Abstract

Nonverbal communication plays a strategic role in fostering effective interpersonal relationships, particularly in dynamic work environments such as the event organizer (EO) industry. This study is motivated by the limited research that specifically explores how nonverbal communication elements enhance coordination and team interaction quality in high-pressure EO settings. The primary aim of this research is to analyze the role of nonverbal communication in strengthening interpersonal relationships within the EO workplace and to identify the most influential nonverbal cues contributing to team effectiveness. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method at a selected EO company in Medan, Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. The study involved purposively selected participants, including supervisors, event coordinators, field staff, and liaison officers, based on their direct experience with team communication. The findings reveal that nonverbal elements such as facial expressions, eye contact, hand gestures, and body posture play crucial roles in conveying instructions, fostering team unity, and building trust among team members and with clients. However, challenges such as cultural differences in interpreting nonverbal cues and high work pressure sometimes hinder effective communication. The study concludes that nonverbal communication serves as a vital tool in creating cohesive teamwork and a harmonious working atmosphere in EO environments. Practically, this research implies the need for structured nonverbal communication training for EO staff to improve coordination and minimize misunderstandings. Academically, it contributes to the development of organizational communication studies and offers a foundation for future research in creative industries and other high-pressure work settings.

Abstract

This article aims to examine how the "I Love Me" movement utilizes social media to challenge conventional beauty standards and promote values of diversity and self-acceptance. The urgency of this research arises from significant issues faced by modern society, where social media often promotes beauty standards that are not only unrealistic but also exclusive and detrimental. These standards can potentially cause body image disorders and social anxiety, especially among teenagers and adults, making this research not only academically relevant but also crucial for public health and social policy. This research employs a qualitative approach with netnographic methods within a constructivist paradigm to understand the dynamics of communication and self-representation on social media related to the "I Love Me" movement. The study was conducted by collecting primary data through the social media analysis application Keyhole, which provides frequency, reach, and types of interactions related to the campaign or hashtag used by the movement. Secondary data were also gathered from various sources including books, scholarly articles, and media reports discussing beauty standards, the influence of social media, and related social movements. Data collection techniques include systematic media observation and documentation, and data analysis was performed using the methods of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, which involve data conditioning, categorization, and systematic conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the "I Love Me" movement has successfully created a dialogue that supports physical diversity and promotes mental health by challenging the dominant commercial and harmful beauty narratives. The movement demonstrates its effectiveness in leveraging social media to change beauty perceptions, reduce stress and pressure related to body image, and support self-acceptance and beauty in all forms.

Abstract

The Industrial Revolution 4.0 era demands digital transformation in various sectors, including the health sector. One form of innovation in health services is the digitalization of the BPJS Kesehatan program, which aims to improve the efficiency and quality of services in health facilities. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the use of BPJS program digitalization to improve the quality of services in facing the industrial revolution 4.0 era at Royal Prima Medan Hospital, as well as to identify obstacles faced in its implementation. The research method used is a qualitative study, where data was obtained through interviews with the hospital director, the head of the BPJS primary benefit guarantee division, and six patients using BPJS services. The results of this paper indicate that the use of BPJS digitalization at Royal Prima Medan Hospital has been running in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and has had a positive impact on the acceleration of the administrative process, queue efficiency, and patient data integration. However, there are still several obstacles, such as technical disruptions in the system, limited patient understanding of technology, and instability of the internet network, which can affect the effectiveness of services. To overcome these obstacles, the hospital has made various efforts, such as providing a help desk, improving digital infrastructure, and education for patients and medical personnel. Overall, the digitalization of the BPJS Kesehatan program at RSU Royal Prima Medan has proven effective in improving the quality of service, although further system optimization and innovation are still needed so that the implementation of this digitalization can run optimally in accordance with the demands of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.

