Abstract

The management of forest honey in Nanga Lauk Village is still carried out modestly by the local community. The honeycomb tree is a tree that is tall, big, and sturdy with wide branches that bees naturally nest in. Forest honey belongs to the Apis dorsata forest bee which is the most productive honey bee in producing honey. This study aims to examine the way on how the management of forest honey in Nanga Lauk Village, Embaloh Hilir District, Kapuas Hulu Regency. A survey method with observation and interview techniques is employed in this study. Interviews were conducted with people who own the honeycomb trees. Respondents were selected using a census technique based on ownership of honeycomb trees. The data are obtained from respondents who own honeycomb trees with a total of 10 groups that have been studied. Based on the qualitative descriptive analysis, the Nanga Lauk Village community has carried out traditional honey management in groups for generations starting from forest area maintenance, forest honey harvesting, packaging, and marketing. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the management of forest honey in Nanga Lauk Village still uses honeycomb trees which have been applied from generation to generation. This is one of the values to maintain and preserve the existence of forest honey bees in Nanga Lauk Village.Keywords: forest honey, Nanga Lauk Village, ownership of honeycomb trees, honey processing Abstrak Pengelolaan madu hutan di Desa Nanga Lauk masih dilakukan secara sederhana oleh masyarakat setempat. Pohon sarang lalau adalah pohon yang tinggi dan besar serta kokoh dan memiliki dahan lebar yang dihinggapi lebah untuk bersarang secara alami. Madu lalau berasal dari lebah hutan Apis dorsata yang merupakan lebah madu yang paling produktif dalam penghasil madu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji bentuk pengelolaan madu hutan di Desa Nanga Lauk, Kecamatan Embalaoh Hilir, Kabupaten Kapuas Hulu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survey dengan teknik observasi dan wawancara. Wawancara dilakukan terhadap masyarakat yang memiliki pohon sarang lalau. Pemilihan responden dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik sensus berdasarkan kepemilikan pohon sarang lalau. Penelitian ini memperoleh data dari responden yang memiliki pohon sarang madu sendiri dengan jumlah 10 kelompok yang telah diteliti. Berdasarkan analisis diskriptif kualitatif,  pengelolaan madu lalau dilakukan oleh Masyarakat Desa Nanga Lauk secara tradisional, turun temurun dan berkelompok mulai dari pemeliharaan kawasan hutan, pemanenan madu hutan, pengemasan dan pemasaran. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengelolaan madu hutan di Desa Nanga Lauk masih menggunakan pohon sarang lalau yang diterapkan secara turun-temurun. Hal ini merupakan salah satu nilai untuk mempertahankan dan melestarikan keberadaan lebah madu hutan yang ada di Desa Nanga Lauk. Abstract

The research aimed to evaluate the effect of particle size and adhesives on the quality of biopelet from oil palm trunk. The adhesives used were tapioca and sago. The particle size were pass 10 mesh and retained 20 mesh; pass 20 mesh and retained 40 mesh; pass 40 mesh and retained 60 mesh; and pass 60 mesh. Biopelet was made by meat mincer in home scale and resulted the biopelet with size 2 cm long and diameter 0.4 cm.  Biopelet then dry in oven for 24 hour with temperature 600C-700C. The quality of biopelet was evaluate with SNI 8021 : 2014. Result of the research showed that average value of moisture content were 5.27%-6.75% ; average value of ash content 4.69%-8.73%; average of volatile matter content were 72.62%-77.46% ; average value of fixed carbon were 14.02%-21.60%; average value of calor were 3719,67 cal/g-4451,67 cal/g. The quality of biopelet can fulfill the requirement standard of SNI 8021 : 2014, except on ash content. The best result was on particle with size pass 10 mesh and retained 20 mesh with adhesives tapioca. Keyword: Biopelet, bioenergy, sago, tapioca

