Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of environmentally friendly agriculture as an adaptation strategy for rice farmers to climate change in Beringin District, Deli Serdang Regency. The study used a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey method of 21 rice farmers. Data were collected through questionnaires, observations, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively using a Likert scale and SWOT analysis. The results showed that farmers' knowledge had an average score of 5.00 (100%), perception of climate change 4.86 (97.1%), application of environmentally friendly agriculture 4.55 (91.0%), pests and diseases 4.34 (86.8%), implementation constraints 4.43 (88.6%), and the use of environmentally friendly technology 4.42 (88.4%). Dominant practices include organic fertilizer, straw management into compost, stress-resistant varieties, and Integrated Pest Management. The main constraints are limited capital, production facilities, and technical assistance. The SWOT analysis positions farmers in a position to support growth strategies, with strengthening farmer groups, extension, financing, and adaptive technology as development priorities.

Abstract

This research was conducted in Surbakti Village, Simpang Empat District, Karo Regency, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia, at an altitude of approximately 1,250 meters above sea level (masl). The research was carried out from August to November 2025. This research was supervised by Dr. Ir. Muhammad Rizwan, M.P. as the Head Supervisor and Dr. Ir. Diapari Siregar, M.P. as the Assistant supervisor. Potato is a strategic horticultural commodity in North Sumatra, whose productivity has declined due to decreasing soil fertility and increasing pest and disease incidence. This study aimed to determine the effect of volcanic ash and organic matter formulations on soil nutrient status in potato cultivation fields in Surbakti Village. The experiment employed a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). The first factor was the formulation of volcanic ash and organic matter, consisting of: A0 = control; A1 = 5 tons/ha (60% volcanic ash + 40% rice husk); A2 = 5 tons/ha (60% volcanic ash + 40% cattle manure); and A3 = 5 ton/ha (40% volcanic ash + 30% rice husk + 30% cattle manure). The second factor was the application time of the volcanic ash and organic matter, consisting of: B1 = one week before planting; B2 = at planting; and B3 = one week after planting. The results showed that the volcanic ash formulations significantly affected plant height, number of leaves per plant, stem diameter, number of tubers per plant, tuber yield, tuber diameter, and the severity of late blight disease. The application timing significantly affected plant height, number of leaves per plant, number of tubers per plant, tuber yield, and tuber diameter. Furthermore, the interaction between volcanic ash formulation and application timing significantly affected plant height and the number of leaves per plant

Abstract

Digital transformation has become one of the defining forces of economic change in the twenty-first century. This paper examines how the spread of digital technologies broadband internet, mobile connectivity, digital financial services, e-commerce platforms, and government digital systems affects socio-economic inequalities and whether these technologies can support more inclusive patterns of development. Drawing on evidence from World Bank, Asian Development Bank, IMF, and academic studies covering the period roughly 2000–2025, the analysis shows that digital tools can raise productivity, expand market access for small producers and rural households, improve delivery of public services, and increase financial inclusion. At the same time, uneven access, skills gaps, and differences in complementary institutions mean that digitalisation sometimes reinforces existing divides between high- and low-income countries, urban and rural areas, and skilled and less-skilled workers. Key findings include the observation that a 10 percent rise in broadband penetration has been associated with roughly 1.4 percent higher GDP growth in developing economies, that mobile broadband expansion has reduced extreme poverty in places such as Nigeria, and that digital payments and identification systems can improve the reach and efficiency of social transfers. The paper argues that technology alone does not guarantee inclusiveness. Outcomes depend heavily on deliberate policies that expand affordable access, build digital skills, strengthen regulation, and ensure that complementary investments in education, infrastructure, and institutions accompany technological change. Without such measures, digital transformation risks becoming another source of divergence rather than a force for shared prosperity.

