Abstract

This study aims to analyze the economic value of the mangrove forest area in Tanjung Sungkai Village, Pulaulaut Tanjung Selayar District, Kotabaru Regency, using the Willingness to Pay (WTP) method. In this study, data were collected from 30 respondents who are residents around the mangrove forest. The analysis results show that the total community WTP for mangrove forest conservation reached IDR 1,845,000, with an average WTP per respondent of IDR 61,500. Although there is a willingness to pay, the proportion of respondents who are willing to pay a higher amount tends to be low, reflecting a lack of understanding of the economic and ecological value of mangrove forests. This study also found that there is no significant linear correlation between the economic value of mangrove forests and community income, with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.000560512.  This shows that other factors, such as education and environmental awareness, play an important role in determining the value perceived by the community towards mangrove forests. From the results of this study, it is hoped that it can contribute to the development of mangrove forest conservation policies and programs, as well as increase public awareness of the importance of mangrove forests for their social and economic lives.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the soil fertility level of the watershed rehabilitation area (DAS) in Asam Randah Village. Determination of the place of data sampling using purposive sampling, the use of purposive sampling techniques because not all samples have criteria that match the phenomenon under study. This research was carried out by soil fertility analysis with reference to the soil fertility table from the Bogor Soil Research Center, 1995. Knowing the level of soil fertility status requires analysis of KTK parameters, alkaline saturation, P2O5, K2O, and C-organic soil. Whole soil sampling is carried out at the soil surface of about 0-20 cm using a sample ring to analyze the physical properties of the soil (texture). Soil fertility status is categorized in medium, low, very low, and high classes determined by a combination of these parameter data. Based on the results of the laboratory analysis of soil texture, soil fertility in the Acid Randah Village Watershed Rehabilitation Area block IV has three soil fertility statuses, namely, low, medium, high assessment of land fertility status DAS Rehabilitation PT.Borneo Indobara Desa Asam Randah Blok IV fertility status is relatively low, low soil fertility occurs due to high rainfall in the area causing soil erosion, nutrient leaching and other biological conditions. The washing of nutrients causes the nutrients in the soil to decrease, this washing increases the concentration of hydrogen ions relative to alkaline ions, thus lowering the pH of the soil

Abstract

Carbon is a natural element that has the symbol “C” with an atomic value of 12. More than half of the carbon bound by trees is transported underground, where it powers complex underground food networks and contributes to the formation of soil organic matter (SOM). Measuring and estimating carbon stocks in independent oil palm plantations requires a rigorous scientific approach, taking into account factors such as soil type, plant age and agricultural practices. Biomass is the total amount of aboveground living organic matter in a tree expressed as oven dry tons per unit area. Soil organic carbon (C-organic) is the main component of soil organic matter which has an important role in maintaining soil quality and supporting agricultural productivity. The objectives of this research are: (1) analyzing the amount of biomass on independent oil palm land; (2) analyzing carbon stocks on independent oil palm plantations; and (3) analyzing the organic C content in independent palm oil. This research carried out data collection from 8 plots on independent oil palm land in Barito Kuala Regency, using plots measuring 20 m x 60 m. This research used primary data and secondary data. Secondary data is carried out (1) managing and preparing tools and materials; (2) analyzing regional maps of independent oil palm plantations in Barito Kuala Regency; (3) biomass measurement; and (4) collecting and measuring biomass. Secondary data is obtained from various information from related agencies. The results of the research show that the biomass produced by palm oil with an age class of > 1.3 years is an average of 4.7 tons/m2 with a total biomass of 28.4 tons/m2, while the average amount of biomass produced by palm oil with this class is age < 1.3 years as much as from undergrowth on oil palm land with an average of 0.005 tonnes/m2 with a total biomass of 0.019 tonnes/m2. Carbon reserves produced from oil palm stands with an age class of > 1.3 years average 23.8 tons/ha with a total carbon reserve produced of 143.1 tons/ha. Carbon reserves produced from oil palm stands with an age class of <1.3 years average 0.20 tons/ha with a total carbon reserve produced of 0.75 tons/ha. Carbon reserves produced from undergrowth on oil palm land average 18.85 tons/ha with a total carbon produced of 150 tons/ha. The soil organic C content that has been carried out by research and laboratory testing has resulted in an organic C content in Plot 2 of 6.44%, in plot 3 of 2.59%, in plot 4 of 6.26% and in plot 7.42 %.

Abstract

Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus pellita) is one of the priority forest plant types for the development of industrial Plantation Forest (HTI) programs. One of the concerns in the maintenance of eucalyptus is maintaining the health of seedling to ensure optimal growth. One way to produce high-quality seedlings is to improve the source of seedlings through nurseries. The research aims to analyse damage to eucalyptus seedlings, calculate the intensity of pest and disease attacks and the percentage of damage to eucalyptus seedlings. The method applied in this research is the scoring method by determining the attack value on eucalyptus seedlings. The result of this study show that the types of damage to eucalyptus seedlings are leaf spots, yellowing leaves, drying leaves, hollow leaves, stunted, dead and a combination of several damages. The intensity of pest and diseases attack of 41,46% indicates that seedlings are categorised as moderately damaged and the overall percentage of seedling damage is 100%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify and analyze the status of soil fertility levels in the Tropical Rainfall Park of Indonesia (TH2TI) Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan. Data from land units that became observation points, showed different land cover and area. Land unit 1 and land unit 3 with sengon land cover vegetation have an area of 0.49 ha and 0.43 ha respectively. Land unit 2 with jabon land cover vegetation has an area of 0.49 ha, and land unit 4 with mahogany land cover vegetation has an area of 1.00 ha. Soil fertility at the research site per land unit has a low level of soil fertility. The low soil fertility status at the research site is caused by low base saturation and the soil type which is dominated by yellow red podzolic soil, where this soil has relatively low fertility, then experiences leaching caused by high rainfall.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the quality of biopellets made from unproductive rubber sawdust and empty oil palm bunch waste including water content, density, ash content, volatile matter, bound carbon, calorific value and to find out which biopellet quality composition is best suited. SNI 8021:2014. The test results showed that the water content of all treatments met the standards, while other parameters (density, ash content, volatile matter, bound carbon) did not meet the standards. Meanwhile, for the calorific value, only treatment A (100% rubber wood) can meet the standard, where based on statistical tests this treatment is very significantly different from other treatments. These results show that biopellets made from 100% rubber wood are biopellets with the best treatment. The research results showed that biopellets consisted of composition A (100% rubber wood); composition B (75% rubber wood + 25% empty oil palm bunch); composition C (50% rubber wood + 50% empty oil palm bunch); composition D (25% rubber wood + 75% empty oil palm bunch); composition E (100% empty oil palm bunch), respectively water content values (7.99%; 7.89%; 7.09%; 7.09% ; 7.44%), density (0.32 g /cm3; 0.35 g/cm3; 0.33 g/cm3; 0.34 g/cm3; 0.39 g/cm3), ash content (1.60%; 2.17%; 2.11%; 2.70%; 4.12%), volatile matter (90.09%; 89.55%; 89.72%; 89.96%; 89.19%), bound carbon (8.23%; 8, 20%; 8.09%; 7.86%; 6.62%) and calorific value (4004.43 cal/g; 3961.25 calg; 3947.12 cal/g; 3867.85 cal/g; 3844, 75 cal/g).
