Abstract

The image of a destination significantly impacts tourists' experiences and intentions, particularly in the hospitality and tourism industry. This study examines how the image of Dusun Bambu Ecolodge influences tourists' intention to engage in staycations. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 105 respondents who had experienced a staycation at the ecolodge. The analysis employed descriptive and verification statistical techniques, including simple linear regression. The findings reveal that image positively and significantly influences staycation intention, with a correlation coefficient of 0.662 and a determination coefficient of 41%. This indicates that the image variable can explain 41% of the variation in staycation intention, while other factors influence the rest. These results underscore the importance of maintaining and enhancing a positive image to boost staycation intentions. The study highlights practical strategies, including optimizing digital marketing and leveraging social media to promote engaging content and positive visitor experiences. This research contributes to understanding how destination image drives tourist behaviour, offering valuable insights for ecolodge operators and stakeholders in the sustainable tourism sector.

Abstract

Tri Hita Karana (THK), a core Balinese philosophy emphasizing harmony between religious, human, and environmental values, is a guiding principle in tourism development and environmental communication. This study analyzed the effectiveness of environmental communication practices rooted in THK at Melasti Beach. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data collection methods included observation, document analysis, and in-depth interviews with key stakeholders such as the customary leader of Ungasan Village, Melasti Beach managers, local community members, and tourists. Data triangulation was used to validate findings and ensure reliability. The research findings reveal that environmental communication based on THK principles has effectively fostered pro-environmental behaviors among stakeholders. By integrating spiritual reverence, social cohesion, and ecological care, implementing THK-oriented communication strategies at Melasti Beach has preserved the natural environment and strengthened community engagement and cultural integrity. This study underscores the potential of local wisdom like THK to inspire sustainable tourism practices and environmental stewardship in Bali and beyond.

Abstract

Canggu Tourism Village, a rapidly growing tourism destination, faces significant challenges in maintaining a balance between economic growth and environmental conservation. In this context, adopting an environmental sustainability orientation becomes critical to ensuring that economic activities do not negatively affect the environment. This study investigates the impact of environmental sustainability orientation on environmental performance in Canggu Tourism Village, with a focus on the mediating role of environmental innovation and the moderating effect of environmental hostility. A quantitative approach was employed, collecting data from 122 tourism actors through a structured questionnaire using a judgment sampling technique. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4, examining both the outer and inner models. The findings reveal that environmental sustainability orientation significantly enhances environmental performance, both directly and indirectly, through environmental innovation. However, environmental hostility does not moderate the relationship between environmental sustainability orientation and environmental performance. These results underscore the importance of fostering environmental innovation as a pathway to sustainable tourism development, even in the face of external environmental challenges.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of marketing strategies deployed on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, highlighting their critical role in driving sales and enhancing visibility for gastronomy businesses in the digital era. Social media enables direct customer interaction, providing business owners with valuable feedback and opportunities to foster strong relationships, ultimately increasing customer loyalty. The research emphasizes the significance of analyzing customer sentiment and exploring key factors influencing consumer behavior, including the impact of influencers and user engagement on these platforms. Findings reveal that prior experiences and consumer knowledge significantly shape gastronomic preferences and decisions, demonstrating the powerful influence of social networks on consumer behavior. By identifying essential elements and adopting data-driven marketing strategies, gastronomy businesses can attract and retain customers while promoting their products. This study employs a systematic literature review (SQLR) methodology to offer a comprehensive understanding of the role of social media in the gastronomy industry, providing actionable insights for practitioners and scholars alike.

Abstract

As one of the largest global economic sectors, tourism significantly contributes to economic and social development. However, it is also a leading cause of environmental degradation, including ecosystem disruption, carbon emissions, and resource exploitation. Tourists ' pro-environmental behavior (PEB) is crucial in mitigating tourism's adverse effects through sustainable actions like responsible waste management and green transportation. This study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to synthesize research on PEB in tourism from 2013 to 2023. Drawing from 24 peer-reviewed articles from the Scopus database, the review identifies key themes: intrinsic and extrinsic behavioral drivers, the transformative role of technology, emotional engagement, organizational and community-level factors, and the unique challenges of rural tourism. The findings reveal that intrinsic factors, such as personal norms and moral obligations, are foundational drivers of PEB, while extrinsic factors, including environmental policies and supportive infrastructure, enable sustainable actions. Technology, particularly AI, social media, blockchain, and augmented reality, emerges as a dynamic antecedent, enhancing transparency and decision-making in sustainable tourism practices. Emotional engagement, such as awe and attachment to destinations, amplifies tourists' long-term commitments to sustainability. However, significant research gaps remain, including the need for longitudinal studies, geographic diversity, and cross-cultural analyses. The study proposes a conceptual model integrating these factors with sociocultural contexts, moderating their effectiveness. This model offers theoretical insights and practical implications for policymakers, destination managers, and researchers. The tourism sector can promote PEB and advance sustainable practices globally by addressing identified gaps and adopting innovative strategies.
