Abstract

Information technology is a general term that describes any technology that assists humans in creating, modifying, storing, communicating funds or disseminating information. Information technology is useful in the field of education, it can especially help support the lecture process at the Faculty of Medicine. The purpose of this study was to describe the information technology skills of students at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Riau. The type of this research is a descriptive research. The research data is the result of the observation of students in  class 2017, 2018 and 2019, totaling 126 students by researchers through a number of tests. The result of this study showed that information technology skills in the use of email at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Riau were the most mastered, while information technology skills in the use of number processing software, especially Microsoft Excel, were the most unmastered by students.

Abstract

Juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) is a rare benign tumour affecting mostly adolescent and can be malignant because it’s aggressive, destructive, spread locally and often extends to the skull. The exact cause of JNA is unknown. JNA originates from the pterygopalatine fossa at the aperture of the pterygoid canal. Clinical symptoms include nasal obtruction, epistaxis and headaches. The diagnosis is based on anamnesia, physical and radiological examination. CT scan and MRI are the main modalities in detecting and determining tumour stage.

Abstract

Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) is a plasma derivative product that can provide passive immune protection against various pathogens. IVIG was given to COVID-19 patients who are seriously and critically ill. In this case report, a 43-year-old male patient who has been confirmed with COVID-19 is admitted to the COVID-19 ICU. The patient complains of tightness, coughing and weakness. The examination found decreased SpO2, hypertension and Chest X-ray revealed bilateral bronchopneumonia. On the first day the patient was given antiviral remdesivir 200mg drip IV/3 hours, amlodipine 1x 5mg, codeine 3x10 mg, combivent 3x1, furosemide, and albumin 25% 2 kolf. On days two to five patients were given antiviral remdesivir 100mg drip IV/3 hours, IVIG, namely Gamaras 5 flash, heparin 25,000 units. On the tenth day of treatment in the ICU, the patient’s complaints had decreased. On the eleventh day the patient had no complaints and the patient’s vital signs concluded that the problem was resolved.

Abstract

Sepsis is life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection and become one of leading causes of death in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The two components of treating sepsis shock are fluid resuscitation and administration of vasopressor. Early administration of vasopressor in conjunction with fluid administration can reduce mortality because it reduces the volume of resuscitation so as to prevent excess fluid in the patient. Recent recommendation from  Surviving Sepsis Campaign (SSC) suggest fluid resuscitation and medication within the first 1 hour including vasopressor administration in concomitant life-threatening cases of hyptension or immediately after fluid resuscitation to maintain MAP level ≥ 65mmHg. Holistic treatment will reduce the mortality of patient with sepsis shock in the ICU

Abstract

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease that causes tissue damage, deformity, and death if not treated immediately. The aim of this study  to description of RA patients in the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Arifin Achmad Riau Province 2015 – 2019. The results showed that total cases was 55 cases with the more common in female (87,3%) with most age group was 46-55 years (34,5%) and the main complaints were joint pain (85,5%). Rheumatoid arthritis patients with laboratory examinations were non-reactive rheumatoid factor (RF) levels by 20 patients out of 30 patients, levels of Anti-Citrullinated Protei  Antibodies (ACPA) or Immunoglobulin G anti-Cyclic Citrulinated Protein (IgG anti-CCP) reactive by 3 patients out of 4 patients, levels C-Reactive Protein (CRP) abnormal by 18 patients out of 21 patients and levels Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) abnormal by 20 patients out of 23 patients. The results also showed that the most pharmacological therapy given was corticosteroid (87,3%)

Abstract

Toxoplasma metabolism effect can rise the dopamine production which aggravate the simptoms of schizophrenia. Some of the research reports that patients which diagnosed with schizophrenia with positive IgG Toxoplasma need longer duration of treatment and may relapse. This study was conducted by cross sectional method on 51 patients with first episode schizophrenia, including acute and temporary psychotic disorder, in Tampan Mental Hospital – Pekanbaru. IgG anti-toxoplasma were detected on the patients at the first treatment in 2019, and then the length period of treatment and the recurrence frequency were monitored in the first year of the course of the disease. From the chi square test result, we can conclude that there’s no effect of IgG Toxoplasma on the duration of treatment on the first episode schizophrenia patients as well as the recurrence frequency which monitored in the first year course of the disease (p>0.05). There’s no effect of IgG Toxoplasma on the duration of treatment on the first episode schizophrenia patients as well as the recurrence frequency.

Abstract

This research was conducted to investigate the relationship between nutritional status and quality of life in CKD patients with hemodialysis at Arifin Achmad Regional Hospital. The design of this research was an analytic study with a cross-sectional approach that obtained primary data from the questionnaire. Based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, showed the total cases were 54 cases, mostly suffered by men(56%) with an age group 45-64 years by 74.5%. An assessment of medical conditions obtained by 54% of respondents had a duration of hemodialysis>12 months with 74% had a reduction of weight in a varying range. Assessment nutritional status with SGA-DMS questionnaire showed malnutrition results (84%) and assessment quality of life with KDQOL-SF36 questionnaire showed the good quality of life results (57%). The bivariate analysis used Pearson-Chi-Square with p=0.003. Conclusion there was a significant relationship between nutritional status and quality of life in CKD patients with hemodialysis at Arifin Achmad Regional Hospital.

Abstract

Nematode worm Anisakis sp is the causative agent of anisakiasis, a zoonosis which continues to be a health problem in humans, globally. Its clinical spectum varies from mild to very severe and always connected with sea fishes, one important source of nutrition for the community that cannot be ignored. In addition, consumer’s behavior and lifestyle in processing and consuming sea fishes also have has the potency as the predisposing factor for its transmission and clinical manifestations. This review article aimed to describes recent global data on anisakiasis and its occurrence in marine fishes of Indonesian waters and the risk of transmission in the community.

Abstract

House dust mites (HDM) are organism which may be found in people’s houses around the world. House dust mites can live optimally in the house with humidity above 70%. This study aimed to find out the proportion and risk factors of HDM, and also the relationship in the student’s houses of SDN 001 Buluh Cina, Kampar District, Riau Province. This study was an analytical study with cross sectional design and quota sampling method with 70 respondents. Dust samples were collected from bed, sofa/chair, floor, carpet, and ventilation of student’s houses. The data used in this study and transported for direct microscopic examination of the dust. The data on risk factors obtained from questionnaire. Based on microscopic examination, proportion of HDM positive in this study was 47,1%. Risk factors analysis showed that most respondents have private house status (82,9%), good interpretation of frequency of cleaning the bed (54,3%) and area of ventilation (80%), ceramic floor type (68,5%), and  synthetic bed type (78,5%). Analysis of the relationship between the presence of HDM and risk factors showed that there was a significance difference between risk factor type of bed with the presence of HDM (p < 0,05).

Abstract

Spina bifida is a fault in the development of spine and the bones around until it leaves gap or defect in the spine. About 36 cases of spina bifida were involved in this research. The characteristis of spina bifida patients, mostly occurs at the patients at the age of > 28 days (83,3%). Most of them were male (52,8%). The most frequent spina bifida patients were the second child (44,4%) and location where spina bifida occurs were at the lumbosakral (72,2%). Classified into spina bifida aperta type (86,1%). The highest age of patients’ mother suffering from spina bifida was at the age of  20-40 (80,6%). In general, rupture didn’t occur on spina bifida patients (94.4%). The weight of spina bifida patients were between 2.500-4.000 gr (94,4%) and they didn’t have other congenital abnormalities (47,2%). The most gestational age of spina bifida patients’ mothers when giving birth were, is at 28-40 weeks (94.4%).
