This study aims to analyze the influence of competence and emotional intelligence on employee performance with work motivation as an intervening variable at the Medan Belawan District Office. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method by distributing 51 questionnaires to employees as respondents. The research sample was determined using a purposive sampling technique so that the data obtained is relevant to the research objectives. The collected data were analyzed using path analysis techniques to determine the direct and indirect effects between variables. The results of the study indicate that competence has a positive and significant effect on employee work motivation as well as on employee performance. Emotional intelligence has a positive and significant effect on work motivation, but on employee performance through work motivation it has a positive but insignificant effect. Work motivation also has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. In addition, competence and emotional intelligence are proven to have a significant direct effect on employee performance. Thus, work motivation acts as an intervening variable that mediates the effect of competence on employee performance but not with the emotional intelligence variable because the results have a positive but insignificant effect. The findings of this study are expected to be input for leaders in improving employee performance through increasing competence, developing emotional intelligence, and strengthening work motivation.

Internal communication has a positive and significant effect on work motivation as well as its effect on work productivity. The work system has a positive and significant effect on work motivation but has a positive but not significant effect on work productivity. Work motivation also has a positive and significant effect on employee work productivity. In addition, internal communication and work systems have been shown to have a significant direct effect on work productivity. Thus, motivation acts as an intervening variable that mediates the effect of internal communication and work systems on work productivity. The findings of this study are expected to be input for management in increasing work productivity through improving internal communication, developing effective work systems, and increasing employee work motivation.

Power outages in residential environments such as boarding houses often disrupt safety and comfort due to the lack of adequate emergency lighting systems. This study aims to develop a Smart Emergency Lamp Home prototype using the Internet of Things (IoT) with a NodeMCU ESP32 microcontroller. The system is designed to automatically activate emergency lighting during power failures and enable real-time monitoring and control via a web-based interface. The research follows an engineering method involving system design, hardware-software integration, and prototype testing. The hardware includes power sensors (INA219 and PZEM-004T), a 12V battery, inverter, relay module, and TFT display, while the software uses Node.js and a PostgreSQL database for web monitoring. Testing results demonstrate the system's high responsiveness, accurate sensor data transmission, efficient power usage (with power factors above 0.94), and stable operation during simulated blackouts. The notification system also worked effectively, providing timely alerts regarding lamp status and battery conditions. This prototype offers a practical, scalable, and low-cost solution for emergency lighting in residential settings and can be further developed with features like solar charging and mobile-based monitoring.

Improving the quality of education at the junior high school level is highly dependent on teacher performance as the main actors in the learning process. This study aims to analyze the effect of academic supervision and independent training on teacher performance, with compensation as an intervening variable at SMP Negeri 1 Pintu Rime Gayo, Bener Meriah Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach with Partial Least Squares (PLS) analysis. The population in this study were all 64 teachers, with a saturated sampling technique. The results show that academic supervision and independent training have a positive and significant effect on compensation. In addition, independent training and compensation also have a positive and significant effect on teacher performance. Although the direct effect of academic supervision on teacher performance is not significant, there is a significant indirect effect through compensation. Thus, compensation acts as an intervening variable that strengthens the relationship between academic supervision and independent training on teacher performance. This study recommends that schools improve the quality of academic supervision, encourage independent teacher training, and provide fair compensation to support continuous improvement in teacher performance
