Abstract

Stunting is the condition of malnutrition where the height is not as proportional as the age which can be investigated by the measurement of height indicator based on age. Stunting signifies the lack of nutrition condition which has happened for a long time and requires the time for children to grow and to be fully recovered. According to Riskesdas 2013 report, the prevalence of stunting in children under five years is 37,2%. One of the provinces which regarded as a serious category is the Province of Aceh with a prevalence of 41,5% consists of the very short 20,1% and the short around 21.4%. The regency of Aceh Barat is one of the regencies in Aceh province. This regency still confronts severe nutritional issues, one of them is stunting with the prevalence of 40,9%. There are many factors related to the case of stunting, for example LBW (Low body weight), mother’s height. Objective: Knowing relation LBW, mother’s height with the accidence of stunting in the children 6-24 months old in Aceh Barat regency.Method: This study is an analytic observational study with the quantitative method. The design of this study is cross sectional which learn the correlation between independent variables and the dependent variables, where the measurement of both variables was conducted at the same time.Result: From 212 children, there are 55,66% children suffer from stunting. The result of bivariate analysis suggests that the factors related to stunting is low birth-weight (p <0.05). Height of the mother are not related to stunting cases (p> 0.05).Conclusion: the factors related to stunting is low birth-weight.

Abstract

Nowadays, dietary fiber is no longer a modern food for teenagers in Indonesia. Dietary fiber has long been neglected as an important factor in dietary nutrition. This is due to a lack of public knowledge on the importance of consuming dietary fiber. Adolescence is a transition period from children to adult where they are easily influenced by the surrounding environment, easy to follow the latest trends where it is a determining factor for the quality of adolescents, such as the incidence of overweight in adolescents caused by lack of fiber consumption so that adolescents prefer fast food rather than fruit and vegetables. This study aims to determine the relationship between fiber consumption and the incidence of overweight in adolescent girls in Aceh Barat District. This research is a cross-sectional study with the sample of 50 adolescent girls aged 15-18 years old. Data was collected by means of a 24-hour food recall, weighing, and measuring their body height. Data analysis includes univariate and bivariate analysis with independent sample t-test. The results shows that there are 26% of adolescent girls who consume fiber well, while 76% of young women consume fiber bad. Fiber consumption affects the incidence of overweight in adolescent girls where the value of OR=13,588 (95% CI 1.591-116.032). So that fiber consumption has a 13.58 times chance of influencing adolescents girls not to be overweight.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most non-communicable diseases in Indonesia. The prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia is 25.8% based on measurements at age ≥ 18 years. One of the factors that influence the occurrence of hypertension is sodium intake and several studies have shown that there is a relationship between hypertension and salt taste threshold. This study aimed to analyse the relationship between salt taste threshold and sodium intake with the incidence of hypertension at the age of 18-60 years in the Cimanggis District Health Center, Depok City in 2019. This study used a case control design of outpatients in the Cimanggis District Health Center, Depok City. Subjects were selected by purposive sampling technique. Data characteristics were collected using administered questionnaire. Sodium intake was measured using the SQ-FFQ, and salt taste threshold was measured using the Khobragade method, with 5 variation of sodium concentration. Sodium intake in the case group was higher than the control group, with an average sodium intake in the case group of 2,620 mg and in the control group of 2,100 mg. The taste threshold in the case group increased by 20% while in the control group as much as 12%. There was no significant relationship between salted taste threshold and the incidence of hypertension, but there was significant relationship between sodium intake and hypertension.

Abstract

The enrichment of multi-nutrient biscuits, especially by using local ingredients that are proven to have good nutritional values may address the root causes of stunting, such as low socio-economy status and poor knowledge among the people. Moreover, it is a practical solution to reduce the prevalence of stunting. This research employed a quasi-experimental methodology to observe the acceptance of the addition of red sweet potato, temulawak, banana flower, and goat milk in multi-nutrient biscuit. The research population was all children aged between 6 and 7 months old in Langkat. Data analysis carried out was univariate and organoleptic analysis. There were more female toddlers (66.7%) than male. The majority (86.7%) of the research subjects were healthy during data collection and with no history of any diseases in the past one year (73.3%). They had normal birthweight (86.7%) and complete immunization status (53.3%), and were exclusively breastfed (70%) and not stunted (73.3%). There were two types of biscuit, A1 and A2, with different ratio of goat milk prepared in this study. Biscuit A1 with a reduced proportion of goat milk (15 gr) received the highest acceptability test score for color, aroma, texture, and taste.

Abstract

The rate of stunting in Indonesia is still very high. Based on the results of the Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) shows that the prevalence of stunting in 2018 shows that the rate of stunting in children under five in Indonesia reaches 30.8%. Stunting is caused by many factors, such as the effect of the condition by the mother during pregnancy. In addition, indirect factors such as exclusive breastfeeding, mother's knowledge, and economic factors also affect the health of toddlers. This literature review aims to identify a number of studies on Supplementary Feeding (PMT) made from Moringa Oleifera in pregnant women to overcome stunting. Moringa Oleifera can be used as an alternative source of protein and calcium that is potential to sufficient the nutritional needs of pregnant. The articles using Google and Google Scholar as seeking.
