Abstract

The process from adulthood to old age causes cognitive impairment to the memory abilities of the elderly. As an effort to overcome the decline in cognitive function in the elderly, nursing staff can do this by carrying out non-pharmacological therapy, namely brain exercises. Brain exercises are a number of simple movements that can balance each part of the brain, can draw out the level of brain concentration and provide some solutions for blocked parts of the brain so they can function optimally. Improving memory function can prevent a complete decline in the intellectual, cognitive and emotional functions of the elderly. This research aims to find out whether there are brain exercises on changes in memory in the elderly. The method used is a case study which involves several stages of the nursing care process starting from assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation and nursing evaluation with a focus on nursing diagnoses, namely memory disorders. After giving brain exercise training for 3 x 15 minutes, it was proven to have an effect on changes in memory. The implementation of brain exercises has been proven to be effective in increasing changes in memory. Brain exercises can improve language skills and memory, including the right brain and left brain, to the cerebrum, the brain flows to the cerebrum and affects cognitive function.

Abstract

Adolescence is a phase of rapid and critical development, necessitating increased energy, protein, vitamin and mineral requirements. However, poor dietary patterns during adolescence pose a risk factor for malnutrition, negatively impacting health into adulthood and, requiring nutritional interventions to break the cycle intergenerational malnutrition. Social media-based nutritional interventions through instagram have the potential to provide health information for adolescents. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the development stages of intervention media and the effectiveness of nutritional education interventions through instagram addressing adolescent nutritional issues. Method: The study follows Arksey and O'Malley framework with PRISMA-ScR systematic review method. Article searches were conducted on Google, Scopus, Science Direct, PubMed and Google Scholar databases using keywords "nutritional education" OR "nutrition-related interventions" AND "Instagram" OR “Instagram-based” AND "adolescent". Inclusion criteria required articles published between 2014 and 2024, involving adolescents aged 10-19 years, written in English or Indonesian, instagram as primary intervention media and employing quantitative and qualitative research designs. Results: Review results indicated interventions lasting an average duration of 2-12 weeks with varying content, although detailed reporting on content development was often lacking. Despite predominantly low intensity, interventions across 12 demonstrated significant improvement in knowledge, attitudes, practices, diet quality, compliance in consuming iron folic acid supplementation (IFAS), waist circumference, physical activity, nutritional intake (energy, protein, carbohydrates), and body image. Nutritional education interventions through instagram showed varying degrees of success among adolescents. Conclusions: Overall, this review highlights the need for the development stages and the importance of considering intervention intensity to enhance the effectiveness of nutritional education interventions through instagram.

Abstract

Cerebral infarction (ischemic stroke) is a condition when blood flow to the brain is obstructed, causing damage to brain tissue. Cerebral infarction is one of the most common cerebrovascular diseases and can result in severe residual functional disability that permanently affects the patient's activities of daily living and quality of life. One of them is aphasia or impaired language function. Elderly people with aphasia will be given AIUEO therapy which aims to improve speech so that spoken articulation is clear. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of applying AIUEO therapy in improving the speaking ability of aphasia patients. The type of research used in this case study is descriptive. AIUEO therapy for Mrs. E can improve verbal communication because the patient is able to express his wishes directly and does not use writing. The patient's speech can also sometimes be heard quite clearly. Evaluation of Mrs. E for 3 days shows an increase in the patient's communication after being given AIUEO therapy. There is an effect of AIUEO therapy on improving speaking ability.