Abstract

Customary land is land controlled by certain customary communities in areas spread throughout Indonesia. Customary land law is independent because the existing legal norms are living norms that are followed by sanctions and obeyed by the community and the relevant institutions. In the transfer of the function of customary land by the private sector to customary land, it certainly gives a negative response from the community. Maslahah mursalah becomes a source of law where the taking of the land is detrimental to the community, because all sources of life from customary land have provided prosperity, especially if the private sector builds oil palm plantations, the community loses the land that supports various lives. This study uses a normative type taken from library materials.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the crisis communication strategy of the X account @SehatAQUA in responding to the boycott issue triggered by the Israel–Palestine geopolitical controversy. The research applies the Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT) as a theoretical framework, using a qualitative case study approach. Observations were conducted on the @SehatAQUA account from March 24 to 29, 2025. The primary data analyzed consisted of 14 items: 5 negative public responses, 5 positive public responses, and 4 official posts or press releases from Aqua. Secondary data from news coverage and academic literature were used to strengthen the contextual interpretation. Data validity was ensured through source triangulation. The findings reveal that Aqua adopted a rebuild posture strategy as outlined in SCCT by delivering transparent clarifications, affirming political neutrality, debunking disinformation with UN-based data, collaborating with mainstream media, and promoting digital literacy. This strategy proved effective in shifting public sentiment from negative to more positive and reinforcing a humanitarian-based brand image. The study highlights the importance of a timely, data-driven, and values-oriented crisis communication response in addressing geopolitical pressure in the digital age.

Abstract

This study seeks to elucidate the management of religious moderation values development within the school context, particularly at MTs Yapdi, utilizing a qualitative methodology. This study primarily concentrates on four managerial dimensions: planning, organizing, implementing, and supervising. The employed research method is a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The study's findings demonstrate that the planning for the cultivation of religious moderation values is executed through the integration of religious activities, including congregational Dhuha prayers and tausyiah, alongside reinforcement within the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) initiatives. The organization is conducted by engaging various pertinent subjects, including PPKn, IPS, Akidah Akhlak, and Al-Qur'an Hadith, which embody values of tolerance, mutual respect, and appreciation of diversity. Activities are implemented using a contextual learning approach, both within and beyond the classroom, focusing on practical application in daily life. Supervision is conducted by evaluating students' attitudes and behaviors in the application of moderation values, rather than solely relying on academic metrics.

Abstract

Rebu is a traditional speech norm in the Karo community that prohibits direct face-to-face communication between in-laws of opposite genders and siblings-in-law. This norm plays a crucial role in maintaining respect, social harmony, and family hierarchy. However, modernization and changing lifestyles have influenced the understanding and practice of rebu, especially among the younger generation. This study employs a qualitative phenomenological approach to explore the meanings, perceptions, and implementation of rebu within the Karo community. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 15 informants from Naman Teran Village and validated using triangulation techniques. Findings indicate that rebu is still recognized as a vital cultural norm symbolizing respect and politeness. The younger generation generally understands the concept, though with more flexible interpretations. In young households, rebu is practiced with adaptations, such as the use of intermediaries or digital communication, to accommodate modern social contexts. Despite external influences of globalization and technology, the core values of rebu persist as a mechanism for maintaining family harmony and social order. Adaptation in practice reflects the community's efforts to balance tradition and modernity, ensuring the continuity of cultural identity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the communication strategy of the Public Relations Division of the Department of Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy of North Sumatra (Disbudparekraf Sumut) in promoting tourism through the DiSumutAja application. This research employs a qualitative phenomenological approach within a constructivist paradigm to understand user experiences and digital-based promotional strategies. The theoretical frameworks used are the Diffusion of Innovation Theory and Media Richness Theory to explore how this digital innovation is adopted and to evaluate the effectiveness of the communication media used. Data collection methods include semi-structured interviews with representatives from Disbudparekraf and app users, direct observation of the application's usage, and document analysis. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. The findings reveal that the DiSumutAja application has become an effective communication tool in delivering integrated information on tourist destinations, culture, and local events through social media. However, the application still faces challenges regarding user interactivity, limited two-way communication features, and minimal collaboration with the private sector. In conclusion, the use of the DiSumutAja application has enhanced the visibility of North Sumatra’s tourism, but optimization is needed by incorporating user feedback features, expanding collaborative networks with the private sector, and adopting more participatory and adaptive communication approaches. With these improvements, the application is expected to become a more inclusive, responsive, and sustainable tourism promotion platform in the digital era.

Abstract

Thematic Bureaucratic Reform was initiated to address the limited impact of previous reforms and to improve government effectiveness, efficiency, transparency, and accountability in tackling key issues, especially poverty alleviation. This study examines the implementation stages of the reform in the poverty alleviation focus area within the buffer zone of the Nusantara Capital City and identifies inhibiting factors. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, involving three stages: description, reduction, and selection. Data were gathered through interviews, observations, and focus group discussions. The findings show that local governments have initiated programs that help raise incomes and lower community expenses, contributing positively to poverty reduction efforts. However, technical and operational challenges—such as coordination gaps and limited resources—still hinder progress. The study underscores the need for strengthened implementation strategies and policy alignment to meet poverty reduction targets by 2024.
