Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease, which involves a variety of pathogenic processes. Overall these processes result in loss of mass and/or function of pancreatic-cells which is manifested as hyperglycemia. The influence of familial factors appears to be involved in the initiation and development of T2DM through both genetic and non-genetic factors. In the same family environment as patients with diabetes, first-degree relatives of patients with diabetes show a 30-70% increased risk of developing diabetes. Insulin resistance and cell dysfunction have been identified in individuals with a family history of diabetes, even before the onset of T2DM symptoms. Monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) is a CC-chemokine with an attractant effect on monocytes, memory T cells and basophils. Expression of adipose tissue MCP-1 and circulating levels were  positively correlated with adiposity. Larger adipocytes are associated with insulin resistance. This study aims to determine the changes in MCP-1 expression on monocytes before and after treatment with a high-fat diet for five days. The results showed that there was a change in inflammatory activity which was indicated by a high ratio of TNF-alfa/IL – 10 in the FDR group so that it could increase MCP-1 activity. However, there was no relationship between serum MCP-1 levels and the percentage of CD14+CD16+ monocytes in both groups.

Abstract

Burn injury is severe trauma that is mainly caused by fire that affects in various organ systems. The metabolic response caused by burn inury is catabolism of energy, protein, and lipid, so a high quality nutrition with high bioavailability is needed to accelerate wound healing process. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of food intervention of liquid food formula from catfish (Clarias gariepinus)-moringa (Moringa oleifera) that have been processed by nanoparticle technology and the effect of body weight and wound healing process through the number of fibroblasts in rats with burn. This study used an experimental design with completely randomized design with ethical number 203-2021 IPB. The samples were 3 month old male Sprague Dawley rats weighing 200-300 grams. There are 6 intervention treatments: control group (aquades), commercial liquid food formula 30%, non-nano liquid food formula 15%, non-nano liquid food formula 30%, nano liquid food formula 15%, and nano liquid food formula 30%. The intervention was carried out for 14 days. Statistical analysis for the difference test used One Way ANOVA. The body weight of rats continued to decrease from day 0,6 to 15. There was no significant difference between groups in the average body weight of rats on days 0,6, and 15 (p-value>0,05). There was a tendency that nano liquid food formula was accelerated the wound healing process in burn rats after 14 days of intervention, but no significantly (p-value>0,05).

Abstract

The development of Covid-19 cases shows that the number of confirmed cases of pregnant women with Covid-19 in serious condition has increased in several large cities in Indonesia. This study aimed to explore the correlation between husband's support and pregnant women's disapproval of Covid-19 vaccination. This research used analytical methods with a cross sectional design. Data was collected between October 14 and November 14 2022 in the Piyeung Community Health Center working area. All pregnant women in the area became the research population, and 85 people were taken as samples using the total sampling method. The research instrument consists of primary data collected through questionnaires and secondary data obtained from the Covid-19 Vaccination Achievement Report for Pregnant Women at the Aceh Besar Health Service and Piyeung Community Health Center. Data analysis involves univariate analysis techniques to distribute variable frequencies, as well as bivariate analysis using the chi-square test to assess the relationship between independent and dependent variables. The results of the univariate analysis showed that the majority of subjects (73 people or 85.9%) were not willing to be vaccinated. The research results showed that there was a significant correlation between husband's support (p-value=0,000) and pregnant women's unwillingness to be vaccinated against Covid-19. Therefore, it is hoped that health workers will be more proactive in promoting Covid-19 vaccination to pregnant women and provide the necessary information to increase awareness and acceptance of this vaccination.

Abstract

Kleinhovia hospita has long been used to treat diseases, including diabetes mellitus. This study aimed to evaluate if the hypoglycemic effects of K. hospita extract and fractions were related to its inhibition on the activity of $\alpha$-amylase and $\alpha$-glycosidase enzymes. K. hospita leaves were extracted with 96% ethanol and then subjected to liquid-liquid partition using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water as solvents. The inhibitory capacity of ethanolic extract and its fractions were tested against $\alpha$-amylase and $\alpha$-glycosidase enzyme activity and compared to acarbose. The in vitro study revealed that the IC50 of ethanolic extract, hexane, ethyl acetate, and water fractions were 1496,8 µg/mL, 1266,7 µg/mL, 12577,5 µg/mL, and 5217,0 µg/mL, respectively, against alfa-amylase activity. Whereas, for $\alpha$-glycosidase activity, the IC50 values were 1341,2 µg/mL, 25470,0 µg/mL, 64450,0 µg/mL, and 1291,4 µg/mL, respectively. These values were markedly greater than those of the acarbose (7,4 and 5,5 µg/mL, respectively). From the research results, it was concluded that K. hospita leaf extract had a high IC50 value from K. hospita extracts and fractions, which indicated that the hypoglycemic effect of K. hospita was not related to the inhibition of the $\alpha$-amylase and $\alpha$-glycosidase enzymes.
