Abstract

Stunting is a condition in which toddlers have a height or length below the standard for their age. Stunting in toddlers is a chronic nutritional problem, and one of the reasons for the high prevalence of stunting is the lack of KADARZI (nutritionally aware families) behaviors. This study aims to determine the relationship between KADARZI behaviors and the incidence of stunting among toddlers aged 24-59 months in the working area of Telaga Jaya Health Center. This research is a quantitative study with an analytic survey design using a crosssectional approach. The population consists of mothers and toddlers aged 24-59 months in Telaga Jaya Health Center's working area, with 596 toddlers. The sampling technique used is stratified random sampling, with a total sample size of 120 respondents. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test with a questionnaire as the instrument. The study results showed a significant P-value = 0.000 (Asymp. Sig 2-tailed) with ? = 0.05. The conclusion is that there is a relationship between KADARZI behaviors and the incidence of stunting among toddlers aged 24-59 months in the working area of Telaga Jaya Health Center. This study is expected to provide input or serve as a reference in educating families about the importance of KADARZI behaviors to prevent toddler stunting

Abstract

Pregnancy constitutes a component of the broader human reproductive process. A salient issue during pregnancy is chronic energy deficiency (CED), defined as a condition in which an individual manifests nutritional deficiencies (calories and protein) that persist over an extended duration or are characterized as chronic. This condition can lead to various health complications for both mother and fetus, including an increased risk of low birth weight (LBW), miscarriage, premature birth, congenital disorders, small head size in newborns, maternal and infant mortality, difficult labor, postpartum hemorrhage, and cesarean section (CS) delivery due to mother's condition, which often results in a lack of energy to undergo a normal childbirth. The objective of this study is to ascertain the efficacy of telenursing in enhancing health literacy among pregnant women grappling with CED. This article utilizes a case study approach, employing instruments to assess the knowledge level of pregnant women and their nutritional status. The intervention strategy employed to address CED involves some improvement in health literacy through telenursing. The measurement of knowledge level and nutritional monitoring were carried out over a period of 14 days. The findings indicate that clients exhibited an enhancement in knowledge levels following the provision of health literacy and nutrition education. Furthermore, the study found that pregnant women were able to effectively manage their nutritional needs during pregnancy. The efficacy of telenursing in improving health literacy concerning nutritional needs among pregnant women susceptible to CED is substantiated by this study. Thus, it is recommended that frontline health workers consider utilizing telenursing in healthcare services, particularly in providing education and support for pregnant women, as a strategic approach to addressing Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) during pregnancy

Abstract

Introduction: Cooperative learning, one of the widely applied active pedagogical methods, aims to improve students' abilities. This approach is based on the concept that learning occurs in a social context, involving interaction between individuals, the environment, and peers. However, research on this active method is still limited, especially in the context of higher education and communication. Research shows that cooperative learning can improve students' social and intellectual development, help them hone their interpersonal skills, and increase their sense of accomplishment, productivity, and psychological well-being. Methods: This study used a quantitative approach with a pre-test and post-test One Group Design experimental design, involving 104 respondents and a total sampling technique. The instruments used for data collection are learning cards and knowledge questionnaires. Results: The study showed a significant difference in students' knowledge before and after applying the "Make a Match" learning model using learning cards, with an average overall score of 3596, a standard deviation of 4654, and a p-value < 0.05. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the "Make a Match" learning model that uses learning cards is more effective in increasing student knowledge than methods that do not.

Abstract

Constipation is a health problem that affects the quality of life of individuals. Gender, fiber intake, fluid intake and physical activity are factors that affect the incidence of constipation. Employees with busy or irregular working hours often have unhealthy lifestyles, including a low-fiber diet, low drinking water consumption and high sedentary behavior. This study aims to analyze the relationship between fiber intake, fluid intake, and physical activity with the incidence of constipation in employees. A total of 130 employees aged 20 – 60 years, who had no history of illness and medication that can cause constipation and were not pregnant, were included in this study. Fiber and fluid intake data were collected using the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) while data on physical activity was assessed using the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). The diagnosis of functional constipation was determined using the diagnostic criteria from ROME III. The analysis was carried out using the Chi-square test and the significance level was 95%. This study found a relationship between fiber intake, fluid intake, and physical activity with the incidence of functional constipation (p=0.03; p=0.05; p<0.001), but did not find a relationship between sex and the incidence of functional constipation (p=0.18). Functional constipation in employees can be affected by fiber intake, fluid intake and physical activity of the employee, but not by gender

Abstract

Cervical cancer is one of the causes of death in women in Indonesia. Many studies have been conducted to determine the anti-cancer effects of natural ingredients. Pomegranate peel contains ellagic acid which has anti-cancer effects. In this study, the anti-cancer activity of pomegranate peel was examined against HeLa cell lines. Pomegranate peel was obtained from Malang, East Java, extracted using 70% ethanol. Cell viability and IC50 values were examined using the MTT test after incubation for 24, 48, and 72 hours. The percentage of living cells was calculated using a hemocytometer using Trypan Blue staining. DNA fragmentation was examined using electrophoresis as a marker of apoptosis activation. The IC50 value in pomegranate peel extract was at a concentration of 450 µg/ml. The results of the percentage of viability cells using hemocytomete at an IC50 concentration of 52%. Smears in DNA fragmentation examination were seen in samples incubated for 24 hours, indicating apoptosis activation. Pomegranate peel extract has anticancer activity against HeLa cell lines, with a mechanism involving apoptosis. This potential indicates that pomegranate peel extract can be further developed as a natural anticancer agent