Abstract

India's adoption of the Flexible Inflation Targeting (FIT) framework in August 2016 marked a decisive break from the multiple-indicator approach that had guided the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for over two decades. Under Section 45ZA of the amended RBI Act, 1934, the Government of India, in consultation with the RBI, now sets a numerical inflation target once every five years, currently 4 per cent Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation with a tolerance band of ±2 percentage points. This paper undertakes an empirical assessment of that framework a decade on, using annual data on CPI inflation, real GDP growth, and the policy repo rate published by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI), the Reserve Bank of India, and the World Bank. The study is built around two specific objectives: first, to analyse the trend behaviour of inflation and growth before and after the adoption of FIT; and second, to evaluate whether the framework has delivered durable price stability without imposing a discernible cost on output growth. The analysis shows that average CPI inflation fell from roughly 6.8 per cent in the four years preceding FIT (2012–16) to about 4.7 per cent in the decade since, while average real GDP growth has been broadly maintained, aided by a swift post-pandemic recovery. At the same time, the paper documents episodes of tolerance-band breach most notably during 2020–22 driven largely by supply-side food and fuel shocks that monetary policy alone could not address. The paper concludes that FIT has meaningfully anchored inflation expectations and improved the credibility and transparency of Indian monetary policy, even as structural vulnerabilities linked to food-price volatility, monsoon dependence, and imported energy costs continue to test the framework's limits. The Government's decision in March 2026 to retain the 4 per cent target with the same tolerance band for a third consecutive review period (2026–31) is read, in this paper, as an endorsement of the framework's broad success, alongside a caution that its next phase must grapple more directly with core-versus-headline measurement questions.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of packaging and brand image on purchasing decisions with consumer perception as a mediating variable on the product. Wardah. The study used a quantitative approach with a survey method. The study population was students of Harapan University Medan (UNHAR) and the Islamic University of North Sumatra (UISU) who use Wardah skincare and makeup products. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a sample size of 170 respondents determined based on the recommendations of Hair et al. (2022). Data collection was carried out through questionnaires using a semantic differential scale of 1–10. Data analysis was carried out using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with the help of SmartPLS 4 software. The results of the outer model evaluation showed that all indicators met the convergent validity criteria with outer loading values > 0.70 and Average Variance Extracted (AVE) > 0.50. All constructs also met discriminant validity based on the Heterotrait-Monotrait Ratio (HTMT) < 0.90 and the Fornell-Larcker Criterion, and met the reliability criteria with Composite Reliability and Cronbach's Alpha values > 0.70. The inner model evaluation results showed an R-square value of 0.514 for the Consumer Perception variable and 0.608 for the Purchase Decision variable, which are in the medium category. A Q²predict value greater than zero indicates that the model has good predictive ability. The results of the hypothesis testing indicate that packaging has a positive effect. and significant on consumer perception (β = 0.537; p < 0.001) and purchasing decisions (β = 0.480; p < 0.001).Image brand Also influential positive And significantly on consumer perception (β = 0.483; p < 0.001) and purchasing decisions (β = 0.366; p < 0.001). Consumer perception has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions (β = 0.228; p = 0.001). In addition, consumer perception is proven to partially mediate the effect of packaging on purchasing decisions (β = 0.123; p = 0.002)And influence image brand to decision purchase (β = 0.110; p = 0.002). Based on results study can concluded that packaging Andimage Brand is a factor that can increase purchasing decisions for Wardah products, both directly and through improved consumer perception. Therefore, the company is advised to continue improving packaging quality and strengthening brand image to create more positive consumer perceptions, thereby increasing purchasing decisions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze, interpret, and develop a strategic model of leadership capabilities and managerial competencies demonstrated through effective communication, collaboration, and decision-making practices within the context of business strategy. The research background stems from the phenomenon that the successful implementation of business strategy is not solely determined by the quality of planning documents, but also depends heavily on the capacity of leaders and managers to mobilize human resources through persuasive communication, cross-unit collaboration, and timely, evidence-based decision-making. Many organizations possess conceptually superior business strategies, yet fail in implementation due to weaknesses in these three competencies. This study employed a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design. Data were collected through surveys of managers and organizational leaders, in-depth interviews, and analysis of business strategy documents. Analysis of the findings was conducted using scientific critical reasoning to examine relationships between variables, distinguish correlation and causality, and explore anomalies that arise in the field. The results show that effective communication capabilities serve as a foundation for building organizational trust; cross-functional collaboration enhances the quality of synergy and innovation; while data-driven and participatory decision-making determines the appropriate direction of business strategy. These three elements complement each other and form a unified leadership-managerial competency that significantly impacts the achievement of strategic objectives. Based on these findings, a Strategic Framework Model for Strengthening Leadership-Managerial Competencies was developed, along with implementation stages and obstacle mitigation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and interpret empirical findings in the realm of financial management through a scientific critical reasoning framework, in order to formulate strategic recommendations that are evidence-based, measurable, and operationally feasible. The research background is based on the common phenomenon where financial policy formulation often relies solely on statistical indicators, without in-depth verification of causal relationships, institutional contexts, and anomalies that arise in the field. This condition has the potential to produce recommendations that are biased, less applicable, and even have negative long-term implications. This study implements a multi-level analysis of findings based on scientific critical reasoning, which includes verifying data consistency, distinguishing correlation and causal relationships, exploring anomalies, and evaluating theoretical and practical implications. A structured analytical flow framework is designed as an operational guide, so that the interpretation process is not subjective, but rather follows logical stages that can be academically justified. The results show that financial performance is not solely determined by quantitative indicators, but is strongly influenced by the quality of risk-based governance implementation, human resource capacity, and the effectiveness of post-implementation monitoring mechanisms. There is a significant reciprocal relationship between financial governance and organizational performance, so a one-way approach to policy formulation will not produce optimal results. The strategic recommendations developed include strengthening risk-based governance, increasing human resource capacity, integrating financial information systems, strengthening oversight functions, and providing directions for further research. Each recommendation is accompanied by a phased implementation strategy and efforts to mitigate obstacles, ensuring its adoption in organizational environments with diverse resource constraints.

