The beginning of the 20th century was a period of development of automobile transportation in the Dutch East Indies. The presence of cars in the Dutch Indies was the result of the efforts of car importers. On Jalan Pangeran Mangkubumi Yogyakarta, there is a colonial style building which is currently a souvenir shop. Initially the building was a showroom for the Fuchs & Rens company. This building needs to be researched because there is no study regarding this colonial building, so discussion regarding this colonial building is very important to find out detailed information regarding this building. The research methods were literature study, observation, architectural analysis, stylistic analysis and then continued with morphological analysis to obtain research results. In this research, we found that the colonial building, about which no information is known, was a branch of the Fuchs & Rens showroom. Abstract

The study of political cannot be separated from the scope of its study which leads to power and policy. On the one hand, study of political can also be seen in the case of planning the construction of the national capital. National capitals, like building a city, can characterize the ideology and mentality of the rulers, and it is not uncommon for cities to serve as political legitimacy and historical memorials. This article uses the critical historical method with the stages of heuristics, source criticism, interpretation and historiography. This research focuses on the forms of failure of the relocation of the national capital shown through historical events. Based on this research, there are findings that become the novelty of the article including: The Relocation of the Capital in the Dutch East Indies Period, the State Capital in the Soekarno and New Order Eras and its Development. The three findings show that there are similarities in the forms of failure that make Jakarta have the magic so that its status remains as the capital of the country. Through the forms of failure to relocate the national capital, the failure can be caused by errors in policy direction and decision-making that have an impact on state losses.

Abstract

This research seeks to explore the practice of Sedekah Bedusun through a combination of literature analysis, observational methods, and interviews with knowledgeable individuals, all employing a qualitative descriptive approach. The literature analysis provides insight into the historical background, cultural values, and social implications surrounding this practice. In contrast, interviews offer a deeper perspective on Sedekah Bedusun from the viewpoint of the local community. The primary goal of this study is to elucidate the significance and impact of Sedekah Bedusun in fostering social relationships and upholding traditional values. Findings from the research reveal that Sedekah Bedusun serves not only as a source of economic support for those in need but also as a vital means of enhancing social solidarity, reinforcing cultural identity, and ensuring the continuity of traditional values within the community. Overall, this research makes a substantial contribution to our understanding of Sedekah Bedusun as a relevant social and cultural phenomenon, particularly in the context of rural communities.

Abstract

Local history often receives little attention from the general public as well as historical researchers. However, local history has the ability to influence national history and even global history. One example of local history that has the potential to shape national history is the event that occurred on December 12, 1962 in the city of Limbang, Sarawak. This event became one of the triggers for the Indonesia-Malaysia Confrontation between 1963 and 1966, especially the involvement of the British in the city. This research aims to dig deeper into the role of the British in Limbang City on December 12, 1962. The method used in this study is a historical method with a qualitative approach. The British involvement in the city of Limbang on that date was to rescue the hostages captured by the TNKU (Tentara Nasional Kalimantan Utara). Most of the hostages were residents of Kampung Pemukat loyal to the Federation of Malaya and were kidnapped by groups that supported the incorporation of Sarawak, Brunei, and Sabah into Indonesia. The rescue action carried out by the British succeeded in freeing the prisoners in Limbang City on December 12, 1962, which resulted in a failure for the TNKU. The failure of the TNKU actually triggered tensions between Indonesia and Malaysia, which ultimately contributed to the Indonesia-Malaysia confrontation between 1963 and 1966.

Abstract

This study discuss the eradication of the plague in the Priangan residency in 1929-1939. The plague in the Priangan Residency emerged and spread due to several factors, so the eradication of the plague had to be carried out in the Priangan Residency. The problems studied in this thesis are the growth and development factors of the plague, the impact caused by the plague, and the control of the plague in Priangan Residency. The method used is the historical method of Louis Gottschalk, namely heuristics, source criticism, interpretation and historiography. This study uses an anthropological approach to health and the theory of Gordon and de le Richt regarding the onset of disease. The plague spreads in Priangan Residency as a result of the plague (Yersinia pestis) as an agent, rat fleas (Xenopsylla cheopis) as vectors or carriers of disease (host), and several other supporting factors so that an environment becomes unfavorable to health. The plague began to appear in the Priangan Residency around 1925 due to several factors, namely the environmental conditions of Priangan which were considered suitable for the development of the plague and vectors, the social and economic conditions of the community, and the negligence of the government which was late in responding to the threat of bubonic plague. With the highest death rate in 1934, which was 20,522 people, the spread of the plague was handled by curative and preventive methods. Curative methods are applied after an infection has occurred, including the fulfillment and improvement of health services, the use of serum and bacteriophages, and treatment of victims. Preventive methods with the aim of preventing the spread of plague are isolation, house repairs, house inspections, building surveillance, vaccinations, and medical propaganda. Thus the plague in Priangan Residency can be overcome.