Abstract

Bats are very important for the ecosystem including for pollination as well as the spread of plants. Forest clearing for plantation becomes a threat to bats to fine food in fruits trees, specially frugivorous bats (Pteropodidae). The aim of this study is to determine the species diversity of frugivorous bats (Pteropodidae) in the area of Thang Raya Cave in Subdistrict of Beduai Sanggau Regency West Kalimantan, and the results of this study are expected to provide information about the types of frugivorous bats (Pteropodidae) that can be used in ecosystem management in the region of Thang Raya Cave. This research used the catch and release method with mist nets as many as 6 pieces. This mist nets were placed purposively at three research sites namely at the around of watershed, fruit trees and Thang raya Cave. The bats caught were measured, identified and tagged and then released. From the analysis, it is known the bats caught were as many as 31 individuals belonging to one family and two species of bat, were Rosettus amplexicaudatus and cynopterus horsfieldi with the number of individual 24 males and 7 femakes. The highest dominance indeks of bats found in the around of the Thnag Raya Café was (1,00), the indeks  of highest species diversity was found at of fruit trees (0,23), the evenness index was the highest at of fruit trees (0,76), the index of species richness was the highest at of fruit trees (1,05), and the similarty index was the highest at between the fruit trees and Thang Raya Cave (0,82). Abstract

The research was conducted at Princess Beach tourist area in the district Serayi South Jawai Sambas district, for 2 (two) weeks from the date field effective December 20, 2012 to complete. This research aims to obtain data on the assessment of the potential attraction located in the District Serayi Princess Beach Tourism South Jawai Sambas district for the development of tourism in the area. The benefit of this study is to provide information about the potential that can be used as a tourist attraction in the area contained Serayi Princess Beach tourist area. Based on calculations of the entire acreage acquired attractiveness criteria 129.82 value obtained by summing each - each element are such natural beauty, unique natural resources, natural resources stand, the integrity of natural resources, natural resource sensitivity, choice recreational activities, air cleanliness and location, and the movement of visitors. Then compared with the value of the existing classification of elements based Weighted Value of the development area attraction beach serayi daughter has enough appeal areas (C) to be developed into a natural tourist attraction. Abstract

There is a complex vegetation structure that creates a different living environment and has its diverse plant species, habitat of plants in tropical rain forest is one of them. This forest has its rich in terms of flora species in Indonesia, one of them is Nepenthes spp. Nepenthes spp. is a unique plant that grows in forests. Its diverse colors and forms make it as an ornamental plant with high economic value. The aim of this study is to determine the variety of Nepenthes spp. and to assure the condition of the place where it grows in natural forest. This research was conducted by using field survey method, with multiple plot. Plot placement on the field was done with purposive sampling. Based on results of the research of secondary forest it is found three types of Nepenthes spp. The species found in this secondary forest are Nepenthes mirabilis Druce, Nepenthes ampullaria Jack and Nepenthes reinwardtiana Miq. These 3 species found with each density of 318, 89 and 636 m/ha, each dominance index is <1. The micro climate ranges result on the habitat are, the air temperature: 16.67 0C - 24,67 0C, humidity: 65,33% - 70,33%, soil temperature: 250C - 26,6 0C, soil moisture: 30% - 34,33% and light intensity: 25,94 Lux- 32,94 Lux.Keywords: Diversity of nepenthes, Gunung Selindung, habitat, nepenthes.

Abstract

Gunung Naning Protection  Forest (GNPF) were used by some Meragun Villagers as a source of livelihood. The aim of the research are to know the awareness level of  Meragun villagers and  the factors which have the relationship with the people awareness level  toward the GNPF. The research was done in October 2014. The survey method was used in this research. The data analysis was used descriptively  by using Chi-Kuadrat toward  87 respondents which was obtained purposively. The research result showed that  48 % of Meragun Villagers have the high level of awareness toward GNPF, 38 % was moderate, and 14 % was low. It was because of the existence of the awareness about the importance of  GNPF role for their life. But some people still depend their life to the forest products and live in the area of  GNPF. Age factor and knowledge factor have the relationship toward the awareness level with the moderate firmness level, meanwhile the peception factor has the relationship with the high firmness level. For the keeping, protecting, and conserving GNPF necessary make the regulation of forest product harvesting. It will to sustainable the forest product from GNPF. Abstract

