Abstract

This research explores sensitivity in social interactions and communication with individuals with disabilities, using a systematic literature review approach. The aim was to understand how sensitivity is applied and understood in the context of disability, as well as the impact of a lack of sensitivity on the quality of life and social participation of individuals with disabilities. Findings from the literature review suggest that high sensitivity to the needs of individuals with disabilities correlates with greater feelings of inclusion and better-quality interpersonal relationships. Factors such as education and awareness, personal experience, social support, and community attitudes play an important role in shaping the level of sensitivity. Lack of sensitivity can lead to social isolation, reinforce stigma and discrimination, and negatively impact the psychological well-being and accessibility of individuals with disabilities. This research contributes to the development of a more inclusive theory of communication and provides practical recommendations for improving sensitivity in social interactions. Practical implications include developing education and training programs, increasing social support, implementing inclusive policies, creating a supportive environment, and promoting public awareness. Further research is needed to deepen understanding of the factors that influence sensitivity and test the effectiveness of interventions designed to increase sensitivity towards individuals with disabilities.

Abstract

The Russia-Ukraine conflict has significantly impacted Indonesian commodity stocks, as revealed by a comprehensive literature review. The conflict has introduced volatility in global markets, directly affecting Indonesian stock commodity-based prices, exchange rates, and investor sentiment. While initial commodity price rises benefited Indonesian stocks, persistent volatility and market interconnectedness pose challenges. This paper employs a systematic literature review methodology, collecting, synthesizing, and analyzing numerous papers published in the last decade on a variety of topics closely related to volatility transmission issues. Based on our review of twenty-seven articles, the result of this paper's analysis underscores the importance of diversifying investments and enhancing resilience against global disruptions. The GARCH models and the Geopolitical Risk Index further emphasize Indonesian commodity stocks' susceptibility to global price fluctuations and geopolitical risks. The research concludes that the Russia-Ukraine conflict has far-reaching consequences for Indonesian stock commodity-based markets, underscoring the need for risk mitigation strategies and enhanced resilience against future geopolitical shocks.

Abstract

Online gambling has rapidly become a pervasive issue in Indonesia, fueled by increased internet access and the widespread use of smartphones. This policy brief provides a comprehensive analysis of the social, economic, and legal impacts of online gambling in Indonesia, while offering actionable policy recommendations to mitigate its negative effects. This research synthesizes findings from six key studies and integrates insights from thematic analysis conducted through stakeholder interviews, including perspectives from psychologists, legal experts, law enforcement officials, and community leaders. The analysis highlights significant mental health challenges associated with online gambling, particularly among teenagers and family leaders, such as increased stress, anxiety, and family disintegration. Economically, online gambling leads to financial ruin for many families, resulting in debt accumulation, loss of assets, and broader community-level economic instability. Legally, the study identifies critical gaps in Indonesia's regulatory framework, which struggles to address the complexities of online gambling in the digital era. The findings underscore the need for comprehensive policy interventions, including updates to legal frameworks, enhanced law enforcement capabilities, public education initiatives, and community-based support systems. By implementing these strategies, Indonesia can more effectively combat the negative impacts of online gambling, protect vulnerable populations, and promote a healthier, more secure society.

Abstract

The education sector is a linchpin of national development, and the financial well-being of educators is a vital component. As college instructors approach the end of their careers, feeling financially secure becomes a critical part of their long-term planning. Their stories and experiences are of profound importance; they have dedicated their lives to teaching and shaping future generations. Understanding what helps or hinders their financial confidence can help create better support systems, ensuring they enjoy a comfortable and secure retirement. College instructors, who dedicate their careers to shaping the minds of future generations, often face unique financial challenges. This study aims to explore the factors contributing to the financial retirement confidence of college instructors at a state university in Cebu, Philippines. Using a qualitative phenomenology approach, interviews were conducted with college instructors aged 57 to 65. The findings revealed that higher pension amounts and fewer dependents significantly boost retirement confidence, while financial obligations pose barriers. Themes like financial management, investments, professional development, and health investment were identified as crucial components for retirement security. The study concludes that comprehensive financial planning, including increased pension benefits and financial literacy programs, can enhance retirement confidence. It recommends that institutions support instructors through resources and programs for effective retirement planning. These findings contribute to understanding the multifaceted nature of retirement confidence and provide a foundation for further research across different educational settings.
