Abstract

Malaria remains a major public health problem in tropical regions. Climate change leads to increased temperature, humidity, and rainfall, which affect the ecology of Anopheles mosquitoes as the primary vector of malaria. These conditions may expand transmission areas and prolong vector survival. The purpose of this study To review the influence of climate change on the spread and incidence of malaria in tropical regions based on recent studies published in 2024–2025. This study is a literature review by searching scientific articles through PubMed, Scopus, and nationally indexed journals (SINTA). Articles that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed descriptively based on temperature, humidity, and rainfall variables related to malaria occurrence. The review found that an increase in temperature (25–32°C) and humidity (70–85%) accelerates parasite development and extends mosquito lifespan. Excessive rainfall increases the number of breeding habitats. The combination of these factors elevates the risk of malaria transmission in tropical regions. Conclusions is Climate change significantly influences malaria transmission through environmental alterations and vector behavior changes. Adaptive control strategies and climate-based surveillance systems are required to prevent future increases in malaria incidence

Abstract

A Caesarean section (CS) involves a surgical process for delivering a baby, which often triggers fear and pain, leading to anxiety. If not managed effectively, this anxiety can negatively impact both the mother and the baby. As non-pharmacological alternatives to managing anxiety, Benson relaxation therapy and five-finger hypnosis have shown promise. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Benson relaxation therapy and five-finger hypnosis in reducing anxiety levels among pre-operative Caesarean section patients. A quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest approach was employed. The study sample comprised 60 Caesarean section patients at the Regional General Hospital, selected through purposive sampling. The STAI-S questionnaire was used as the research instrument, and data were analyzed using Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. The findings revealed a significant reduction in anxiety levels in pre-operative Caesarean section patients after receiving Benson relaxation therapy (p-value 0.000) and five-finger hypnosis (p-value 0.000). Additionally, a notable difference in anxiety levels was observed between the Benson therapy group and the five-finger hypnosis, with a p-value of 0.011

Abstract

Flooding is one of the most frequent disasters in Indonesia and has significant impacts on students’ safety and learning activities in schools. Therefore, improving students’ disaster preparedness is essential to reduce the risks of flood disasters. One effort that can be implemented is disaster management socialization in the school environment. This study aimed to determine the effect of disaster management socialization on the preparedness of students at SMP Negeri 2 Delitua in facing floods. This study employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one group pretest–posttest design. The respondents consisted of 30 students selected using a total sampling technique. The research instrument was a flood preparedness questionnaire covering three aspects: knowledge, attitude, and action. Disaster management socialization was conducted through interactive lectures, educational video screenings, and flood evacuation simulations. Data were analyzed using the Paired Sample t-Test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed an increase in students’ knowledge scores after the socialization; however, the increase was not statistically significant (p 0.05). In the attitude aspect, a significant change was observed after the socialization (p 0.05), indicating increased awareness of flood risks. Meanwhile, the action aspect showed a significant improvement (p 0.05), indicating that students were more capable of taking concrete actions in responding to flood situations. In conclusion, disaster management socialization influences students’ preparedness, particularly in the aspects of attitudes and actions

Abstract

One of the factors contributing to a decline in the quality of life among elderly individuals with hypertension is sleep quality. Sleep disturbances, such as insomnia or non-restorative sleep, can affect blood pressure regulation. Poor sleep quality, including short sleep duration, may trigger activation of the sympathetic nervous system and increased cortisol levels, which directly impact blood pressure. Elderly patients with hypertension commonly experience poor sleep quality, characterized by reduced sleep efficiency and frequent nocturnal awakenings. This study aimed to determine the relationship between sleep quality and quality of life among elderly patients with hypertension in the working area of the Sidomulyo Public Health Center. This study employed a quantitative research design using a descriptive correlational method with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 210 respondents were included in the study. Bivariate analysis was performed using the chi-square test. Statistical analysis revealed a p-value of 0.001 (0.05), indicating a very significant relationship between sleep quality and quality of life. A significant relationship exists between sleep quality and quality of life among elderly patients with hypertension in the working area of the Sidomulyo Public Health Center

Abstract

Late adolescence is a transitional phase toward early adulthood. College students face various academic, social, and personal demands that can potentially impact mental health. Social support is viewed as a protective factor that plays a crucial role in maintaining an individual's psychological well-being. This study aims to determine the relationship between social support and mental health in late adolescent college students. The research method used was a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The subjects consisted of 120 college students aged 18–24 years old selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research instruments included the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) and the General Health Questionnaire-12 (GHQ-12). Data analysis was performed using Pearson Product Moment correlation. The results showed a significant positive relationship between social support and college students' mental health (r = 0.47; p 0.01). This finding indicates that the higher the social support received by college students, the better their mental health. This study emphasizes the importance of the social environment in supporting college students' mental health during late adolescence

