Abstract

High blood glucose levels are caused by insufficient insulin produced by the pancreas, causing hyperglycemia. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between body mass index and blood sugar levels during type 2 diabetes mellitus. This type of research was correlational analysis with a cross-sectional approach. The population of this study was all type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at the Melati Elderly Posyandu, Mlaras Village, Sumobito as many as 54 respondents. The sample of this study was 48 respondents with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Melati Elderly Posyandu, Mlaras Village, Sumobito using the Slovin formula. The sampling technique is simple random sampling. Body mass index variable data was collected by measuring body weight and height and calculated using the formula BMI = BB/TB2(m) while blood sugar levels were variable using a 5010 V5+ photometer. Data processing by editing, coding, scoring, tabulating and data analysis using the Pearson correlation statistical test with an error rate (alpha) of 0.05. Before the Pearson correlation test was carried out, the data normality test was carried out with the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test because it uses a ratio data scale. The results showed that the average body mass index was 19.18 with a standard deviation of 4.14 while the blood glucose level at the time was 197.25 with a standard deviation of 60.62. The data normality test is fulfilled. The results of the Pearson correlation test showed that the value of p = 0.025 was smaller than alpha 0.05, so H1 was accepted. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between body mass index and blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is hoped that health workers will always provide information related to risk factors for type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Hypertension in the elderly poses significant health challenges, so effective non-pharmacological interventions are needed. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of hypertension gymnastics as a non-pharmacological intervention for elderly patients at the Arjuno Health Center, Malang City. The research method used was a qualitative case study, which involved two elderly subjects with hypertension over a period of two weeks. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and blood pressure measurements before and after the gymnastics intervention. This hypertension gymnastics program includes light to moderate aerobic exercise and flexibility training. The results showed a consistent decrease in blood pressure in both participants, with an average decrease in systolic pressure of 10-15 mmHg and diastolic pressure of 5-10 mmHg over the study period. In addition, participants showed increased knowledge about hypertension management and motivation to engage in physical activity. Subjective symptoms such as headaches and sleep disturbances also improved. The effectiveness of hypertension exercises in this study was achieved through a dose of exercise in the form of a frequency of 4 times per week with a duration of 30 minutes per session, which was proven to provide a significant reduction in blood pressure. This gymnastics program emphasizes light to moderate intensity aerobic exercise, which has been shown to help improve cardiovascular function and lower vascular resistance. This research contributes to the development of scientific evidence regarding the effectiveness of structured gymnastics programs in the management of hypertension in the elderly. These results confirm the importance of hypertension gymnastics as an integral part of primary care strategies for hypertensive elderly patients, emphasizing the importance of a tailored non-pharmacological approach to improve blood pressure control and overall quality of life.

Abstract

One of the predisposing factors for failure to achieve exclusive breastfeeding is that the baby does not get enough breast milk due to problems in breastfeeding due to the mother experiencing engorgement. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and attitudes about breast care and the occurrence of engorgement in postpartum mothers. This study used an analytic correlation research method with a cross sectional approach. This research was conducted at the Mojosari Community Health Center, Mojokerto Regency in March to May 2024. The population was all postpartum mothers on days 1-6, a sample of 58 respondents was taken using an accidental sampling technique. The results of the study 58 respondents obtained postpartum mothers who had less knowledge 31 respondents (53.4%) breast milk dams 23 respondents (39.7%), enough 17 respondents (29.3%) engorgement 9 respondents (15.5%), good 10 respondents (17.2%) dam ASI 3 respondents (5.2%). Meanwhile, for postpartum mothers, 35 respondents (60.3%) had a positive attitude toward breastfeeding, 17 respondents (29.3%), and postpartum mothers had a negative attitude, 23 respondents (39.7%), 18 respondents (30.0%). From the results of the Chi-Square test, the relationship between knowledge and the incidence of ASI dams obtained a value of p = 0.035, while the relationship between attitude and the incidence of ASI dams obtained a value of p = 0.024 so that p <0.05, it can be concluded that H1 is accepted, which means that there is a relationship between knowledge and attitudes towards the ASI dam incident at the Mojosari Community Health Center, Mojokerto Regency. Based on the results of the study, education and attitudes of postpartum mothers can affect breast care that is carried out properly and regularly so that it can reduce the incidence of engorgement in postpartum mothers and facilitate breast milk production

