dan siswa pada empat kelas di SMAN 5 Kota Bengkulu. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, angket, wawancara, studi dokumentasi, dan rekaman visual. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi pemecahan masalah oleh guru pada pembelajaran biologi berbasis masalah di SMAN 5 Kota Bengkulu adalah memberikan penjelasan atau saran umum, mendorong interaksi antarsiswa, dan memantau kegiatan siswa. Salah satu guru menggunakan strategi pemotivasian siswa dan mengelaborasi proses berpikir siswa. Strategi pemecahan masalah oleh siswa umumnya yaitu bekerjasama dan menggunakan internet sebagai sumber belajar. Strategi pemecahan masalah oleh guru dan siswa pada penerapan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah di siklus pertama dan di siklus kedua serupa.   Kata kunci:      Pembelajaran berbasis masalah, strategi pemecahan masalah, guru, siswa, biologi SMA

Abstract

Budidaya tanaman kentang hitam  (Coleus tuberosum) belum dilakukan secara serius oleh masyarakat. Padahal tanaman ini memiliki potensi yang sangat baik sebaik sumber pangan alternatif.  Penelitian telah dilakukan untuk mengetahui kemampuan pembentukan perakaran stek pucuk 9 kultivar kentang hitam hasil koleksi dari beberapa wilayah  di Pulau Jawa dan Nusa tenggara Barat.  Bahan tanam berupa stek pucuk sepanjang 10 cm dengan menyertakan 6 daun yang diambil dari tanaman induk berumur 3 bulan.  Bahan stek setiap kultivar diletakkan dalam media tanam berupa pasir pada ember plastik masing-masing sebanyak 20 stek.  Pengamatan pembentukan akar dilakukan secara distruktif dengan cara mencabut stek. Pengamatan terhadap  komponen saat pembentukan akar dilakukan setiap hari, sedangkan panjang akar, jumlah akar, berat basah dan berat kering tunas dilakukan terhadap 3 stek sampel setelah stek berumur 14 hari.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kultivar asal K8 dan K9 memiliki kemampuan pembentukan akar yang lebih cepat dibanding kultivar yang lain, yaitu berturut-turut 5 hari dan 6 hari.  Kultivar K8 dan K9 juga menghasilkan jumlah akar, panjang akar, berat basah dan berat kering terbaik.   Berdasarkan hal ini maka kultivar K8 dan K9 memiliki kemampuan pembentukan perakaran terbaik.  Kata kunci : Kentang Hitam, Stek Pucuk, Kultivar

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran mikrobiologi berbasis kontekstual dalam upaya meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi pada mahasiswa pendidikan biologi Universitas Negeri Medan. Tahapan penelitian tahun pertama melakukan analisis kebutuhan tugas-tugas mahasiswa sejalan dengan implementasi Kerangka Kualifikasi Nasional Indonesia (KKNI). Penelitian dilaksanakan pada tahun 2016. Subyek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa pendidikan biologi berjumlah 80 orang yang diambil secara acak proporsional. Penelitian pengembangan ini berorientasi pada pengembangan produk. Produk yang dihasilkan berupa silabus, kontrak perkuliahan, rencana pelaksanaan perkuliahan, penuntun praktikum, alat evaluasi dan asesmen autentik yang mengarah kepada kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi melalui expert review dari ahli mikrobiologi, ahli disain, ahli teknologi pembelajaran, serta ahli evaluasi dan asesmen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rancangan tugas mahasiswa yang mengarah kepada kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi sesuai standar KKNI pada matakuliah mikrobiologi berbasis kontekstual terdiri dari enam bentuk tugas, yaitu: tugas rutin mahasiswa, analisis kritis buku teks, reviu jurnal, rekayasa ide, riset sederhana, dan tugas proyek.Key Word         : Kontekstual, Berpikir Tingkat Tinggi, Perangkat Tugas Perkuliahan

Abstract

The aim of this article was to determine in appropriate information son the plant movement material found in textbooks IPA SMP/MT seighth grade, the extent of its congruence and provide improvement on the necessary repairs. Analysis of the material was done by examining 5 textbooks easily found in bookstores, especially on the plant movement subject. Further information in the book is confirmed by the latest issue of biology textbooks that are often used as a source of reference material.The analysis showed that on 3 existing textbooks there is some not appropriate information with the concept in biology textbooks, especially about tacticmovement.Examples are given in the textbook IPA SMP / MTs eighth grade is not appropriate with the coverage of meaning plant because the sample of organisms that perform tacticmovement included in protists and if it refers to six-kingdom classification system can not be categorized as plant. Keywords :text book, plant movement, tactic movement

