Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of looking for social criticism in the novel Book Shamer by Asmira Fhea, data was taken from the novel Book Shamer by Asmira Fhea. Data collection was carried out using library techniques, listening and taking notes. The data analysis methods used are descriptive analysis, content analysis, and comparative analysis by identifying elements in the novel, using Lucian Goldman's literary sociology theory. The results of this research show that there are five social criticisms in the novel Book Shamer, namely moral criticism about the ethics of communication on social media and the importance of empathy, educational criticism regarding the freedom to choose an educational path and a dismissive view of the field of literature, and family criticism which describes generational conflict related to appreciation. towards reading fiction. This research also emphasizes the importance of social awareness and appreciation of various types of knowledge and literary works. This study can show how literary works can be a medium for reflection and criticism of social reality. This confirms that literary works are not only entertainment, but also have an important role in forming social awareness.

Abstract

This research aims of explaining and describe the educational values contained in the novel Dua Jempol Untuknya by Alto Makmuralto. The data source for this research is the novel Dua Jempol Untuknya, with data in the form of quoted phrases and sentences containing educational values. The data collection technique used was the note-taking technique. The data analysis technique used is Miles and Huberman's qualitative data analysis technique, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that the novel Dua Jempol Untuknya by Alto Makmuralto contains five educational values, namely 1) Divine Education Values, 2) Social Education Values, 3) Moral Education Values, 4) Cultural Education Values, and 5) Educational Values Aesthetics. Based on the research results obtained from these five educational values, it can be concluded that the values found contain a variety of important educational values, which can be used as teaching materials and references in learning to form better and superior personalities for students.

Abstract

This research and development aims to: (1) obtain comprehensive information regarding the design of an inquiry-based critical reading learning model to improve critical reading skills, (2) produce a product in the form of an inquirybased critical reading learning model book. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D), with a 4D model development design (Define, Design, Defelopment, and Dessimination). The data from this research are qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data comes from comments, criticism and suggestions from expert and practitioner assessments of model books. Quantitative data comes from expert and practitioner assessments of model books. The data analysis technique for this research is qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Qualitative data analysis, namely grouping and concluding data in the form of comments, criticism and suggestions from media improvement experts and practitioners and quantitative data analysis, namely finding the average of each expert assessment indicator for the suitability of the model book. The results of this research are the design of an inquiry-based critical reading learning model with eight learning syntaxes, namely: (1) problem presentation; (2) hypothesis formation; (3) conceptualization of steps; (4) information collection; (5) information analysis; (6) reading evaluation; (7) statement of ideas; and (8) selfreflection. The results of expert assessments and inquiry-based critical reading model books show feasibility by obtaining an average of 0.93 in the very feasible category. The results of the expert assessment of the model book show an assessment in the very appropriate category.

Abstract

The background of the film raises the subject of gender discrimination in a conservative environment, highlighting the patriarchal culture that dominates and influences violence against women. Through a semiotic analysis of gender using Roland Barthes' theory, this research seeks to outline how the film portrays gender issues and the role of women in traditional society. It aims to examine the meaning of the movie using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory that explores the meaning of denotation, connotation, and myth. The method used in this research is qualitative method. The data collected are verbal and visual signs from the movie Perempuan Berkakung Sorban by Abidah El Kgalieqy. This study found 12 out of 309 scenes depicting gender issues and women's roles in traditional society using Roland Barthes' theory. The denotation of the scene displays gender injustice in everyday life. The connotations of the scenes reflect patriarchal views and gender discrimination through social and religious norms, reinforcing conservative domestic roles. The myth of women asserts that women should be subservient to men and that female leadership is against religious norms. The conclusion of this study highlights that patriarchal and conservative norms are used to maintain unequal power structures, limiting women's aspirations and freedoms in traditional societies.