Abstract

The work motivation of implementing nurses is an important factor in determining the quality of nursing services in hospitals. However, problems are still found in the form of low work motivation characterized by a lack of discipline, work enthusiasm, appreciation, and unequal distribution of tasks. This condition is thought to be related to the suboptimal implementation of the ward head management function, including planning, organizing, directing, and controlling. This study aims to determine the relationship between the implementation of the ward head management function and the work motivation of implementing nurses in the Inpatient Ward of the Bandar Lampung Army Health Detachment Hospital. This study used a quantitative, correlative analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The population and sample of the study amounted to 60 implementing nurses using a total sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire in September 2025, then analyzed univariately and bivariately. The results of the statistical test showed a p value = 0.007 (p 0.05), which indicates a significant relationship between the ward head management function and the work motivation of implementing nurses. Thus, it can be concluded that the effective implementation of ward head management functions is closely related to increased work motivation among nurses. Therefore, nurses are expected to continue to improve their work motivation through competency development, strengthening teamwork, and active participation in nursing activities

Abstract

Oral and dental health problems in early childhood remain a major public health concern worldwide, including in Indonesia. Early Childhood Caries (ECC) is one of the most common oral health problems among preschool children and may negatively affect quality of life and child development. Preventive efforts to address oral health problems in early childhood cannot be separated from the role of parents, as children are highly dependent on parental guidance in forming daily health behaviors. Parental oral health care behaviors, such as supervising toothbrushing, regulating the consumption of cariogenic foods, and utilizing dental health services, represent an essential component of family-based health promotion strategies. This review aims to analyze parental oral health care behaviors as part of health promotion efforts for early childhood based on studies published between 2020 and 2025. A narrative literature review approach was applied by searching scientific articles through Google Scholar, PubMed, and DOAJ databases. Included articles focused on parental roles, knowledge, and behaviors related to early childhood oral health care and their contribution to the prevention of oral health problems. The findings indicate that parental oral health care behaviors are significantly associated with early childhood oral health status. Parents with higher levels of knowledge and health literacy tend to implement more consistent and preventive oral health practices for their children. In addition, health promotion interventions involving parents have been shown to be effective in improving children’s oral health behaviors and reducing the risk of oral health problems. This review concludes that parental oral health care behavior is a key component of early childhood health promotion and should be strengthened through sustainable family-based education and empowerment strategies

Abstract

Discharge planning is an important process in patient care, particularly for patients after cesarean section surgery, with the aim of improving family understanding in providing home care and preventing complications and readmissions. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the implementation of discharge planning and the knowledge and attitudes of families in caring for post-cesarean patients at Dr. Soekardjo Regional General Hospital. Theories underlying this research included discharge planning, knowledge, and attitudes, as well as implementation principles for post-cesarean patients. This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach, involving 25 respondents selected using a total sampling technique. The research instrument was a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results showed that most respondents rated the implementation of discharge planning as good (60%), with a high level of knowledge (64%) and predominantly positive family attitudes (60%). Bivariate analysis using Fisher’s Exact Test showed a significant relationship between discharge planning implementation and knowledge (p = 0.000) as well as family attitudes (p = 0.000). This study concludes that effective discharge planning is significantly related to family knowledge and attitudes. It is recommended that health care providers implement discharge planning in structured, communicative, continuous care programs

Abstract

Weight loss and improvement in cardiometabolic risk are the primary goals of dietary interventions in populations at risk for obesity and dyslipidemia. Low-carbohydrate ketogenic diets (including VLCDs) and low-fat diets are two popular approaches, but their long-term effects are controversial. This systematic review aims to compare the long-term effects of low- carbohydrate ketogenic diets and low-fat diets on weight loss, dyslipidemia risk, and cardiometabolic outcomes in an adult population. A literature search of the PubMed, WOS, scilit Total records identified 4.179. After screening, 15 studies with a duration of at least 12 months were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The ketogenic diet resulted in greater weight loss in the first 6–12 months, but 58% of subjects experienced an increase in LDL-C, despite improvements in triglycerides and HDL-C. The low-fat diet more consistently reduced LDL-C and triglycerides and increased HDL-C, although weight loss was slower. In the period 24 months, the difference in weight loss narrowed, but the risk of dyslipidemia in the ketogenic diet still needs to be watched out for. In conclusion, the ketogenic diet is effective for short-term weight loss and improvements in several lipid parameters, but can increase the risk of LDL-C. A low-fat diet is safer for long-term lipid profiles. Diet selection should be adjusted to the individual's risk profile and regular cardiometabolic monitoring.

Abstract

Stress among adolescents is an increasing mental health concern and is influenced by various psychosocial factors. Empathy, defined as the affective ability to understand and share others’ emotions, is believed to play an important role in helping adolescents manage stress adaptively. This study aims to examine the role of empathy in stress management among adolescents in Indonesia through a literature review. The method used was a narrative literature review by searching open-access scientific articles through PubMed, Google Scholar, and ResearchGate published between 2021 and 2025, using the keywords empathy, stress, stress management, adolescent, and Indonesia. Approximately 12,000 articles were identified in the initial search. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 10 relevant articles were selected for analysis. The findings indicate that empathy contributes to adolescent stress management through mechanisms such as emotional regulation, enhanced resilience, and strengthened peer social support. Adaptive empathy is associated with better coping abilities and lower stress levels, whereas empathy that is not accompanied by adequate emotional regulation may increase vulnerability to stress. In conclusion, empathy is an important component in adolescent stress management and has potential implications for the development of promotive and preventive mental health interventions for adolescents
