Abstract

Asthma is a chronic inflammation that results in bronchospasm and bronchoconstriction that cause weakness of the respiratory muscles, resulting in a decrease in respiratory ability. One of the efforts to correct these disturbances is made by doing asthma gymnastics. Objective: This study aims to identify the influence of asthma gymnastics on the peak expiratory flow among asthma sufferers. Method: This type of research was a pre-experiment with a pretest-posttest design. The sample in this study is composed of 31 asthma patients selected using the total sampling technique. Data analysis using paired t-test with α significant level of 0.05. Results: As a result of the asthma exercise, the Peak Respiratory Flow (PEF) increased to 304 lt/min from 208 lt/min before the exercise (p 0.000 < 0.05). There was an effect of asthma gymnastics on peak respiratory flow among asthma patients at the Asthma Polyclinic of Bangil Hospital. Conclusions: Regular asthma gymnastics can improve breathing ability, as indicated by peak respiratory flow, and improve the quality of life of asthma sufferers.

Tissue damage due to pressure on soft tissue, decubitus often occurs in patients who are bedridden for long periods of time. One way to prevent pressure ulcers is by massaging using moisturizer such as pure coconut oil and doing Range Of Motion (ROM). This scientific research aims to determine the effectiveness of bed shifting or Range Of Motion (ROM) as an effort to prevent pressure ulcers. The ROM method is carried out 3 days in a row every 2 hours in the morning, afternoon, and evening. After implementing ROM (Range Of Motion) result obtained in these patients for 3 days periodically showed a reduction in complaints of pain when lying in bed. The ROM (Range Of Motion) method has been proven to be effective in preventing pressure ulcers in stroke patient who are bedridden for a long time. The ROM (Range Of Motion) method is very effective in helping prevent decubitus in bed rest patients such as stroke.

Abstract

Rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory illness characterized by the deterioration of joints and synovial lining, particularly in the hands, feet, and knees. There are both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for rheumatoid arthritis. Decoction of papaya leaves is one of the non-pharmaceutical remedies for rheumatoid arthritis that reduces joint pain complaints. This study aimed to assess the effect of papaya leaf decoction on joint pain complaints in senior patients with rheumatoid arthritis at Pekkabata Health Center. This study utilized a quasi-experiment with a one-group Pre-post-test design technique. Purposive sampling was employed to collect data from a total of 10 individuals. Using the Paired T-Test statistic, the data were evaluated. The findings of the Paired T-Test with a p-value of 0.000 indicate that papaya leaf decoction affects joint pain complaints in older patients with rheumatoid arthritis at the Pekkabata Public Health Center. This study suggests that a papaya leaf decoction can be used as an alternative, non-pharmaceutical treatment for rheumatoid arthritis to help lessen joint pain complaints.

Abstract

Gout is the result of protein metabolism from foods that contain purines such as several types of food sourced from animals and have a high content of purines including, jeroun (liver, spleen, tripe), livestock (beef, horse meat and goat meat), processed (comet, sardines, cheese) increase uric acid levels, if there is an increase in uric acid levels and are marked by sciatica in the joints, Aches, pains, redness and swelling are known as gout. The prevalence of gout in Indonesia occurs under the age of 34 years by 32% and over 34 years by 68%. People with gout if not treated quickly will worsen. The objective was to determine the effect of the combination of boiled water of basil leaves (Cimum basilicum) and bay leaves (Syzygium polysnthum) on the uric acid levels of the elderly in Rumpa Village. The method used was the quasi-experimental time approach method (pretest-post test), a sample of 10 people. Results The researcher obtained a statistical test using the Paired Sample t test because after the normality test of the data obtained was normally distributed with the pre-test, a value of p0.880 (p0.05) was obtained. For the post test, a value of p0.614 (p0.05) was obtained, so it can be concluded that the data is normally distributed. This means that there is an effect of giving a combination of basil leaf boiled water (Ocimum Basilicum) and bay leaf boiled water (Syzygium Polyanthum) on uric acid levels in the elderly

Abstract

Tonsillitis can be caused by bacteria and virus. The bacteria that most commonly causes tonsillitis is Streptococcus β hemolytic. Diagnose of tonsillitis is very important to ensure the cause in order to conduct appropriate treatments, so avoid unnecessary use of antibiotics. Diagnostic test that can be applied to determine the causes of tonsillitis are throat swab culture method and RADT. The purpose of this study was to investigate the presence of Streptococcus β hemolyticus as the cause of tonsillitis using throat swab culture method and RADT This study was observational analytic with cross sectional approach. Patients who met inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria then tested using throat swab culture and RADT. Data obtained in this research was processed with statistical analysis techniques. Data did not distributed normally using nonparametric test, i.e. Mann-Whitney test. In this research obtained 30 samples tonsillitis patient, which tested by culture and RADT methods. Results between culture and RADT compared. Result from culture method obtained 11 samples of patient was positive Streptococcus β hemolyticus and 16 samples of patient was positive Streptococcus β hemolyticus of RADT method. Statistical analysis showed that there was significant differences between the examination result of throat swab method and RADT.