Abstract

This research analyzes narratives in films and dissects them using theory according to Tzvetan Todorov. This research aims to describe the narrative at the beginning, middle and end of the film Hati Suhita. This research uses qualitative research methods with a narrative approach. Based on the results of research using Tzvetan Todorov's narrative analysis, namely the narrative from beginning to end in the film is very clearly structured starting from the beginning, middle and end plot. There are 6 initial equilibria, 4 disruptions and 4 re-settlements in this film. By using image codes, including minutes, and accompanied by conversational dialogue, researchers can obtain valid data. In the initial plot, things are still harmonious, it can be seen that Alina Suhita and Gus Birru's marriage is in good condition even though they both don't love each other. Then the middle plot of this film shows that conflict begins to emerge and the balance begins to be disturbed, the peak of the conflict occurs when Alina and Gus Birru argue which occurs because of the wishes of their parents who urge them to immediately have children. The final plot, namely the conflict finally ends, is seen when Gus Birru apologizes to Alina, resulting in the conflict ending and a final balance emerging. In accordance with the model described by Todorov, the initial plot of this film is still in a normal state, balance begins to exist. Then the middle plot of this film explains how conflict begins to arise and the balance begins to be disturbed. The final plot is that the conflict finally ends and balance begins to occur.

Abstract

This research examines the role of nature in Bugis Makassar folklore. This research uses a qualitative approach to explore and understand the meaning contained in folklore. A literature study was used to collect references related to Makassar Bugis folklore and the study of nature in this culture. The data obtained used the thematic analysis method. The researcher identified the main themes that emerged from the data and grouped the information based on the relationship between natural elements and the moral values contained in the story. After the analysis was complete, the researcher interpreted the results and described how nature plays a role in the narrative structure of Makassar Bugis folklore. The research results reveal that natural elements are proven to have very significant and diverse functions in the narrative structure and in conveying the cultural values of the Bugis community. Through analysis of various folk tales, it was found that nature not only functions as a background but also as an active character, influencing the decisions and fate of the characters. Elements such as forests, rivers, and weather phenomena become symbols that reflect emotional states and morality and emphasize the importance of a harmonious relationship between humans and the environment. In the modern context, the importance of preserving folklore and the cultural values contained therein is increasingly relevant, especially in facing environmental challenges. Thus, a deep understanding of the role of nature in Bugis Makassar folklore can contribute to efforts to preserve culture and the environment amidst rapid societal development.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif yaitu bertujuan untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan kesetiaan berbahasa siswa kelas VIII UPT SMPN 2 Binamu berdasarkan gender dan tingkat pendidikan orang tua; (2) mendeskripsikan kebanggaan berbahasa siswa kelas VIII UPT SMPN 2 Binamu berdasarkan gender dan tingkat pendidikan orang tua; dan (3) mendeskripsikan kesadaran adanya norma berbahasa siswa kelas VIII UPT SMPN 2 binamu berdasarkan gender dan tingkat pendidikan orang tua. Pengambilan data dan informasi dalam penelitian ini mengenai sikap bahasa yang dilakukan dengan penyebaran angket dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) kesetiaan berbahasa siswa berdasarkan gender, sebagian besar kesetiaan berbahasa siswa laki-laki sebanyak 100 atau 35,09% termasuk dalam kategori positif, sedangkan siswa perempuan sebanyak 139 atau 43,44% termasuk dalam kategori positif. kesetiaan berbahasa siswa berdasarkan tingkat pendidikan orang tua siswa, jumlah tertinggi siswa yang menjawab setuju pada tingkat pendidikan orang tua SMA sebanyak 117 atau 47,76% berada pada kategori positif. (2) kebanggaan berbahasa siswa berdasarkan gender, sebagian besar kebanggaan berbahasa siswa laki-laki sebanyak 114 atau 40,00% termasuk dalam kategori positif, sedangkan siswa perempuan sebanyak 146 atau 45,63% termasuk dalam kategori positif. kebanggaan berbahasa siswa berdasarkan tingkat pendidikan orang tua siswa, jumlah tertinggi siswa yang menjawab setuju pada tingkat pendidikan orang tua SMA sebanyak 103 atau 42,04% berada pada kategori positif, (3) kesadaran adanya norma berbahasa Indonesia siswa berdasarkan gender, sebagian besar kesadaran adanya norma berbahasa siswa laki-laki sebanyak 102 atau 35,79% berada dalam kategori positif, sedangkan siswa perempuan sebanyak 133 atau 41,56% berada dalam kategori positif. kesadaran adanya norma berbahasa siswa berdasarkan tingkat pendidikan orang tua siswa, jumlah tertinggi siswa yang menjawab setuju pada tingkat pendidikan orang tua SMA sebanyak 106 atau 43,27% berada dalam kategori positif.

