Abstract

As the main health worker in the Emergency Room (ER), nurses have a strategic approach to improving interprofessional communication and coordination. Effective professional collaboration is facilitated by the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behavior of nurses in the Emergency Room. Objective to analyze the relationship between knowledge, perceptions, attitudes and behavior of nurses towards inter-professional collaboration. This research is a quantitative research with a cross sectional approach to analyze the relationship between knowledge, perceptions, attitudes and behavior of nurses towards inter-professional collaboration. The research population was 59 ER nurses. The sampling technique used was total sampling. Data was collected by a questionnaire on nurses'' knowledge, perceptions, attitudes and behavior using observation sheets. Data analysis used the Kolmogrov-Smirnov normality test, and the correlation test used Kendall Tahu. The majority of nurses'' knowledge is in the sufficient category, 32 respondents (59.5%), and the perception of nurses in the good and bad categories is same, namely 27 respondents (50.5%). The majority of nurses'' attitudes were in the positive category of 29 respondents (53.7%), and the behavior of nurses was in the good category 38 respondents (70.4%). Data is normally distributed. The Kendall Tau test shows that there is a relationship between knowledge, perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors of emergency room nurses towards interprofessional collaborative practices. Every healthcare professional needs specific instructions on inter-professional collaboration in order to understand their respective responsibilities and roles. Additionally, nurses' self-development needs to be improved in order for them to comprehend inter-professional cooperation adequately through ongoing education and professional collaboration training.

Abstract

Gout Arthritis is a disease caused when the kidneys are unable to remove uric acid in the blood. This results in the accumulation of uric acid levels which manifests in inflammation in the joints and has a physical and psychological impact on the sufferer. One of the complementary therapies used to reduce uric acid levels is the use of bay leaf boiled water. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of bay leaf decoction on uric acid levels in patients with gout atritis in the working area of the Payung Sekaki Health Center, Pekanbaru City. The research design used quasy was experimental with a time series design with control. The sample in this study was 18 people with gout who were taken using the purposive sampling technique and were differentiated into the intervention and control groups. The intervention group was given bay leaf decoction for 4 days and uric acid levels were measured before and after the administration of the leaf decoction. The instruments used were observation sheets and GCU easy touch tools. The data were analyzed using t-dependent and t-independent tests. The results of the study in the intervention group were obtained p values on day 1 (0.000), day 2 (0.000), day 3 (0.000) and day 4 (0.000). All of these results showed a p value of <0.05 which means that there was a significant effect of giving bay leaf decoction on reducing uric acid levels in the intervention group. Meanwhile, in the control group, p values were obtained which were <0.05 respectively starting from the 1st day (0.609), the 2nd day (0.870), the 3rd day (0.910), and the 4th day (0.377). Based on these findings, there was no difference in pre-test and post-test scores in the control group. The results of the t-independent test in the intervention group and the control group from days 1 to 4 obtained the same p value of 0.000 (<0.05). This means that the difference in post-test scores after being given bay leaf decoction water in the intervention and control groups. Thus, it can be concluded that giving bay leaf decoction regularly until the 4th day can help reduce uric acid levels in patients with gout arthritis.

Abstract

Insertion of an IV is a medical procedure that is often performed on children in hospitals. This procedure often causes anxiety and pain which can affect the child's comfort and healing process. Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between anxiety levels and the intensity of pain felt by children when installing an IV. Methods: The research method used is quantitative with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling by paying attention to inclusion and exclusion criteria. The total number of respondents in this study was 60 people. Data was collected through an anxiety questionnaire using the facial image scale (FIS) and a pain scale using the Wong Baker Face questionnaire. These two questionnaires were filled out by the child before and after the infusion procedure. Results: The results of data analysis showed that there was a significant positive correlation between the level of anxiety and the intensity of pain felt by children (r=0.49, p<0.05). Conclusions: The results of this study show that the higher the child's anxiety before the infusion procedure, the higher the pain intensity felt. This research suggests the importance of psychological intervention to reduce anxiety in children before the infusion procedure in order to reduce pain and increase the child's comfort during hospital treatment.