Abstract

The research on Odonata diversity was conducted in Antapani, Cigadung, Dago Pakar and Dago Pojok paddy fields located in Bandung. The objectives of the study were to identify Odonata species, to analyse the population dynamics and abundance of Odonata. Adults of Odonata were taken by sweeping net (depth 60 cm, Ø 30-38 cm), and nymphs were caught by sieve of the size of Ø 30 cm. The samples were done taken paddy growth. Adults. Two (2) families of adult Odonata were identified and consist of 4 species, i.eOrthetrum sabina (Libellulidae), Crocothemis servilia (Libellulidae), Neurothemis terminata (Libellulidae) and Anaciaeshna jaspidea (Aeshnidae). Three (3) species of nymphs Odonata were identified, i.e: Orthetrum sabina (Libellulidae), Crocothemis servilia (Libellulidae), and Anaciaeshna jaspidea (Aeshnidae). The result of this research showedthat Crocothemis servilia (Libellulidae) and Orthetrum sabina (Libellulidae) were dominant species in four research location. In the early  paddy growth (vegetatif phase to pregnant phase ~ 22 - 27 day) showed the highest number of Odonata (adult and nymph) compared with the other phase, by the time there will be a decrease in the population of Odonata. The sex ratio on adult Odonata show that male Odonata is more biggestthan Odonata female. The highest lenght of odonata nympha at vegetative and  primodial phase at the first stage of paddy growth and the lowest lenght at bunting, masak susu and masak penuh phase. Keywords : Odonata, Sex Rasio, Body Lenght (Instar)

Abstract

This research aimed at developing learning tool for Biology subject by using problem solving method to students’ learning outcomes and critical thinking skills on the material Human Digestive System, based on the feasibility of the study, the feasibility of teaching and learning activities, the learning outcome and critical thinking skills of students. This was a research and development study (R & D) with ASSURE development model. The series of this learning tool development were: (1) the establishment of model development, (2) the development of procedure, (3) product testing, and (4) field testing. The small group sample was students of XI IPA 2 and for field testing was students of XI IPA 1 SMAN 1 Sungai Loban Year 2014/2015. The type of data required in the research and development were data from the feasibility of the study, the feasibility of lesson plans, the implementation of lesson plans, learning outcomes, critical thinking skills, and students’ response. The data validation analysis of learning tool, the implementation of lesson plans and students’ activities were quantitatively measured by using category 1 (not enough/incomplete), 2 (adequate/enough), 3 (good), 4 (very good). The validation results of learning tool development showed that the device got 3 score in good category and adequate for use. The implementation of learningtocritical thinkingskillcan improve theability to createquestions, formulate hypotheses,and draw conclusionswith an averageof 1.00N-Gain, andthe abilityto analyzedatawith an averageN-Gain 0.67.The students wereable to completeallthe learningindicatorswithindividualandclassicalcompleteness by96.7% in the posttest. Based on the analysis of data, it can be concluded that learning Biology with problem solving method which had been implemented is effective to achieve learning mastery and critical thinking skill ability of the learners.Keywords:Problem Solving, Learning Outcome and Critical Thinking

Abstract

Telah  dilakukan penelitian mengenai penerapan pembelajaran konstruktivisme  dengan strategi penugasan dan latihan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar pada matakuliah biokimia. Penelitian ini bertujuan 1) untuk mengetahui hasil belajar mahasiswa angkatan 2012 pada mata kuliah biokimia setelah diterapkan pembelajaran konstruktivisme dengan strategi penugasan dan latihan, 2) mengetahui respon mahasiswa terhadap strategi pembelajaran yang diterapkan, dan 3) mencari dan memperbaiki metode mengajar sehingga diperoleh metode mengajar yang tepat, yang dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar pada mata kuliah Biokimia. Penelitian dilakukan selama satu semester di Universitas PGRI Ronggolawe Tuban, pada semester gasal Tahun Ajaran 2012/2013.Rancangan penelitian adalah pre eksperimen, objek penelitian adalah mahasiswa angkatan 2012 yang mengambil matakuliah biokimia, sebanyak 34 mahasiswa. Instrumen penelitian berupa: 1) tes, diberikan kepada mahasiswa untuk memperoleh data mengenai hasil belajar; 2) angket, diberikan kepada mahasiswa untuk mengetahui respon mahasiswa terhadap pembelajaran dengan strategi penugasan dan latihan. Hasil belajar mahasiswa ditentukan dengan menghitung nilai yang diperoleh mahasiswa.Secara individual, mahasiswa dianggap telah berhasil dalam belajar apabila telah mencapai nilai minimal B. Selain itu juga dihitung keberhasilan belajar klasikal.Analisis data mengenai respon mahasiswa terhadap strategi pembelajaran dilakukan  secara deskriptif kuantitatif dengan menghitung persentase jawaban mahasiswa terhadap aspek-aspek respon siswa yang ditanyakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jumlah mahasiswa yang memperoleh nilai A: 8,82%, nilai B: 76,47, dan nilai C: 14,70, sehingga  diperoleh keberhasilan klasikal sebesar 85,29%. Penerapan strategi pembelajaran penugasan dan latihan ini, mendapat respon positif dari mahasiswa yang ditandai dengan 77,42% mahasiswa merasa senang dengan strategi pembelajaran yang diterapkan.   Kata kunci: Biokmia, Hasil Belajar, Pembelajaran Konstruktivisme, Penugasan dan Latihan, Respon Mahasiswa
