Abstract

Nutritional status is an expression of a state of balance between intake of nutrient and their requirements. Diabetes mellitus is one of the comorbid diseases of obesity due to insulin resistance. This has a negative impact on the tissue causing complications, especially central obesity because it is more resistant to the effects of insulin than adipocytes in other areas. This study aims to describe the nutritional status of people with type 2 diabetes based on anthropometry. This research was a descriptive study with a cross sectional approach using purposive sampling method on 62 respondents. The data collected were anthropometric examinations, HbA1c, and questionnaires. Result of this study showed that most subjects were aged between 45-65 years (64,5%), mostly female (54,8%). Most subject (75,8%) being diabetic ≤5 years and as many as 61,3% had HbA1c levels ≥7%. The most prevalent diabetic drag used was metformin (69,4%). From the anthropometric examination, it was found that the most nutritional status was obesity (54.85%), with the most age> 45 years (56.9%), male gender (57.1%), onset from type 2 diabetes >65 years ( 66,7%), HbA1c levels ≥7% (55.3%) and use of insulin with a percentage of 71,4%. As many as 72,6% subject had central obesity.

Abstract

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a disease characterized by neoplastic transformation and abnormality of progenitor cells differentiation from myeloid cells. In AML there is a heterogeneous abnormality in hematopoietic progenitor cells, this abnormality has been identified and affects the balance between proliferation, survival and differentiation of body cells. Mutation of FMS-like tyrosin kinase 3 (FLT3) gene causes overexpression which is one of the most often found mechanism that has been identified could trigger genetic changes that can disturb intracellular signaling tissue in pathogenesis of leukemia. Besides being used as a diagnostic tool, FLT3 overexpression can also be used to assess the prognosis of AML.

Abstract

Vitamin D plays an important role in the pathogenesis of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) through regulating immune response. This study aimed to determine the relationship between vitamin D levels and impaired liver function in CHB patients. This was an observational analytical study conducted from March to October 2019. We included 36 CHB patients aged 38.31±12.98 years and consisted of 16 men and 20 women. Vitamin D levels were measured by enzyme-linked immune assay (ELISA) method while albumin and bilirubin levels were examined by colorimetric assay. Vitamin D levels were in normal limits in 80.6% and insufficiency/deficiency in 19.4% of CHB patients. ALBI ratio scores were good in 75% and moderate-poor in 25% of subjects. Furthermore, there was no significant association between vitamin D levels and the ALBI ratio. In conclusion, this study shows that there is no relationship between plasma vitamin D levels and impaired liver function in CHB patients.

Abstract

Maternal health is the health of women during pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period. World Health Organization (WHO) record every day in 2017 about 810 women died from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. Between 2000-2017, the maternal mortality ratio dropped by about 38% worldwide, but 4% of all maternal deaths occur in low and lower middle-income countries. Persistent occiput posterior (OP) is associated with increased rates of maternal and newborn morbidity. Cesarean delivery is higher (3 times greater risk of death) maternal morbidity and mortality than vaginal delivery and also costs more than normal childbirth. Forceps extraction is one of the operative obstetric actions that aims to help childbirth through normal childbirth. This is done for all conditions that threaten the mother and fetus that have indications to undergo childbirth. the use of forceps techniques, will assure successful, safe, and steady performance of forced delivery. Therefore, obstetric forceps should be inherited of skills to the trainee at this time. Therefore, it is reasonable for the standards establishing the proper position for forceps delivery to vary between experienced and inexperienced operators. The first priority is safe and secure implementation of the procedure.

Abstract

The 2019–20 Coronavirus outbreak has been declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). Cytokine storms and impaired blood coagulation are frequently associated with Covid-19. Dysregulation of the coagulation cascade and interalveolar fibrin clot formation are prominent findings in coronavirus infection associated with severe respiratory disease and have been demonstrated in human and animal models. A 66-year-old woman with COVID-19 was consulted by the Anesthesia Department of the Arifin Achmad Hospital Pekanbaru for intensive care. The patient complained of shortness of breath since 4 days of SMRS. The patient had an elevated d-dimer. Anticoagulation may be considered in COVID-19 patients from the time of treatment until the patient's discharge (35-42 days).