Abstract

This research aims to (1) determine the level of reading interest of students at SMP 2 Donri-Donri Soppeng in rural areas; (2) find out the factors that influence students' interest in reading at SMP 2 Donri-Donri Soppeng in rural areas. The type of research used is Quantitative and Qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The data in this research uses quantitative data obtained from the results of a questionnaire filled in by all 87 students of Donri-Donri 2 Middle School and qualitative data obtained from interviews with the Principal, Teachers and Students. The data analysis technique for this research is quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Quantitative data analysis is used to obtain the level of reading interest, while qualitative data analysis is used to obtain factors that influence reading interest. The results of the research reveal that the level of reading interest of students at SMP Negeri 2 Donri-Donri in rural areas is still low and the factors that influence students' interest in reading at SMP Negeri 2 Donri-Donri are internal and external factors. Internal factors include gender and external factors include the availability of reading materials, school policies, digital media, and economic factors.

Abstract

This research aims to: (1) Assess the competency of expressing dialogue between characters in drama performances for class XI students at SMAN 3 Soppeng by applying the role playing method in learning; (2) Testing the effectiveness of the role playing method in learning to express dialogue between characters in drama performances for class XI students at SMAN 3 Soppeng. The design used is an experimental research design (true experimental) with descriptive statistical data analysis techniques and inferential statistics. The population in this study were all class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Donri-Donri, Soppeng Regency. The sample for this research was 134 students. Sampling was carried out by drawing lots for the classes that would be used as research samples. In this research, two classes were used as samples, namely classes XI IPA 1 and XI IPA 3. The technique used in collecting data was the test technique. The results of the research show that (1) The learning competency for drama performances of class XI SMAN 3 Soppeng using the role playing method is categorized as high with an average of 84.2 so the score obtained by students reaches the specified criteria, namely reaching 90%; (2) The role playing method is effectively applied in class XI SMAN 3 Soppeng with a value of tcount > ttable or 4, 727 > 2.09 at a significance level of 0.05. Based on the results of this research, suggestions are made: (1) Teachers should always apply the role playing method in teaching drama performances for class XI students at SMAN 3 Soppeng, especially in learning speaking aspects; (2) to improve learning, researchers should prioritize the role playing method because this method is effective in increasing students' abilities, motivation and love of learning; (3) It is hoped that future researchers in developing learning methods will continue to carry out research trials on role playing methods in all aspects of Indonesian language learning, even in other subjects.

Abstract

Description Text Writing Skills Using Lontara Script with Object Observation Techniques in Class VIII Students of SMP Negeri 5 Barru". Thesis, Regional Language and Literature Education Study Program, Department of Indonesian Language and Literature, Faculty of Language and Literature, Makassar State University, (supervised by Syamsudduha, and Aswati Asri). This research aims to describe the skills of writing descriptive text using the Lontara script with object observation techniques for class VIII students at SMP Negeri 5 Barru. This research is quantitative descriptive. The population in this study was all 196 class VIII students. The sample determined was 32 people. The data analysis technique used to collect data in this research is the written test technique. The results of this research show that the skills in writing descriptive text using the Lontara script with object observation techniques in class VIII students at SMP Negeri 5 Barru are in the unskilled category. This was shown from the 32 samples that had been determined, 6 students (19%) got a score of 75-100, and 26 students (81%) got a score of 0-74.
