Abstract

This study aims to analyze the servant leadership of madrasah heads in improving teacher performance at Al-Washliyah Private Aliyah Madrasah, Medan Area District, Medan City. This study uses a qualitative approach with case studies to explore the leadership role of madrasah heads in improving teacher performance. This study used 9 informants as primary data that were selected purposively. Data were collected through non-participant observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation studies. The validity of the data is maintained by triangulation techniques, comparing data from interviews, observations, and documentation to ensure the validity and accuracy of the findings. The results of this study show that the decline in teacher performance at the Al-Washliyah Private Aliyah Madrasah Medan Area is caused by the leadership crisis of the madrasah head, which can be seen from the physical and emotional absence of the madrasah head, lack of supervision, and hampered communication. The absence of consistent evaluation and reward also reduces teachers' motivation and self-efficacy, as well as affects their professional and spiritual development. The application of servant leadership by the head of the madrasah is very relevant and effective to overcome this problem, because the concept emphasizes the leader as a servant who listens, provides support, and facilitates teacher development. By applying principles such as empathy, collaboration, and recognition, madrasah heads can create a positive work climate and support teacher performance improvement. Supporting factors in improving teacher performance include humanist and visionary leadership, as well as fostering supervision and evaluation, while the main inhibiting factors are passive, bureaucratic leadership styles, lack of communication, and lack of consistent rewards.

Abstract

This study investigates the effects of Self-Service Technology (SST) and Application Features on user satisfaction in using BSI Mobile banking among students at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra. Employing a quantitative approach with associative analysis, the study utilized purposive sampling to select 100 respondents from a population of 23,671 students. Data were collected via an online questionnaire using Google Forms and analyzed with SPSS Version 25. The results indicate that both SST and Application Features partially have a positive and significant effect on user satisfaction. Simultaneously, SST and Application Features together significantly influence user satisfaction. The coefficient of determination (Adjusted R²) is 0.548, indicating that 54% of the variance in user satisfaction can be explained by SST and Application Features, while 46% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study. These findings provide practical insights for BSI to enhance mobile banking satisfaction by improving both technological aspects and application functionalities.

Abstract

This study examines how intellectual capital and financial performance affect firm value in Indonesian manufacturing companies listed on IDX (2012-2016). Using path analysis on 35 observations from seven companies, we investigated causal relationships among variables. Results show intellectual capital does not significantly influence financial performance (ROE) or firm value (PBV). However, financial performance positively impacts firm value. Financial performance also does not mediate the intellectual capital-firm value relationship. These findings suggest investors should prioritize financial performance indicators in investment decisions, while intellectual capital's role may require alternative measurement approaches.

Abstract

As servants of God entrusted with shepherding a congregation willing to serve, God calls us to fulfill the calling of proclaiming the good news (the Gospel) throughout the world. This message can be conveyed through words and deeds visible to the world, as a witness to them. This demonstrates that servants must be truly submissive to Christ, the owner of the Church. Anyone who claims to be a servant but teaches deviant teachings, disrupts the unity of the congregation, and fails to strengthen the faith of its members is not a servant of Christ, but rather a servant seeking to satisfy their own desires. This includes ensuring a match between the congregation's expectations and the experience gained from the services provided by the organization. If the congregation perceives that the service meets or even exceeds their expectations, then congregation satisfaction will be achieved. Therefore, conclusions can be drawn based on the dimensions of GKPS Pastor Service Quality and Congregation Satisfaction: Tangible Evidence, Reliability, Responsiveness, Assurance, and Empathy. To determine congregation satisfaction, we need to understand the quality of GKPS pastor service.

Abstract

The increasing complexity of banking operations has increased the risk of fraud, leading to significant financial and reputational losses for financial services institutions (FSIs) in Indonesia. Strengthening internal control systems and implementing comprehensive anti-fraud strategies are crucial, particularly in line with the Financial Services Authority Regulation (POJK) No. 12/2024. This study aims to analyze and develop an anti-fraud strategy model at PT Bank Sumut that is aligned with regulatory provisions and responsive to emerging fraud risks. Using a qualitative descriptive-exploratory approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with key informants, including anti-fraud unit staff, internal auditors, risk management officers, and compliance officers, complemented by secondary data from policy documents, audit reports, and financial publications. The findings indicate that PT Bank Sumut has implemented anti-fraud strategies based on four pillars: prevention, detection, response, and monitoring-evaluation. Prevention is carried out through stricter Know Your Employee (KYE)/Know Your Customer (KYC) policies, anti-fraud training, and cultivating an integrity-based culture. Detection involves optimizing the whistleblowing system, conducting forensic audits, and using machine learning technology. Response strategies include investigation of SOPs, disciplinary sanctions, and coordination with regulators, while monitoring and evaluation focuses on periodic reviews and benchmarking with best practices. However, challenges remain, particularly in organizational culture and technology adoption. This study proposes an integrated anti-fraud model emphasizing proactive, risk-based, and technology-driven approaches. The model contributes theoretically by expanding the literature on risk management and governance in the banking sector, and practically by offering recommendations for banks and regulators to strengthen fraud prevention mechanisms, enhance public trust, and support financial system stability.

Abstract

This paper analyses forms of visual contents and their meanings from the perspective of a material cultural perspective to understand social media within the specifics of Indonesian contexts. Using intertextual theory, this study explores visual contents as artifacts and examines their meanings. The data collected through Twitter’s search functions (API) concerns the case of the Omnibus Law in Indonesia. The period of study ran from October to November 2020, when disputes between the pro-and anti- positions of controversy reached their peaks. The study concludes that specific historical, cultural, and social contexts exercise a significant influence on the preference of forms of visual contents; but when thinking about how messages are embedded in forms and conveyed to recipients, the choice of visual form is mainly dictated by ideological leanings, namely progressivism or conservatism.

Abstract

The rise of digital technologies has reshaped urban mobility and consumption patterns, with app-based transport services such as Gojek functioning not only as practical solutions but also as cultural symbols for the urban middle and upper classes. This study employs Roland Barthes’s semiotic framework to examine how the GoCar Luxe (2023) advertisement constructs an urban lifestyle narrative through visual and verbal signs. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the analysis identifies denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings embedded in the advertisement. The findings reveal that symbolic representations reinforce values of comfort, exclusivity, and efficiency as central to contemporary urban discourse. By unpacking these semiotic layers, the study highlights how digital advertising mediates cultural identity and legitimizes lifestyle aspirations, offering insights for communication and advertising studies on the interplay between media texts, cultural representation, and urban consumer values.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Word of Mouth, Direct Marketing, and Digital Marketing on Brand Awareness through Event Marketing as a mediating variable. The research employs a quantitative approach with survey methods involving 505 respondents. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The findings indicate that all paths in the model are statistically significant. Word of Mouth, Direct Marketing, and Digital Marketing each have a significant direct effect on Event Marketing and Brand Awareness. Moreover, Event Marketing significantly mediates the relationship between the three independent variables and Brand Awareness. These results highlight the importance of integrating communication strategies to effectively build brand awareness through interactive and experiential channels.
