Abstract

PT. Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) continues to strengthen the people's economy by empowering MSME customers fostered by PNM Mekaar. Financing provided by PNM Mekaar is distributed in groups from the beginning, agreed upon by each member. This research was conducted at Medan City. This research was conducted to determine and analyze the implementation of the joint liability financing system on customers, the socio-economic impacts experienced by customers related to the implementation of the joint liability financing system, as well as the perspective of Islamic economics on the impact of the joint liability financing system on PNM Mekaar Medan City customers. The approach in this research applies descriptive qualitative research using primary and secondary data. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation with data analysis using the Miles and Huberman model. The results of the study show that: 1). The implementation of the joint liability financing system on PNM Mekaar Medan City customers shows that this mechanism does not only function as a financial instrument, but also as a means of strengthening solidarity, togetherness and collective responsibility among group members. 2). The socio-economic impacts experienced by customers related to the implementation of the PNM Mekaar Medan City joint financing system show the benefits and challenges directly felt by group members. This system has been proven to encourage increased business capital, increased income and improved family economic conditions through the sustainability of more stable micro-business activities. In addition, the group-based mechanism is able to strengthen solidarity, togetherness, discipline and collective responsibility among members, as well as open up opportunities for business independence that were previously difficult to achieve. 3). The Islamic economic perspective on the impact of the joint financing system on PNM Mekaar Medan City customers can be seen as aligned with Islamic principles because it emphasizes the values of justice, togetherness, transparency of contracts, prohibition of usury, freedom from coercion and the application of the principle of ta'?wun (mutual assistance).

Abstract

Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires cross-sector collaboration, including in zakat management. BAZNAS North Sumatra Province is strategically positioned to support the achievement of SDGs 1, 4, and 8 through a productive zakat program. However, reporting practices that still emphasize financial output aspects make measuring social impact less than optimal. Examining the role of BAZNAS North Sumatra Province in encouraging the achievement of SDGs through the implementation of social impact-based zakat accounting, with a focus on the effectiveness of business capital assistance programs and assistance in completing student final assignments. This study uses a descriptive-explanatory design with a mixed methods approach. Qualitative data were collected through interviews, observations, and document reviews, while quantitative data were analyzed using the Social Return on Investment (SROI) framework on 54 beneficiary respondents. The business capital assistance program increased the average income of mustahik by 20.58% with an SROI ratio of 1:2.83, and encouraged independence and self-confidence. Meanwhile, the thesis completion assistance program accelerated graduation, enabled 100% of its recipients to obtain employment, and achieved an SROI ratio of 1:7.87. Both programs significantly contribute to the achievement of SDGs 1, 4, and 8. This research combines the application of social impact-based zakat accounting with quantitative SROI measurements at the provincial BAZNAS level. The results provide empirical evidence of zakat's role in supporting the SDGs and offer an outcome-based evaluation model with potential adaptation in other regions.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the mediating role of psychological well-being (PWB) in the relationship between perceived organizational support (POS) and work engagement (WE) among public sector employees. A total of 406 respondents were drawn from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan staff across Indonesia. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results reveal that POS significantly and positively affects both PWB and WE, while PWB has a dominant effect on WE. Mediation analysis confirms that PWB significantly mediates the effect of POS on WE, indicating that organizational support influences engagement more strongly when it enhances employees’ psychological well-being. Multi-group analysis further shows differing mechanisms between structural and non-structural positions: for structural employees, PWB serves as the primary pathway, whereas for non-structural employees, POS has a more direct effect on WE. These findings emphasize the importance of organizational support that fosters psychological well-being to strengthen work engagement, while also contributing to theoretical development of engagement within Indonesia’s public sector context.

Abstract

This study examines the shift in socio-religious values in the practice of same-clan marriage in Bunut Village, Torgamba Subdistrict. Traditionally, such marriages were considered taboo due to their violation of Mandailing customary norms, which uphold the principle of *partuturon* (lineage). However, over time and with the growing influence of religion and the changing perspectives of the younger generation, this prohibition has become more relaxed. Factors such as education, social environment, and a more inclusive religious understanding have influenced the community in reinterpreting customary rules once seen as absolute. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, conducted through fieldwork in Bunut Village, Torgamba. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, with validity ensured through source triangulation. Analysis was carried out through data reduction, thematic presentation, and conclusion drawing to understand the shift in customary and religious values in the practice of same-clan marriage. The findings show that the practice of same-clan marriage in Bunut Village has undergone a significant socio-religious value shift. Customary prohibitions, once viewed as sacred, are now interpreted more loosely, especially by the younger generation who are more educated, information-literate, and possess a contextual religious perspective. Custom is no longer an absolute boundary in choosing a partner, but rather a relative consideration. Marital harmony, love, and religious legitimacy have become the primary priorities. This transformation reflects the emergence of a new social reality that is more rational, adaptive, and flexible in response to contemporary change.

