Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of feeding containing fermented chicken feather flour on feed efficiency and growth of striped catfish fry. The test fish used weighted 2.85 ± 0.33 g. The containers used for observing fish growth were 15 units of floating net cages made of gauze measuring 1x1x1 m with a stocking density of 25 ind/m3 and 5 units of aquariums measuring 60x35x40 cm as containers for observing the digestibility of feed with a stocking density of 25 ind/m3. This research method used a one-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatment levels and three replications. The treatments in this study were P0 (feed without fermented feather meal), P1 (feed containing 7.5% fermented feather meal), P2 (feed containing 15% fermented feather meal), P3 (feed containing 22.5% flour fermented chicken feathers), and P4 (feed containing 30% fermented chicken feather flour). The test feed protein was about 40%. The amount of feed given is 5% of the body weight of the fish with a frequency of 3 times a day, namely morning, afternoon, and evening. Fish rearing was carried out for 56 days. Measure the digestibility of feed by giving feed containing an indicator of 0.5% chromium oxide (Cr2O3). Feed is offered three times a day, namely morning, afternoon, and evening, as much as 5% of the body weight of the fish. The feces excreted by the fish are then collected and dried. The collected feces were analyzed for protein content and Cr2O3 to obtain feed and protein digestibility data. The results of this study indicated that the best treatment was P3 (feed containing 22.5% fermented chicken feather meal), resulting in feed digestibility of 55.36%, protein digestibility of 85.39%, feed efficiency of 83.59%, protein retention of 36.33%, specific growth rate of 3.38%, and survival of 92.00%.

Abstract

North African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) is a food ingredient with high protein content, so it is needed as a source of nutrition. In intensive catfish farming activities, there are constraints on water quality. The high stocking density causes a high value of ammonia. In addition, Nitrobacter, in an intensive aquaculture system, is expected to improve water quality. Especially ammonia, so that it can increase the growth and survival of fish. This study aims to determine the effect of Nitrobacter with different doses on the maintenance of North African catfish. This research was conducted from September to October 2022 at the Aquaculture Environmental Quality Laboratory, Department of Aquaculture, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Universitas Riau, Pekanbaru. The research method used in this study was a completely randomized design (CRD) 1 factor with five treatment levels and three replications. The treatment in this research is P0: Dosage Nitrobacter 0 mL/L, P1: Dosage Nitrobacter 0.5 mL/L, P2: 1 mL/L, P3: 1.5 mL/L, and P4: 2 mL/L. Giving Nitrobacter is done once a week according to the dose of each treatment. This research was conducted for 30 days. The research results show that dosing Nitrobacter has different effects on reducing ammonia levels and maintaining North African catfish. The best treatment was P3 1.5 mL/L with the smallest ammonia content of 0.0403 mg/L. a specific growth rate of 0.98%. An absolute growth rate of 0.76 g, an absolute length of 1.06 cm, and a survival rate of 81.4%. The value of water quality during the research was 29-300C, pH 6.5-7.0, and DO 2.9-3.3 mg/L. The value of water quality during the study was good enough to support the survival of North African catfish.

Abstract

The recirculation system, in principle, is the reuse of water that has been removed from cultivation activities. Cachama (Colossoma macropomum) is a relatively high economic value fishery commodity. This study aimed to obtain the best filter dose for water quality on the survival of cachama. The experimental method used a completely randomized design with six permitted treatments and three replications. The treatment used was P0 (without filter) with P1 (100% charcoal filter), P2 (100% zeolite filter), P3 (50% charcoal and 50% zeolite filter), P4 (25% charcoal and 75% zeolite filter), and P5 (75% charcoal and 25% zeolite filter) the fish kept for 50 days. The results of this study showed that the best treatment was P4 (25% charcoal and 75% zeolite filter), which resulted in a recent weight growth of 6.12 g, static length growth of 4.86 cm, growth rate specific growth of 2.08%, survival of 100%, and food conversion ratio of 1.95. Providing 25% charcoal and 75% zeolite filters affects water quality, growth, and survival rate.

Abstract

Research on tidal analysis based on seasons has been carried out in Lasolo Bay, Southeast Sulawesi, using secondary data, namely tidal data in 2021 in January representing the western season, April representing the transition season I, July representing the eastern season and October representing the transition season II. This study aims to determine the type of tides formed and the value of sea level elevation in each season at the research site. Tidal data processing uses the admiralty method, producing amplitudes and phase differences from 9 main harmonic components. The analysis results of the calculation of formzhal numbers show that the type of tides formed in Lasolo Bay is a mixed type of double daily inclined with a formzhal number value of 0.5618-0.7059. In addition, based on the calculation of sea level elevation, the maximum average sea level (MSL) occurs in the second transition season (October), which is 532 cm, and the western season (January) is 460 cm. For the other two seasons, the first transitional season (April) and the eastern season (July) have an average sea level of 101 cm and 130 cm.

Abstract

Commercial feed contributes to the operational costs of aquaculture production activities. On the other hand, making your feed requires formulation and availability of raw materials in maintained quantity and quality. Local feed raw materials can be used as alternative ingredients. Still, one of the obstacles is several limiting factors, such as crude fiber and the binding of some essential nutrients, such as protein and minerals. Hence, nutrient utilization is low and has a direct impact on growth. Adding feed additives as sources of enzymes is considered to help speed up the digestive process so sufficient nutrients are available for growth and survival. Enzymes break down large molecules such as crude fiber starch, increasing protein and fat into forms easily digested and absorbed by fish. This paper aims to review the use of enzymes to improve the quality of fish feed ingredients. The method used is Literature Review. Improving the quality of feed raw materials with the help of enzymes can increase the quality of fish feed ingredients. Application of enzymes in fish feed as additional feed ingredients (feed additives) through the addition of commercial enzymes, enzymes from plant or animal extracts, and microbial enzymes

Abstract

The existence of coral reef ecosystems in Indonesia is a potential marine resource that needs to be preserved due to the many benefits of the coral reef ecosystem. Utilization of Sentinel-2A imagery for coral reef mapping can be done using two approaches, namely pixel-based and object-based. In this study, pixel-based classification and object-based classification are used to determine the dynamics of the distribution of coral reefs in the waters of Pejarakan Village, Bali, during the dry and rainy seasons. The data used are Sentinel-2A image data for 2018, 2020, and 2022 and field data used for the research accuracy test process. Field data was collected using the purposive sampling method, and the accuracy test process was carried out using the confusion matrix method. The data processing results using pixel and object classification show that classification using the object classification method is considered more accurate than pixel classification because it produces an accuracy value of up to 69.4%. Meanwhile, the pixel classification accuracy value is only 61.1%.
