Abstract

This research aims to identify the types of errors made by students in solving questions on quadratic equations based on castolan theory. The subjects of this research were 14 class X students. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. The instruments used are test sheets and documentation. Based on the results of this research, it shows that students make mistakes when solving quadratic equation problems. The types of errors made are conceptual errors and procedural errors. Students make the most conceptual mistakes, such as incorrectly doing factoring, incorrectly determining variables x and constants, incorrectly writing quadratic formulas, and incorrectly writing circumference formulas. This is due to students' lack of understanding of concepts in solving mathematics problems so that teachers have an important role in minimizing the errors that students often make.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a brain balance-based module to improve students' mathematical creative thinking abilities on geometric sequences and series. The development of this e-module uses the Whole Brain Teaching (WBT) method, which is a brain balance method. The applications used in e-module development are Microsoft Office Word and Flip PDF Professional. This research is development research (Research and Development). The development model used in this research is the Plomp model which consists of three phases, namely the Preliminarity Phase, the Development or Prototype Phase, and the Assessment Phase. The instruments used in this research are validation sheets, practicality sheets and the N Gain Test instrument to see the effectiveness of the e-module. The result is that the validation test carried out by six media and material expert validators obtained an average score of 94.77% and was categorized as very valid. The results of the e-module practicality test carried out on teachers and students obtained an average score of 91.3% and were categorized as very good. Based on the N Gain test carried out in class e-module is categorized as medium.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze problem solving abilities in terms of students' mathematical disposition in class VIII mathematics subjects at Darul Hikmah Karang Genteng Middle School, Pagutan. This type of research is qualitative with descriptive methods. The research subjects were 18 class VIII students. Data on problem solving abilities was collected through interviews with 2 students with a high mathematical disposition, 2 students with a medium mathematical disposition and 2 students with a low mathematical disposition. The result is the mathematical disposition of class VIII students at Darul Hikmah Middle School is divided into three categories, namely high, medium and low. Students with a high mathematical disposition have high problem solving abilities because they are able to fulfill the four indicators of problem solving according to Polya's theory, namely, understanding the problem, planning a solution, resolving the problem and checking again. Students with a moderate mathematical disposition have moderate problem solving abilities because they fulfill the three indicators of problem solving according to Polya's theory, namely, understanding the problem, solving the problem and checking again. And students with a low mathematical disposition have low problem solving abilities because they only fulfill two indicators of problem solving according to Polya's theory

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of STEM learning on the ability to understand students' mathematical concepts on composition function material and inverse functions. This research approach is a quantitative approach and a type of quasi-experimental research with a form of one group pretest-posttest design. The sample of this study was class XB MA Tarbiyatul Mustafid students totaling 25 students. The sampling technique in this study was carried out by cluster sampling. Research instruments used in research are tests, documentation and observation sheets. The data analysis technique uses paired sample t-test. The results of the paired t-test that Ho was rejected showed that the average ability to understand students' mathematical concepts after being given STEM learning was higher than before it was given so that it can be concluded that STEM learning is effective on students' ability to understand mathematical concepts.

Abstract

This article aims to identify students' learning obstacles in learning mathematics, especially in the material of enumeration rules. This study uses a descriptive exploratory design. Data were collected through tests, in-depth interviews with students and teachers, and classroom observation techniques. The results show that students face epistemological, ontogenic, and didactic learning obstacles. Epistemological obstacles are seen from students' difficulties in distinguishing between the concepts of permutation and combination. Ontogenic obstacles include weaknesses in mastering prerequisite materials, such as basic mathematical operations, and low student self-confidence. Didactic obstacles arise from less varied learning methods, with the dominance of lecture methods and minimal use of visual aids or interactive media. The main factors causing obstacles involve a combination of internal factors, such as limited understanding of concepts and operational errors of students, and external factors, such as teaching strategies that are less adaptive to students' needs. Based on these findings, recommended learning strategies include the use of visual aids, problem-based learning approaches, group-based learning, and reinforcement of prerequisite materials through gradual exercises.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the statistical literacy skills of prospective mathematics teachers in terms of Adversity Quotient (AQ). This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method. The subjects of this study came from 100 prospective mathematics teachers from UIN Mataram. The selection of subjects was based on the results of the adversity quotient questionnaire with the climber, camper and quitter types and students who tend to be able to master statistical literacy based on the results of problem-solving tests. Data collection techniques used adversity quotient questionnaires, statistical literacy test instruments and task-based interviews. While data analysis refers to the statistical literacy framework. The results of this study are that there is no significant difference between the statistical literacy skills of the climber, camper, and quitter types. All three are able to understand and present data well. The difference between these three types lies in the ability of each type to interpret data and communicate data, both verbally and in writing.
