Abstract

Mpox (formerly monkey pox) is an emerging zoonotic disease caused by infection with the Mpox virus, which affects both humans and animals. The disease is usually self-limiting, but severe illness can occur in certain groups especially children, and people who are immunocompromised or pregnant. In recent years, rapid globalization, population movement and deepening trade networks have contributed to the international spread of Mpox, resulting in outbreaks in various countries around the world. Based on information from previous outbreaks, children may be more susceptible to severe manifestations of the disease, leading to sepsis, encephalitis, and even death or long-term disability. In addition, the reports recommends that babies born to mothers who had Mpox virus while pregnant should be properly monitored in specialized care facilities. This overview presents a thorough review of Mpox, including its transmission patterns, epidemiology and pathogenesis. This review aims to provide updated information about Mpox virus for designing better treatment.

Abstract

Introduction: The high prevalence of maternal and infant mortality is still a problem that cannot be overcome. One effort to reduce maternal mortality and infant mortality is to carry out regular antenatal checks. Objective: This study aims to determine what perception factors influence compliance with Antenatal Care. Method: This type of research is quantitative correlative with a cross-sectional approach. Results and Discussion: The results of this study were that most respondents were in the non-compliant category in antenatal check-ups, 52.7%. The results of the correlation test show the P Value of perceived benefits with 0.001, perceived barriers 0.022, perceived susceptibility 0.016 and Cues to Action action cues 0.007. results of logistic regression analysis, the most dominant variable is perceived benefits with an odds ratio of 8.272. This non-compliance is caused by several factors that cause pregnant women not to receive antenatal care. Conclusion: In this study, the obstacles experienced by pregnant women include lack of knowledge about complications, access to transportation and economics as the main factors causing noncompliance with antenatal care. There is a significant relationship between the variables of perceived benefits, perceived barriers, perceived vulnerabilities, and action cues

Abstract

Introduction: The prevalence of smoking in Timor-Leste, based on data from the Ministry of Health's 2016 survey, highlights that 53.7% of adults aged 15 to 49 were active smokers. Although this shows a reduction from 70% in 2009, cigarette consumption remains significant. For pregnant women who smoke, there are severe consequences for fetal health, including reduced fetal weight, premature birth, and increased risks of miscarriage, fetal mortality, and sudden infant death. Additionally, smoking during pregnancy can negatively affect the physical and intellectual development of children as they grow. Objective: Want to know the relationship between the knowledge of pregnant women and the impact of smoking on pregnancy at the Comoro Health Center, Post administrative Dom Aleixo, Dili Municipality, Timor-Leste. Method: The method for this research is quantitative with the type of research of analytical observation with cross-sectional approach with non-probability sampling technique with accidental sampling method. Result and Discussion: The result of the study is the relationship between the knowledge of pregnant women and the impact of smoking on pregnancy (p-value: 0,001). Conclusion: The results of the study indicate that there is a relationship between the knowledge of pregnant women and the impact of smoking on pregnancy.

Abstract

Septic arthritis occurs when microbial agents infect a joint space, with the knee being one of the most affected areas. Failure to promptly diagnose or treat the condition can lead to permanent joint damage. In this report, we present the case of an eight-year-old boy who was hospitalized due to acute swelling in his right knee. This case highlights that relying solely on susceptibility testing to guide antibiotic therapy may not be sufficient in managing such conditions
