Abstract

Objective: MDR-TB is a life-threatening infectious disease. In recent years, RR/MDR TB sufferers have increased by 10% from 186,883 patients in 2018 to 206,030 in 2019. The success rate of treatment for RR/MDR-TB patients only reaches 57% globally. WHO has recommended bedaquiline for treatment of MDR-TB as the first drug in an all-oral regimen designed to maximize treatment outcomes. Purpose: to describe the efficacy and safety of a bedaquiline-containing regimen for the treatment of MDR-TB. Methods: Pubmed, Science Direct, and Embase online databases were used to obtain data published in the last five years where literature searches were carried out independently by researchers. The keywords used in this search are combined with the Boolean operator "AND", namely (bedaquiline) AND (multidrug resistant) AND (effectiveness). Results: Eight studies met the inclusion criteria, demonstrating a higher conversion rate of sputum cultures on the bedaquiline containing regimen between 74%-95.8% with a mean time to culture conversion between 39 days-3 months. The majority of studies reported an adverse effect of QT prolongation in patients treated with bedaquiline. Conclusion: This systematic review showed that bedaquiline is effective and safe for use in the treatment of MDR-TB. However, serious side effects of QT prolongation occurred in some respondents who were treated with bedaquiline, so an effective and efficient monitoring and surveillance system is needed to ensure best practice in the treatment of MDR-TB.

Abstract

Glass ionomer cement is a restorative material that is adhesive, tooth-colored, and has the ability to release fluoride ions which are affected by the degree of acidity (pH). Apart from that, one way to utilize the waste from green mussels is by processing them into chitin and chitosan as materials to strengthen the properties of glass ionomer cement. Glass ionomer cement contains materials such as powderacid soluable calcium fluoraluminosilicate glass and liquidaqueous solution of polyacrylic acid. This can be an alternative as a treatment for dental caries. Objective: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the addition of green mussel shell (perna viridis) nanochitosan on the compressive strength of glass ionomer cement. Method: This study used a quantitative experimental laboratory study with a True Experimental study design using a post test only control group design. the total sample used was 25 samples. Results: The 2% nanochitosan concentration has the highest compressive strength value compared to other concentrations, as evidenced by the mean value at 2% concentration, which is 4.10 MPa. Conclusion: The result of 2% green mussel (perna viridis) nanochitosan was the most effective treatment in influencing the compressive strength of glass ionomer cement. The greater the concentration used, the higher the compressive strength of the resulting glass ionomer cement.

Abstract

There are still numerous problems in Indonesia, including prolonged labor that can murder mothers and infants. The rebozo technique is a physiological endeavor to prevent prolonged labor that can accelerate or shorten the active phase of labor. In 2023, the objective is to ascertain the impact of the rebozo technique on the duration of active phase I labor in the Noemuti Health Center Region.Research technique The research design is a Quasi-Experiment employing a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design with a control. 30 respondents in the population, 15 in the experimental group and 15 in the control group as the cohort. The investigation lasted one month, from April 2022 to May 2023. The rebozo technique intervention group had a rank value of 3.8 and a standard deviation of 2.0, and the p value was greater than 0.005, so it can be concluded that there was a significant difference between the intervention group and the control group. With a p value of 0.003 0.005, mothers who were intervened by the rebozo technique were able to reduce labor time to 6 hours and reduce pain. The conclusion The rebozo technique should be communicated to mothers and families at term gestation regarding the intervention of the rebozo technique if done regularly, it is hoped that when the mother enters the inpartu period, it can accelerate the opening of the cervix and the decrease in the fetal head in laboring mothers during the active phase I, thereby shortening the duration of labor.

Abstract

The Body Mass Index (BMI) is a widely-used indicator to assess nutritional status in adults. An increase in BMI escalates the risk of diseases related to obesity. There has been a global rise in obesity, and numerous studies on the correlation between BMI and lumbar flexibility show significant relationships. Given the importance of lumbar flexibility in daily activities, this research explores the link between BMI and lumbar flexibility among obese students aged 18-21 at HKBP Nommensen University. An observational analytical study with a cross-sectional design was conducted on students from the Faculty of Medicine, spanning the batches from 2015 to 2018, excluding athletes and those with vertebral deformities or a history of chronic illness. Out of 50 male obese respondents at HKBP Nommensen University, Medan, the average lumbar flexibility was found to be 23.49 cm. A weak positive correlation was identified between BMI and lumbar flexibility with a Spearman correlation coefficient of 0.324. The results indicate that as BMI increases, lumbar flexibility also increases, although with a weak correlation strength. This contrasts with some previous studies, highlighting the unique nature of the sample population and the need for more comprehensive future research. For subsequent researchers, considering a larger sample size, different methodologies, or other factors influencing flexibility would be beneficial. although with a weak correlation strength. Abstract

CT Scan is an excellent technique in assessing anatomical structures, anatomical abnormalities, and visualising the presence or absence of pathological tissue in the four sinuses and their extensions. One of the important parameters on CT Scan is slice thickness. Slice thickness is a thickness of the slice that can be adjusted according to clinical requirements with a variation of values from 1 to 10 mm. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of slice thickness variation on anatomical information of CT Scan paranasal sinus coronal section in rhinosinusitis and slice thickness variation that produces the most optimal anatomical information. This study is an analytical quantitative study with an experimental approach conducted on 10 samples who performed CT scan examination of paranasal sinus in rhinosinusitis using slice thickness variations of 0.6 mm, 1 mm, 1.5 mm and 2 mm. Based on the results of Friedman test and Wilcoxon Post Hoc test, the p value is 0.0001 (p<0.05) which means there is an effect of using slice thickness variation on anatomical information. The mean rank value in the Friedman test for slice thickness variations of 0.6 mm is 3.70, 1 mm is 3.13, 1.5 mm is 1.85, and 2 mm is 1.32 so based on the test results, slice thickness variation that shows the most optimal anatomical information is 0.6 mm.
