Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the alignment of fairy tale books published by Naura with moral values and reasoning that are appropriate for early childhood.and its relevance to child development at RA Rumah Kreatif Wadas Kelir. Ontology in this context is interpreted as a fundamental study of the nature of values, character, and the formation of children's personalities which are represented through the storyline, characters, and moral messages in fairy tales. This study also examines whether these stories meet the criteria for quality literature that supports moral development in accordance with the developmental characteristics of early childhood. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a content analysis approach, combined with a case study design at RA Rumah Kreatif Wadas Kelir. The research findings indicate that Naura's fairy tale books effectively convey moral values relevant to children's daily experiences, such as obedience and perseverance. These values align with the typical moral reasoning stage in early childhood, which, according to Kohlberg's theory, corresponds to the pre-conventional level. The narratives presented in these books have ontological implications for early childhood education, particularly in fostering and supporting the moral development of young learners. The stories in this book can be a fun character learning medium, making it easier for teachers to instill good values, and supporting the formation of children's self-identity based on story literacy, while also providing practical recommendations for educators in optimizing the use of story books as a character learning medium.

Abstract

Parenting is an attitude carried out by parents or adults around a child to care for and educate the child. Then, custom is something that applies in a place to be implemented. This study aims to determine the procession of preparation for the birth of traditional Muslims in the village of Tegal Badeng, Negara District, Bali. Starting from before birth to welcoming the birth of a child and the daily care process for mothers who work for two families with early childhood. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The informants in this study were three mothers who worked as factory employees and the local community. This study found how the initial procession started from the child in the womb until the process of welcoming the birth of a child and the care provided by three informants. There are traditional and religious rituals in the procession before birth, namely holding a seven-month event and in welcoming the birth of a child, a nelai event is held. In addition to preparation for birth, in the caregiving process the three informants separated between care and their working hours. Family involvement is a factor supporting the success of the birth preparation procession to parenting.

Abstract

Early childhood education plays a key role in establishing healthy lifestyle habits; however, health-related domains such as nutrition, hygiene, physical activity, and socio-emotional learning are often addressed in a fragmented manner in preschool settings. This study aimed to design, implement, and analyze a health promotion intervention in a Portuguese preschool, examining its contribution to children’s health-related knowledge and behaviors, as well as to the professional development of the intern educator. The study was conducted as part of a professional higher technical internship in Child and Youth Care and adopted an action research methodology. Cycles of planning, action, observation, and reflection guided the implementation of the Healthy Life project, which comprised seven structured, play-based activities focused on nutrition, hygiene, physical activity, and socio-emotional regulation. Data was collected through systematic participant observation, field notes, photographic documentation, and reflective journals. Observational data indicated improvements in children’s ability to identify healthy and less healthy foods, describe basic hygiene procedures, and express emotions using appropriate vocabulary. Behavioral indicators included more frequent spontaneous handwashing before meals, peer reminders of hygiene routines, and increased requests for water instead of sweetened beverages during snack time. Group-based activities were associated with enhanced cooperation, turn-taking, and empathetic responses among peers. The findings suggest that preschools are effective contexts for promoting healthy lifestyles when health education is integrated into daily routines and supported by reflective teaching practices. The study highlights the importance of educator training, institutional support, and family involvement to sustain health-promoting behaviors in early childhood education.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of parents in guiding early childhood interactions with artificial intelligence (AI)-based technology within the framework of digital parenting. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving ten parents of children aged 4–6. The findings indicate that active mediation was the most commonly applied strategy (8 out of 10 parents), though restrictive mediation remains dominant in limiting access and screen time. Co-using was the least practiced due to time constraints and low digital literacy. A key finding highlights parents' limited understanding of AI principles, which hinders reflective and educational engagement during children’s AI use. This study introduces a novel contribution by integrating parental AI literacy into the parental mediation model and proposes a theoretical modification of digital parenting. Practical implications include the need for parental AI literacy modules and child technology design that fosters active family involvement. These findings underscore the shift in digital parenting from mere technical control toward reflective guidance grounded in AI literacy. Keywords: artificial intelligence, digital parenting, early childhood
