Abstract

In the current period characterised by heightened awareness of environmental sustainability and ethical consumerism, the fashion industry is undergoing a significant transformation as it embraces slow and circular fashion practices. This development has been very promising due to the environmental dangers associated with fast fashion. There are many factors that shape consumer preferences within the context of sustainable fashion. The emergence of slow fashion, which is defined by deliberate consumption and ethical manufacturing and circular fashion, prioritises closed-loop systems and responsible end-of-life practices, have presented an attractive and a new dimension of producing environmental-friendly fashion for consumers. Irrespective, of the global efforts in protecting the environment through the right choice of clothes, which is supported by the slow fashion paradigm, some people are still glued to fast fashion model without necessarily considering its associated impacts. This study examines the impact of slow and circular fashion on customers' clothing choices and their effects on the environment. Again, it underscores the psychological, social, economic, and environmental issues that influence the adoption of slow and circular fashion. Data were obtained via online questionnaire. The study revealed that the development of slow and circular fashion models among customers has been impeded due to a deficiency in proactive communication from various retailers who contribute to the sustainability mission.

Abstract

The hospitality industry is one of the fastest-growing industries compared to the other sectors of the global economy and it has become a competitive environment and drives the search for new ways and elements of efficient performance. Interior decoration deals with decorating a commercial business accord or a residential home to a customer's personal preferences and styles. Clients of hotels and guest houses choose to lodge at places where they consider interior designs with cultural interpretations. Adinkra symbols have distinct meanings for supporting and transmitting a complex nuanced body of practices and belief systems. A studio-based practice research method under the qualitative research approach was employed for this study to observe how hotel rooms were decorated in twenty-five (25) selected hotels in the Kumasi Metropolis, Ashanti Region, Ghana. The study found that a large number of hotels purchase foreign fabrics and already made artefacts to decorate their hotel interiors. The few hotels interior decorators who decorate their hotels with Adinkra symbols just use them with little or no consideration of their meanings. Six (6) products were produced by the researchers which were exhibited and used for the interior decoration of a hotel room. The study contends that hospitality industries in Kumasi must tactfully use cultural symbols in their interior decorations to boost their patronage.

Abstract

The Asante society depended on oral traditions to go through their activities until formal education was introduced. Asante oral literature had almost completely been overlooked and almost forgotten with the influence of globalization and western culture where people would be aliens in their own motherlands. Therefore, the purpose of the research is to fill the academic vacuum through this study for oral literature to serve its purpose fully in the Asante culture by giving attention it requires as a discipline of humanities. The study focused on qualitative case study and phenomenological study exploring the genres of Asante oral literature and provided viable and appealing ways for preserving and transmitting them to the modern generations to come. Snowballing under purposive sampling was employed with data collection instruments of questionnaires, interviews, focus groups and observation generated from 18 conveniently sampled respondents. The outcome of the study showed that oral tradition could be a hybrid of traditional writing, visual and audio methods on CDs and DVDs to enhance the preservation and also be shared on almost all social media platforms to inform people about the traditions and customs of the Asante land. The study recommends researchers consider new trends of packaging oral literature to suit users.

Abstract

Tourism is one of the important sectors in Indonesia which has a strategic role in increasing the country's foreign exchange. This is stated in Law Number 10 of 2009 concerning Tourism, which states that: the implementation of tourism is aimed at increasing national income in order to improve the welfare and prosperity of the people, expand and equalize business opportunities and employment opportunities, encourage regional development, introduce and utilize the tourism objects and attractiveness of tourism objects in Indonesia, as well as fostering a sense of love for the country and strengthening friendship between nations. Tourism activities can create demand for consumption and investment, which in turn will give rise to activities for the production of goods and services. So that developing tourism potential becomes one of the superior programs of regional governments, including North Morowali Regency. One of the roles of the government as an agent that accelerates the development of regional potential is to build and develop tourism potential. One concrete way of the regional government of North Morowali district in accelerating the development of regional potential in the tourism sector is by making derivative policies, namely North Morowali regional regulation No. 8 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Tourism, and North Morowali Regent's Regulation No. 24 of 2023 concerning implementing regulations for North Morowali regional regulations, regarding Tourism Implementation. To find out why the implementation of the Ungkea Beach tourism development policy at the North Morowali Regency Tourism Office was not effective, then researchers used the theory of Donald Van Metter and Carl Van Horn, to look at aspects (standards, measures of objectives and policies, resources, characteristics of implementing agents, attitudes/tendencies, communication between implementing organizations and implementing activities, and the economic, social and political environment). Data collection methods are carried out through observation, direct interviews and documentation. The informant selection technique uses a purposive technique. From the results of the implementation of the Ungkea Beach tourist attraction policy, it has not been effective. This is because there are still shortcomings in several aspects. Among them are the resources referred to in this case are human resources which are still limited, and secondly, financial and other supporting infrastructure in the process of implementing the policy for developing the Ungkea Beach tourist attraction at the North Morowali district Tourism Office.