Abstract

The most prominent change in the third trimester in pregnant women is psychological changes. Trimester III is a phase called the waiting or vigilant period because pregnant women cannot wait for the birth of their babies. In this period, psychological changes that arise are fear, worry if the baby is born abnormally, fear of pain in the process of labor and fear of not being able to take care of the baby. Multigravida mothers, naturally also experience psychological disorders in the form of anxiety about the shadow of the pain she suffered in the past during childbirth. Especially for mothers who have experience with high-risk pregnancies, the anxiety level must also increase. Where this pregnancy has a high risk both during pregnancy and in the process of labor. There are also mothers who have experienced traumatic experiences and this has been shown to affect the anxiety of pregnant women in facing labor. The purpose of this study was to determine psychological changes in third trimester pregnant women in the Lawang Health Center Working Area. The design in this study was descriptive with a cross sectional approach. The population was 34 and the sample was also taken 34 people using the total sampling technique. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire with a closed interview method. Research result shows that on average (71%), their psychological change is quite good. The conclusion of this research result is that the average pregnant women doesn’t know about psychological change and this can be resolved with giving counseling about pregnancy. Hopefully when they’re checking their pregnancies in Health Center, pregnant women would reach out and talk about their complaint or public opinion, especially primigravida women in their third trimester, so it can decrease their worry about their fetus.

Abstract

Food flavouring is always needed by people to enhance the taste of food. Excessive use of synthetic flavouring (Monosodium Glutamate) over a long period of time, can cause harm to health in the future. For this reason, natural alternative ingredients are needed to replace the function of MSG as a food flavouring. Madidihang fish (yellowfin tuna) is rich in nutrients such as protein, fatty acids, and minerals, which can be used as a natural flavouring base. This study aims to determine the iron and glutamic acid content in madidihang flavouring, using a pre-experimental research method with an alternative one-shot case study design. The sample in this study was a 250 gram sample of madidihang flavouring. The test method for iron parameters was the 18-13-1/MU/SMM-SIG ICP OES method, and glutamic acid with the 18-5-17/MU/SMM-SIG UPLC method. The tests were conducted in the laboratory of PT Saraswanti Indo Genetech, Bogor Indonesia, with 2 replicate tests, namely simplo and duplo tests. The data obtained were processed by calculating the average value, then presented descriptively. The average iron content test result was 4.05 mg/100 g, while the average glutamic acid content was 45,571.63 mg/kg. It is concluded that after going through the processing process, madidihang flavouring contains iron and glutamic acid which is good for consumption and can be used as an alternative to natural flavouring instead of artificial flavouring.

Abstract

The incidence of hypertension in the productive age group in Indonesia is increasing. Treatment of hypertension in all age groups is generally carried out over a long period of time and is sustainable in addition to a regular diet and physical activity program. Many factors affect patient compliance in undergoing a hypertension diet, including motivation. The purpose of the study was to analyze the effect of motivation on dietary compliance of hypertensive patients of productive age at the Krian Sidoarjo Health Center. This study used a cross sectional approach with a sample of 94 hypertensive patients of productive age (15-59 years) who visited the Krian Health Center. Samples were selected using simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire and then analyzed using the Logistic Regression test. The results showed that self-motivation, the most dominant was poor with a frequency of 56 with a percentage of 59.6%, and good at 38 with a percentage of 40.4%. Self-motivation proved to be the most significant factor affecting dietary adherence, with a p value of 0.000 and an OR value of 20.56. Self-motivation is a predictor in dietary adherence in patients with hypertension. The higher the motivation, the higher the patient's dietary adherence. Therefore, more effective interventions may need to combine increased self-motivation with more appropriate education and integrated support from various sources.

Abstract

The immunization program is included in efforts to reduce morbidity, disability and mortality in infants and toddlers. The achievement of complete immunization still has not reached the target. A number of factors are known to influence the low coverage of complete basic immunization. This study aimed to determine the factors that influence the completeness of basic immunization in infants in the working area of the Mojokerto District Health Office. This study used a case control approach, with the population in this study were all mothers of infants in the Mojokerto District Health Office Work Area totaling 16,019 people. The sample in this study was 96 mothers of infants who had met the inclusion criteria. data were collected by questionnaire and then analyzed using logistic regression test. The results showed that there was an effect of mother's education level (p value = 0.000), mother's knowledge (p value = 0.000), and family support (p value = 0.000) on the completeness of basic immunization in infants in the working area of the Mojokerto District Health Office, and there was no effect of mother's employment status (p value = 0.285), number of children (p value = 0.885), and distance and affordability of immunization services (p value = 0.947) on the completeness of basic immunization in infants in the working area of the Mojokerto District Health Office. The positive effect of education level, knowledge and family support explains that the higher the education, the better the knowledge and family support, the higher the mother's motivation to immunize her child. Given the importance of the influence of family support on the completeness of immunization in infants, it is very important to involve the role of families in the toddler family development program so that families participate in supporting the implementation of immunization in infants.