Abstract

The skincare industry has experienced rapid growth in line with increasing public awareness of the importance of skin care, particularly among younger generations. Skintific, a skincare brand based on dermatological research, faces intense competition, making it essential to understand the factors that influence consumer purchase decisions. This study aims to examine the effect of Word of Mouth (WOM), customer experience, and perceived risk on purchase decisions for Skintific products. A quantitative approach was employed, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to consumers who had previously used Skintific products. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to test the hypotheses. The results indicate that WOM, customer experience, and perceived risk have a positive and significant influence on purchase decisions, both individually and collectively. These findings suggest that positive WOM, satisfying customer experiences, and effective management of rerceived risk are crucial strategies to encourage consumer interest and purchasing decisions. The practical implications of this research highlight the need for Skintific to strengthen testimonial-based communication, improve the quality of customer interactions, and provide comprehensive product education to reduce consumer concerns.

Abstract

This study maps the use of faculty publications in undergraduate theses at the Department of Library Science, UINSU, during 2019–2024. A sample of 50 undergraduate theses from the institutional Publish or Perish was analyzed at the reference-entry level, while faculty works were identified via Google Scholar/SINTA. Descriptive statistics and bibliometric visualizations (network, overlay, and density) were produced using VOSviewer. The results show that, out of 1,634 references, only 8 citations to faculty works were found across 6 undergraduate theses (approximately 0.48%). The maps indicate fragmented connections, a strong reliance on external sources, and the absence of a cohesive citation cluster centered on internal faculty publications. These findings suggest low visibility and uptake of faculty works in student writing. Implications include a relevance-based minimum citation policy (e.g., at least 1–2 appropriate faculty citations per thesis), curated topical reading lists of faculty publications, ongoing information-literacy and reference-management training, and improved digital visibility through optimized Google Scholar/SINTA profiles and institutional repository presence.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of green accounting as a strategy to increase profitability in Arang Mutiara Hitam, a micro-enterprise engaged in coconut shell charcoal production. The research uses a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings indicate that the business owner has practiced environmental and social responsibility by providing compensation to surrounding communities, yet environmental costs have not been systematically recorded in financial reports. As a result, recurring environmental expenditures are not identified as factors affecting business profit, making it difficult for the owner to conduct comprehensive financial evaluations. These findings highlight the importance of green accounting to improve transparency, cost efficiency, and long-term profitability. The study also supports existing theories and prior research asserting that environmental accounting promotes sustainability and strengthens the financial performance of micro-enterprises.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the form of cooperation between ustadzah and parents in guiding the worship education and morals of students at Al-Haziq Qur'an House in Batang Kuis. The focus of the problem is how the form of cooperation between ustadzah and parents in guiding the worship and moral education of students, what are the factors that influence it (supporting and inhibiting factors), and how the impact of this cooperation on the worship and moral education of students. The research used descriptive qualitative methods with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses the theory of Miles and Huberman with data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the form of cooperation was realized in routine communication through WhatsApp groups, mutaba'ah books, and santri guardian meetings, worship assistance at home, and parental involvement in institutional activities. Supporting factors include a common vision of education, exemplary ustadzah and parents, and the use of digital media. The inhibiting factors found are the limited time of parents due to their busy work schedules, the lack of two-way communication, and the tendency of some parents to leave full guidance to the ustadzah. Good cooperation has a positive impact on the discipline of worship, the fluency of memorization, and the formation of santri morals, while the lack of parental support causes the development of the students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze trends in adolescent learning styles at MAN 1 Medan, specifically the phenomenon of cramming (SKS), and its impact on learning outcomes. Unlike previous studies that focused solely on pre-exam behavior, this study positions the SKS as a reflection of changes in adolescent learning culture in the digital era. Using a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis methods, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, involving the vice principal, teachers, students, and parents as informants. The results indicate that the SKS learning style emerges as a result of the dominance of extrinsic motivation, academic pressure, the influence of digital technology, and poor student time management. This learning style is instantaneous, situational, and short-term oriented, with a tendency toward quick memorization rather than a deep understanding of concepts. The impact not only reduces the stability of academic achievement but also causes physical fatigue, psychological stress, and low long-term learning motivation. These findings highlight the urgent role of teachers and parents in fostering intrinsic motivation and more disciplined and sustainable reflective learning habits. This study provides a theoretical contribution to enriching the study of learning styles in the digital era, while also offering practical recommendations for more adaptive and preventative learning strategies against the culture of instant learning.
