Abstract

Students are not only involved in academic activity at school. They also need to develop themselves in leadership and confidence. Public speaking is one of the skills that help them in self-actualizing which motivated the researcher to conduct a workshop. “Public Speaking for Youth” was held at SMAN 28 Tangerang Regency to elevate student’s ability in public speaking and to build their confidence when they communicate. As part of Generation z, they still cannot handle their insecurities. However, this training prepared the students with techniques to avoid nervousness, effective communication and presentation skills. Students were involved in the lecture, interactive discussion, practical activity, and did the evaluation. The author spread some questionnaire to student which results were processed with descriptive analysis. They appeared with enthusiasm and applied the theory in a structured and convincing performance. The results showed that students felt more confident to speak in front of audience and they consider this training is very satisfactory, even though they expected some more time for the duration. This training would not be successful without the collaboration between facilitator, university, and school who commit to support our young generation. Public Speaking for Youth is expected to be the first step for students to develop their communication skills and to be an individual who are fearless to speak in any situation.

Abstract

Malnutrition remains a major issue for infants and children under five years old. Stunting is one of nutrition problems among children in Indonesia and continues to be a focal point in health concerns. The 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) indicates that approximately 1 in 5 children aged 0-59 months in Indonesia suffer from stunting. The aim of this community service is to provide health education to enhance mothers' knowledge and skills in preparing Complementary Feeding (MPASI) and to raise awareness about the long-term impacts of stunting in the Nagari Sijunjung Traditional Village. The results of the pre-test and post-test measuring mothers' knowledge of MPASI showed that the highest percentage of knowledge before the intervention was in the sufficient category, while after the intervention, it improved to the good category. There was a notable increase in the percentage of mothers with good knowledge after receiving educational interventions through counseling and cooking demonstrations. In conclusion, counseling and cooking demonstrations on MPASI can improve mothers' knowledge about MPASI, and it is recommended that health workers optimize mothers' knowledge by conducting repeated face-to-face sessions.

Abstract

There is still a need for a higher level of participation from lecturers in implementing the Tridharma of Higher Education to produce scholarly publications. One solution is to initiate the Public Administration Research and Development Team (TERPADU) to enhance scholarly publications, particularly for lecturers in the Public Administration study program at FISIP. The approach method used in this community partnership program includes AKPL Criteria, USG Analysis, and Fishbone Analysis to determine the priority issues and root causes of problems. Thus, TERPADU can become the smallest unit in the technical implementation and substance of research activities. Based on the research plan targets for new Public Administration (AP) lecturers over the next five years, there are three main focuses that reflect a commitment to the development of public administration knowledge. One lecturer plans to develop a theory in this field, which is essential to strengthen the academic foundation and contribute to the literature. Second, seven lecturers target publications in reputable international journals, reflecting an awareness of the importance of global visibility and credibility in the academic community; support from the institution through writing training and access to resources is crucial. Overall, the lecturers expect the institution to be more active in supporting research and community service activities, not only with proportional funding but also by creating a collaborative and innovative academic environment. With the right support, the Public Administration Study Program is expected to produce high-quality research and community service, relevant to the needs of society, and provide a significant contribution to social development and public policy.

Abstract

Extracurricular activities can be used as a means to develop students' interests and talents and achieve achievements at school. One of the success factors in extracurricular activities is the role of competent coaches. Teachers can become coaches in extracurricular activities to support extracurricular activities. One way to carry out these extracurricular activities is to provide training to teachers to become coaches in extracurricular activities. The purpose of this training is to realize the cadreship of teachers as coaches in sustainable drumband extracurricular activities. The method used in this community service activity is the CBR method. Activities are carried out on teachers. The training includes basic drumband training, the use of musical instruments in each drumband section, playing intro songs to the ending and combined exercises for blocking and finishing. The results of this training activity show that this activity can provide a foundation for carrying out drumband extracurricular activities in the future. With teachers who have the competence to train extracurricular activities, teachers can collaborate to carry out drumband extracurricular activities to develop students' interests and talents in order to achieve achievements for the school.

Abstract

School Counselors have the right to self-improvement to enhance their professional competencies. However, not all counselors have such opportunities, especially those in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions (3T areas). This article discusses the self-development of counselors in a 3T area using eco-art counseling techniques to address psychosocial issues in adolescents, applying an Asset Based Community Development/ABCD approach. The service results indicate that this mentorship could improve the professional competencies of madrasah counselors in handling student psychosocial cases. Students were able to express their emotions through creative expression using local natural materials such as fine Natuna Marus beach sand, gonggong shells, and plants that are mostly found in Natuna such as cloves. They are interacting and collaborating with counselors and getting support from their friends who give positive responses to their work. Creative expressions led to artworks with potential economic values, such as motifs for hijab, Natuna's typical sarung. The community service recommends that future services should further specify student psychosocial issues and develop an educational module for eco-art counseling.

Abstract

The limited technological infrastructure in West Sulawesi challenges teachers in integrating technology into education, hindering interactive and engaging learning experiences. Gamification offers a solution by creating engaging learning environments with existing resources. A gamification training program at SMPN 1 Majene aimed to enhance junior high school teachers' skills in applying gamification to improve student engagement and participation. Before the training, most teachers were familiar with gamification through social media, but few understood its educational context. Despite the unstable internet, teachers had sufficient computer skills and showed enthusiasm for gamification. The program included sessions on gamification principles and practical applications using platforms like Wordwall and Genialy. Post-training evaluations revealed significant improvements in teachers' knowledge and skills. All participants felt confident and prepared to implement gamification, with most reporting enhanced abilities in designing gamified lessons. The training effectively addressed infrastructure limitations, enabling teachers to create interactive, motivating, and engaging learning experiences, ultimately improving teaching quality and student participation in the classroom.

Abstract

The increasing amount of stress that occurs in the educational environtment is experienced by students because they feel less able to deal with academic demands. This background of the community service activities carried out at SMPN 180 Jakarta, especially for students in class 8C. This community service program is carried out through psychoeducation with the theme “Little Steps of Coping Stress”, which includes expository teaching, discussion, module provision, and practice of butterfly hug techniques which aim to equip students with effective coping strategies to reduce the academic stress they experience. PKM activities are carried out using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method with a qualitative approach and purposive sampling technique to select participants who experience academic stress. The results of the implementation showed a decrease in academic stress experienced by students, increased understanding of coping strategies, and their readiness to face academic pressure more adaptively as evidenced by the evaluation through the results of the pre-test, post-test, and two-week assistance. This shows that the psychoeducation was successful in helping students reduce their academic stress levels.