This research aimed to obtain a dose of Trichoderma sp. and manure that effective on the growth of Acacia seedlings in Ultisol soil. The research design was a Factorial Complete Random Design that is consisting of 2 (two) factors which are dose of Trichoderma sp. and dose of cow manure. Dosage of Trichoderma sp. consisting of: 0 gr/polybag (T0), 5 gr/polybag (T1), 10 gr/polybag (T2), and 15 gr/polybag (T3). Dosage of cow manure consisting of: 0 gr/polybag (K0), 50 gr/polybag (K1), 100 gr/polybag (K2), and 150 gr/polybag (K3). Each treatment was repeated 3 (three) times so that the total amount of treatment was 48 seedlings. The parameters observed were the height and diameter of the seedlings carried out for 2 (two) months at the Silviculture Laboratory of Forestry Faculty, Tanjungpura University.  The result showed the dose of Trichoderma sp., manure and its interaction had no significant effect on the growth of seedlings height. Dose of Trichoderma sp. was very significant effect on the growth of seedlings diameter, while manure and its interaction have no real effect. The best dose for seedlings diameter growth is T3K2 treatment (dosage 45 gram Trichoderma sp. and 100-gram cow manure). Keywords: Acacia mangium, Manure, Trichoderma sp.

Abstract

In 2012 a studi was conducted on the potential of Nyamplung in Ketapang and North Kayong Regencies, which stated that there were 219 trees of nyamplung potential in the coastal area of Tambak Rawang, North Kayong Regency. The next problem is how the nyamplung plant distribution conditions after seven years latter, whether there is a decrease or increase in population of nyamplung at Tambak Rawang coastal area, Sukadana District, Kayong Utara Regency. The purpose of this study is to examine the potential of nyamplung (Calophyllum inophyllum) in the coastal area of Tambak Rawang, Sukadana District, Kayong Utara Regency. This research was conducted at Tambak Rawang beach, Sukadana District, Kayong Utara Regency, West Kalimantan Province for approximately ± 1 month. Data collection techniques are carried out by the census of all nyamplung (C. inophyllum) trees found at the coastal area. Observations for seedling level were conducted by making 2 x 2 m plots placed by purposive sampling or deliberately at locations where there were many nyamplung seedlings at the observation site. Observation results show that there were 238 nyamplung trees found at the Tambak Rawang coastal area. The average number of primary, secondary and tertiary branches in the nyamplung tree are ± 5.18, ± 36.29 and ± 424.29 branches, respectively. Production of the weight of fruit in each tree is  ± 5.827 tons per fruit season. The number of nyamplung tree seedlings was found 6771 seedlings around the bottom of the nyamplung tree.Keyword : Coastal area, Kayong Utara, nyamplung (Callophyllum inophyllum), potency

Abstract

This research was conducted in IUPHHK-HA PT. Kalimantan Satya Kencana, it aims to have the percentation of the damaged residual stands after the harvesting, and it also aims to determine the relationship between the (LBDS) of harvesting trees. This research is done an 9 plots with the 100 x 100 m2 size, and its place with the methods called line plot sampling with random start. The damage of the resudual stand of seedling is 26.39%, sapling 27.98% ,pole 26.34%, and tree 20.77%. The damage level of the residual stand is catagorized in heavy (70.63%, 37.07%), medium (17.81%, 38.23), and low (11.56%; 24.70 ). The relationship between the harvested trees LBDS and the damaged residual trees shows a highly significant and positively correlated. More larger of the trees LBDS then the damage will be higher. Abstract

Sungai Nilam village at Jawai Subdistrict of Sambas Regency has high potential of nature, such as forest products (timber) and non-timber forest products such as rattan, bamboo, honey and others. The forest has been the source of the community, because community a lot of activity in the forest such as rattan, bamboo and other activities. But the Illegal logging activity has indirectly damaging natural resources at Sungai Nilam village the forest. The purpose of study was to determine the attitude of the community in Sungai Nilam Village against illegal logging in their village and to determine the relationship of each of these factors: perception, knowledge, income, and cosmopolite and community interaction with public attitudes towards forest of Sungai Nilam village against illegal logging. Research was conducted on March 2016 with survey method descriptively with interview technique. The samples were collected by purposive sampling and the numbers of respondents are 94. The result of the research showed that 48 respondents (51.10%) belonging to the group of receive and high attitude on illegal logging, meanwhile 46 respondents (48.90 %)belong to a neutral stance. No one has refused or rejected the illegal logging activity in their village.This is because in the reality the community is dependent upon the results of forest timber and non-timber forest products in their everyday lives. It is needed the support from the government to their livelihood to overcome the illegal logging activity in their village. Keywords: attitude, illegal logging, Sungai Nilam village