Abstract

This research aims to deepen the ability to critically evaluate and synthesize theories and concepts in business and management—a key distinguishing feature of doctoral researchers. Theories and concepts are not taken-for-granted truths, but rather constructs of thought born within a specific context, with implicit assumptions and accompanying strengths and weaknesses. Critically evaluating means tracing their origins, examining their logical foundations, testing their suitability, and identifying their strengths and weaknesses. Synthesizing means bringing together the best insights from different theories into a more complete, deeper understanding that better explains complex business phenomena than any single theory alone. This research employs a critical review and theoretical synthesis approach. Several key theories in business and management are examined in depth, systematically evaluated, and then synthesized into a more complete and balanced framework of understanding. The analysis focuses on uncovering implicit assumptions, comparing views across theories, exploring points of convergence and conflict, and developing new insights that address the weaknesses of previous theories. The research findings demonstrate that seemingly contradictory theories often explain different aspects of the same reality. Critical evaluation reveals that the weaknesses of one theory can often be complemented by the strengths of another. The theoretical synthesis produced a richer, more balanced, and more robust understanding of dynamic business phenomena. A Critical Theory Evaluation and Synthesis Framework, along with a step-by-step guide, was developed that researchers can use to examine, assess, and synthesize various theories in the fields of business and management.

Abstract

This study aims to deeply analyze the relationship between research independence and adherence to legal, ethical, and professional standards at the doctoral level, where supervisor supervision is minimal. Independent research is central to achieving doctoral competency, requiring the ability to responsibly plan, implement, and account for all stages of research without detailed direction. However, this independence is not unlimited; each research step is bound by a legal framework, research ethics norms, and scientific professionalism principles that guarantee the protection of subject rights, data accuracy, and the dignity of scientific work. This study employed a qualitative approach with a juridical normative analysis and an in-depth reflective case study. Data were collected through a review of laws and regulations, national and institutional research ethics guidelines, academic ethics literature, and a critical review of the implementation of independent research with minimal supervision. The analysis was conducted by exploring the normative basis of researcher independence, mapping points of legal and ethical compliance at each stage of the research, and formulating self-control mechanisms that serve as a substitute for detailed external supervision. The research findings demonstrate that research independence and adherence to legal and ethical standards are not mutually exclusive, but rather mutually reinforcing: the more independent a researcher is, the greater their legal and ethical responsibilities. Minimal oversight actually demands a strong sense of legal awareness, ethical integrity, and professional commitment within the researcher. It was also found that legal and ethical violations in independent research are more likely to occur not due to malicious intent, but rather due to ignorance of applicable regulations and weak self-control systems. A Framework for Independent Research Based on Legal, Ethical, and Professional Standards, along with a detailed compliance checklist, was developed to enable researchers to conduct research independently while ensuring compliance.
