Abstract

The development of digital technology drives major changes in movie industry promotion, including in promotion and marketing patterns. Facing intense competition from other platforms, Netflix needs to integrate various communication channels to retain and attract customers, especially in promoting Squid Game Season 2. The problem in this research is how Netflix uses elements of marketing communication strategy in the process of promoting the Squid Game Season 2 series. This study aims to identify the marketing communication strategies used by Netflix in promoting the Squid Game Season 2 series. The method used in this research is a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data collection techniques include non-participatory observation, documentation, and literature study. The data were analyzed using the Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) theory. The results show that Netflix implemented marketing communication strategies through four elements: advertising via social media in the form of posters, teasers, trailers, cast reaction content, and the use of original soundtracks; sales promotion through collaborations with various well-known brands, the opening of pop-up stores, and the distribution of free merchandise; public relations through press conferences, exclusive interviews, and the organization of global events; and personal selling through meet and greet events between the cast and fans.

Abstract

The rapid development of social media, especially TikTok, has changed the way people access information and decide to buy products, including food products. Farida Nurhan, as a popular food vlogger on TikTok, is considered to have a strong influence on consumer purchasing interest through her expressive communication style and interesting content. This study aims to analyze the influence of Farida Nurhan's content and the role of social media on consumer purchasing interest. The method used is a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey technique through an online questionnaire to 100 respondents aged 18–35 years. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that both food vlogger content and the role of social media have a positive and significant influence on consumer purchasing interest, with a joint contribution of 43.3%. Farida Nurhan's content variable proved to be more dominant in influencing purchasing decisions. This finding strengthens the evidence that food vloggers act as effective persuasive communication agents in digital marketing. The practical implications of this study indicate that culinary industry players can utilize collaboration with food vloggers as a strategy to increase consumer visibility and purchasing interest in the digital era.

Abstract

The phenomenon of lavender marriage—a marriage between heterosexual and homosexual individuals based on social or cultural motives to maintain the image or fulfill family expectations—is a real challenge in family law practice in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the forms, motivations, and legal, social, and psychological implications of this practice. Using a qualitative approach with normative-sociological methods, data were obtained through interviews and literature studies which were then analyzed thematically. The findings show that although lavender marriage is administratively valid, this practice is contrary to the maqashid of marriage according to Islamic law and Law Number 1 of 1974, because it ignores the principles of honesty, the goal of building a family, and protection of partners and children. This study emphasizes the importance of a more adaptive regulatory response and social education to prevent the misuse of the institution of marriage as a tool for identity camouflage. This research contributes to the development of family law policies that are more responsive to contemporary social dynamics.

Abstract

This research examines transparency issues in the financial report management of Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) in Karimun Regency through a literature study approach. The research shows that BUMDs in Karimun Regency experienced a total absence of annual financial report publications in the 2023-2024 period, reflecting a serious deficit in accountability and governance. Analysis from various credible sources, including SINTA-indexed journal articles and institutional reports, identifies several main factors causing weak transparency, including: low commitment to implementing Good Corporate Governance principles, civil servant concurrent position practices that create conflicts of interest, and gaps between regulations and their implementation in the field. The research findings show that this absence of transparency has serious implications for the lack of public accountability, high risk of authority abuse, weakened oversight, and hindered achievement of BUMD objectives to contribute to the regional economy. The research recommends strengthening political commitment from local governments, optimizing the supervisory function of the Regional Parliament (DPRD), comprehensive implementation of Good Corporate Governance principles by BUMD management, utilization of information technology for report publication, and increasing the active role of civil society in public oversight.

Abstract

This study examines the legal impact of the policy on the confiscation of assets derived from corruption on human rights in Indonesia, focusing on property rights and the presumption of innocence. A qualitative approach is used, combining normative legal analysis with empirical case studies through observation and documentation of asset confiscation cases in Indonesia. The findings indicate that while asset confiscation is a key tool in fighting corruption, its implementation faces legal challenges that jeopardize citizens' constitutional rights. Issues include asset confiscation without a final court decision (inkracht) and inadequate legal protection for third parties acting in good faith. The study suggests the need for policy reforms to strengthen evidence mechanisms, improve transparency, ensure independent oversight, and offer clearer legal protections. These reforms are essential to balancing the fight against corruption with respect for human rights in Indonesia’s legal system. Further research should focus on empirical case examples and a broader theoretical discussion.

Abstract

Technological developments encourage MSMEs to adopt non-cash payments to improve competitiveness and consumer experience. This study analyzes the influence of technological, organizational, and environmental factors on the adoption of non-cash payment systems in MSMEs in Samarinda City. The research method used a sample of 130 MSME actors selected by random sampling. The results of the analysis show that all three factors have a positive effect on the adoption of non-cash payments. This finding emphasizes the importance of technological support, internal readiness of MSMEs, and external pressure in encouraging the transition to a cashless system. The practical implication is that MSMEs need to adapt to digital payment systems to improve business efficiency and support sustainability (paperless). Theoretically, this study strengthens the understanding of the determinants of digital innovation adoption in the MSME sector, while providing recommendations for business actors, government, and fintech providers in expanding the use of non-cash payments.

Abstract

This study analyzes the transformation of colonial education into an instrument of class resistance by Tan Malaka on the Senembah Maatschappij plantation, Deli (1919–1921). Using a micro-historical approach and triangulation of primary sources (Tan Malaka's autobiography, Leiden archives, Benih Merdeka newspaper) and secondary sources (historiography, critical pedagogy studies), this study reveals pedagogical strategies based on the synthesis of Marxist principles, especially the critique of capitalist exploitation and Islamic values ??of social justice ('adl). The results of the study show three mechanisms of curriculum decolonization: integration of teaching materials with structural realities (low wages, poenale sanctie), substitution of authoritarian teaching with reflective dialogue, and the elimination of physical punishment as resistance. The conflict with the plantation elite represents the dialectic of colonial hegemony (Ethical Politics) versus educational counter-hegemony. Multi-ethnic interactions in the classroom strengthen Tan Malaka's vision of internationalism which would later be realized in PARI (1927) and the Jakarta Manifesto (1945). This study contributes to the affirmation of education as a locus of resistance that is often neglected in Indonesian historiography, the synthesis of Islam-Marxism as a framework for epistemic decolonization, and the relevance of pedagogy based on socio-historical reality to dismantle contemporary inequality. Its practical implications offer a critical-transformative education model as a liberation praxis.

Abstract

The phenomenon of self-diagnosis has become increasingly prevalent among university students, particularly in Medan, Indonesia, where digital information is widely accessible. This study highlights the importance of investigating self-diagnosis practices among students in a local context characterised by diverse socio-cultural backgrounds and a high level of social media usage. The research aims to explore students’ perceptions, focusing on how self-diagnosis affects their mental health and the patterns of acceptance formed around it. A qualitative approach with a phenomenological method was employed, involving in-depth interviews with ten purposively selected students from public universities in Medan. Thematic coding was used to analyse the data, guided by Stuart Hall’s audience reception theory, categorising students into dominant, negotiation, and opposition groups. Findings reveal that students with dominant acceptance readily trust unverified online mental health content, while those in negotiation display partial acceptance with cautious evaluation, and the opposition group critically rejects such content in favour of professional consultation. The study contributes to the existing literature by integrating social and digital contexts in understanding self-diagnosis practices and proposes the development of educational interventions and policy recommendations to improve students' critical engagement with digital mental health information.
