Abstract

Operating room scheduling is a complex process that involves various resources and takes the interests of many parties into consideration. The genetic algorithm is the frequently used metaheuristic algorithm to solve a large-size operating room scheduling problem. Many techniques have been developed to improve the genetic algorithms' performance in dealing with the operating room scheduling complexity. In this paper, we survey available literature to identify improvement techniques used at each stage of the genetic algorithm and capture the underlying problems. This review provides a mapping of improvement techniques in genetic algorithms correlating with the considered problems. The results can be employed by other researchers as a guide for future research in integrating a genetic algorithm or other population-based metaheuristic algorithm with a recent heuristic algorithm following the future directions of operating room scheduling research.

Abstract

The growth in the retail industry means that the retail industry must have a competitive advantage to compete. One source of competitive advantage is customer experience. One factor that has a positive influence on customer experience is the service provided by frontline employees. Nowadays, customers can easily share their experiences and information in online reviews. Therefore, a good understanding of online reviews is necessary to maintain customer satisfaction. This paper proposes a new method for obtaining information from online reviews available on online review platforms such as Google Maps. Reviews on the website will be scraped and translated into English using the large language model (LLM). The translated reviews will be translated to obtain aspects, sentiments, and opinions using an aspect-based sentiment analysis (ABSA) model that has been previously drilled using a dataset in English. The findings are visualized into Pareto diagrams and word cloud to identify aspects related to human resources that most influence the negative or positive ratings given by customers through online reviews.

Abstract

Since everything in this world is mortal and ultimately ends, life here is valuable for making a positive contribution. Early in life, one must obtain an educational or learning process to contribute positively. SDS Kartini is a service industrial institution in the basic education field, which consists of six levels or grades. However, in the implementation, the development of students in grades I and II at SDS Kartini is still less than optimal. Next, since human resources are mostly involved in the learning process performances, the poka yoke method is used to prepare the improvement solution. Then, at the procedure of the poka yoke method, there is a stage for choosing the best solution. The analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method can be applied to determine the best solution. Based on the opinions of several education practitioners (class teacher, Chairman of Foundation, and school accreditation assessor) and the calculations using the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method, the best solution obtained is that the teacher must establish good relationships with the parents or guardians of the students. To reach that goal, a standard operating procedure (SOP) or workflow focused on optimizing attendance records has been proposed. That proposed solution is named "HADIR", where "HADIR" stands for harmonization, assistance, declaration, inspection, and repetition.

Abstract

A higher education institution (HEI) builds its quality throughout the process, from student admission to graduation. One of the critical points in the admission process, by which the applicants are selected, is the number of applicants being selected. To get a large number of applicants, an HEI undertakes marketing programs. Many studies on HEI marketing discuss factors differently, depending on the case and the viewpoints or the objectives. This study reviews 52 articles on HEI marketing to get general insights and develop a theoretical framework that is expected to be beneficial for HEI practitioners to design their marketing programs and for researchers to get a general model to be referred to. The insights from the review are, first, the development of modified marketing mix 3P1Q (quality, price, promotion, place) for HEI marketing, which is adapted from marketing mix 4P. The second insight is that the focus of HEI marketing discussion has shifted because of the COVID-19 pandemic, regarding the disruption and the intense use of digital technology. This phenomenon could help interested parties predict the future of HEI marketing. The result of this study is a comprehensive theoretical framework of HEI marketing that integrates HEI attributes, HEI marketing factors, HEI marketing impacts, and the relationships among those elements.
