Abstract

Several previous studies have shown students' low achievement in learning Geometry. However, the diversity of students' abilities affects their perspectives and ways of thinking in the learning process. Investigation of students' difficulties in solving Geometry problems based on their level of thinking is necessary to gain actual knowledge. Identifying student difficulties will help the teacher design effective lessons to address these issues. This research aims to identify and describe students' difficulties in solving geometry problems based on Van Hiele's level of thinking. This study used a qualitative approach with data analysis that entailed data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The subjects of this study were 3 students in the second academic year in junior high school who were purposively selected from 15 students who participated in the Van Hiele thinking levelling test. The results show that the stage of Van Hiele's thinking that students have achieved was Level 2 (informal conclusion). Students with Level 0 of thinking tend to have difficulty on understanding the concept of area of geometric shapes and unable to develop problem solving steps. Meanwhile, students at Level 1 had difficulty in obtaining alternative solutions to the problem of the concept of the area of geometry.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the concept of mathematical geometry found in the pottery craft of Banyumulek Village and the form of relevant math problems based on the concept of mathematical geometry found. This research uses a qualitative approach with ethnography type. The data collection methods used were observation, interview, and documentation. This research was conducted in Banyumulek Village, Kediri District, West Lombok, NTB. The results showed that in pottery (plate, glass, cobek, kekete, jug, selao, perapen, penyiong kupi, flower pot) there is a concept of mathematical geometry in some of the pottery, namely: curvilinear and flat geometry. The concept of geometry of flat circular shapes is found on the base of the plate, glass, cobek and the top of the jug and selao. While the tube shape is found on the glass, the hemispherical shape on the kekete and penyiong kupi, the cone shape is truncated on the selao, jug, and flower pot. The relevant form of mathematical problems is found in the geometry of spatial shapes in grade IX SMP / MTs, while flat shapes are found in grades VII and VIII SMP / MTs.

Abstract

Illiteracy is a big challenge in efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. This study aims to analyze the illiteracy rate in Indonesia from 2010 to 2024 using the Systematic Literature Review. The data in this study is in the form of articles sourced from Google Scholar and Dimensions AI. Articles were filtered with the Systematic Review Accelerator based on inclusion criteria. The data analysis technique uses VOSviewer and RStudio. The results of the study show that the trend of studying illiteracy in Indonesia fluctuates. Factors that affect the illiteracy rate, namely: pure elementary school participation rate, elementary school student-teacher ratio, open unemployment rate, percentage of poor population, percentage of malnourished toddlers, junior high school pure participation rate, percentage of junior high school educational facilities, percentage of junior high school educators, gross regional domestic product, percentage of households using computers/laptops, average length of schooling, number of educators, the percentage of residents have a mobile phone, and the percentage of areas with city status. Illiteracy figures are also affected by spatial effects. In addition, illiterate numbers have a simultaneous effect.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir komputasional siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah geometri, khususnya pada materi teorema Pythagoras, melalui strategi scaffolding. Berpikir komputasional melibatkan proses dekomposisi masalah, pengenalan pola, abstraksi, dan algoritmik yang membantu siswa memecahkan masalah secara sistematis. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan mixed methods, yaitu kombinasi kuantitatif dan kualitatif, dengan desain exploratory sequential. Data diperoleh melalui pre-test, post-test, observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi scaffolding efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir komputasional siswa. Sebelum diberikan perlakuan, sebagian besar siswa berada pada kategori sedang dan rendah dalam berpikir komputasional. Setelah diberikan scaffolding, terjadi peningkatan signifikan pada kemampuan berpikir komputasional siswa di semua kategori. Strategi scaffolding yang dilakukan meliputi eksplorasi masalah, identifikasi pola, penyederhanaan informasi, perencanaan langkah penyelesaian, dan evaluasi hasil. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi pada pengembangan metode pembelajaran matematika berbasis scaffolding untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir komputasional siswa, khususnya dalam pemecahan masalah geometri. Hasilnya dapat dijadikan referensi untuk penelitian selanjutnya dan sebagai panduan guru dalam pembelajaran yang lebih efektif.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the concept of mathematics, cultural values contained in the Sasak tribe's bekel game, and find out how the bekel game can be used in learning mathematics. This research uses a qualitative approach with the type of case study, data collection techniques through observation, interview guidelines, documentation, and questionnaires. The subjects in this study were MTs students who played bekel. The results showed that there are mathematical concepts in the game such as the concept of chance, building space in the form of a ball, and there are cultural values in the game such as the value of fun, the value of honesty, the value of democracy, and the value of aesthetics.

Abstract

This article aims to test the effect of implementing the flipped classroom model using interactive videos through edpuzzle on students' critical thinking skills at State Senior High School 1 Praya Barat. The sample in this study consisted of class X7 as the control class and X8 as the experimental class. The research approach used a Quasi experiment type of Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The data analysis technique was through nonparametric statistical tests. Because the initial abilities between the control and experimental classes were not equal, to answer the problem formulation, an N-Gain Score test was conducted to find the average difference between the control and experimental classes. As a result, it was found that the experimental class had an average N-Gain of 0.35 which was included in the medium category, and the control class achieved an average of 0.22 which was in the low category. The increase in the experimental class was higher than in the control class, so it can be concluded that the flipped classroom model using interactive videos through Edpuzzle has an effect on students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This article aims to test the effect of using Wordwall media on students' mathematical concept understanding ability at MTs Manba'ul Ulum Dasan Ketujur. This study uses a quantitative approach of quasi-experimental type with post-test only control group design. The population in this study were all female students of class VIII consisting of two classes, namely class VIII-1 students totaling 22 students as the control class, and class VIII-2 totaling 22 students as the experimental class. The sampling technique used a saturated sampling technique involving all members of the population as research samples. Data were collected through tests and observations. The results of this study indicate that the Sig. (2-tailed) value in the independent sample t-test is 0.002 <0.05 which indicates that H_0 is rejected, so it can be concluded that there is an effect of Wordwall learning media on students' mathematical concept understanding ability at Madrasah Tsanawiyah.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the implementation of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) model assisted by GeoGebra on the creative thinking skills of junior high school students. The study used a quantitative approach with a posttest-only control group design. The subjects of the study were grade VIII students at SMP Islam Tarbiyatusshibyan Beremi who were divided into two groups, namely the experimental class that received learning with the RME model assisted by GeoGebra and the control class that used conventional learning. The instrument used was a descriptive test of mathematical creative thinking skills. The results of data analysis showed that there was a significant difference between the creative thinking skills of students in the experimental class and the control class. This shows that the implementation of RME assisted by GeoGebra has a positive effect on improving students' creative thinking skills. Thus, the RME learning model assisted by GeoGebra can be an effective alternative in improving the quality of mathematics learning at the junior high school level

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Jigsaw learning model with a scientific approach on the understanding of mathematical concepts of grade VII junior high school students of MTs NW Lepak on integer material. The type of research used is: quantitative with a posttest-only control group design. The sample was determined by the purposive sampling method. The data analysis technique in this study used the independent sample T-test with SPSS software. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant effect of the application of the jigsaw learning model with a scientific approach on the understanding of mathematical concepts of grade VII A students of MTs NW Lepak.
